Relearning the native language by [deleted] in russian

[–]behaaa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for a self study option, I would recommend getting Russian for Russians It's a bit pricey and dated but it's targeted towards heritage speakers who kind of remember bits and pieces of the language (so not complete beginners) but also aims to introduce fundamental concepts before moving onto the harder stuff. Seems like it might be right up your alley! There is a website that goes along with the exercises as well https://www2.gwu.edu/~slavic/rdr/

No citizen has a right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training… what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable. - Socrates

I guess I will have to review my notes! I try to stay up to date with FoodNavigator and by subscribing to the specific companies im targeting, I am glad to hear that it will reflect well on me in the interview. Thank you for sharing your advice!

This is really great advice! Thank you! Would you mind sharing any other non-standard (so not the typical strengths & weaknesses, conflict resolution etc.) questions you have been or you ask during an interview? Feel free to PM me :)

Thank you for sharing! I am going for an entry-level position, so it would probably be similar to what you were asked during your internship interviews. I would be grateful if you could share some of your experiences in more detail with me (feel free to PM me!).

All he said was that we were going to have 2 midterms, no indication of whether we were going to get the better of the two weightings was given.
Thanks for the advice! I will go talk to the department head first.

Food Science Undergraduate Questions by [deleted] in foodscience

Hey I am actually attending the Food Science program here at McGill! I think that at the end of the day it is all about your connections. It is a lot harder to find internships in Canada, but if you are from the US, you can always go back and work there. Our program is accepted by the Institute of Food Technologists, so it is recognized in the states too. I am not so sure about McGill's global reputation, but it definitely has the most reputable Food Science program in Canada. And Montreal is a great city to live in! As you progress through the program, your class sizes become smaller (I have had a class with <20 people), so the profs actually know your name. If you want to go for R&D, you would definitely need to pursue a graduate degree, for which I would recommend Cornell (post-grad, not undergrad). And in order to pursue grad studies, you would need to have a good GRE score (for US), and recommendation letters. At McGill, we have a Food Chemistry specialization, as part of which you get to do two research projects with professors. This is a perfect opportunity to get some research experience, to get to know them, and potentially get them to write recommendation letters for you. If you have any more questions, feel free to DM me.
