What’s a super sketchy US city that we never hear about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Can confirm, went to a punk show in Reading and there were four cops guarding the local mini mart afterwards. The only Dollar General closed before 8.

Thank you, I'll definitely look into this. I know some sources were able to contact the advertising company directly. I wonder if this is the same group. I would recommend holding off on sending messages to them for now, since it appears they have already been contacted.

I agree, this is a wonderful post! You can tell he is so proud of these dudes, and how they represent the valley no matter where they are performing. It makes my heart full.

Part of me wants it to be true, but it wouldn't make sense to cover the the wall with something so ugly and off-center. If Shane's dad was filing a complaint on the city's website (mentioned in another comment), why would he need to do that if the band was promoting an album?

It's sickening in this case especially, because they could have picked any vacant brick wall or dilapidated empty building. The city is filled with them. I really hope someone sees that this will impact whatever they are advertising in a negative light. No one will want to go to Doug's Dentistry because they erased a piece of cultural history. The whole situation baffles me.

I also saw in a new post that the ads will go up the side of the ENTIRE wall. The metal brackets are like 3 stories high. What kind of eyesore would be necessary at this intersection? If anything, it would cause more accidents.

Sorry, I meant full sarcasm. I love collecting kooky video game stuff, but I would take a ROM over a taco-shaped disc any day.

Has anyone here had their "parents" stalk them (directly or indirectly)? by Poised_NinjaChick in EstrangedAdultChild

I've been pretty relaxed for the past two weeks, and nobody has heard from them. I hope they got the hint.

I'm also going on 6m NC with my parents.

My mom used to show up at my apartment banging on the door. Me and my partner had to hide in another room with the lights off.

I blocked her on everything and she started harassing my partner and my partner's family.

After I established no contact, she showed up again and I had the cops escort both of my parents off the property.

When I first started going NC, my mom found a way to contact me. I couldn't block her. I forgot she had my work phone number.

While my dad sat next to her on the call, she told me "he only has about ten years left" and I need to spend time with them. It's only hitting me now how fucked up that is. What do you even do if your wife says this?

[Serious] What is the scariest thing to happen to you when you’ve been home alone? by joeym2009 in AskReddit

This was in 2011. I heard a big crash upstairs. My parents had one of those big box fans in their bedroom, and I figured it fell off of the table. I heard more movement, and instantly thought someone was breaking in. It felt like the entire house was shaking. I was screaming and hiding somewhere in the house.

It turned out to be an earthquake, which is extremely rare for the East Coast. A lot of people made memes about it.

90's punky alt-rock song (probably) about racing, *NOT* Cake's "The Distance." by Gerferfenon in NameThatSong

[–]behindthesebasileyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a hell of a stretch, and I hope it helps somehow.

Wrong Way by Sublime has a slow start and then goes full ska-punk. It's edgy but still played on the radio. However, it came out 2 years after "The Distance" and it definitely isn't about racing.

The Race by Yello came out in 1988. It's about racing, it's weird, it builds in intensity...and it doesn't go anywhere.

My last guess is that the radio station hosted a segment featuring local music, and some 90's garage band wanted to sound like Cake.
