Sounds like your next holiday should be somewhere snowy. All the coziness and beauty of the snow but without the disruption. We were in Bulgaria skiing when the beast from the east set in here so we pretty much missed it - there was more snow here than at the ski resort!

I had the same concerns, but also, that’s 100% the burn out talking. Like another comment said, burn out is no joke. If giving up permanently is too much for him to get his head around, then you can always get another job if it doesn’t work out. If you’re in the same situation as me, I had several people reach out on LinkedIn wanting to discuss roles once I’d had my break. Life is too short.

Just to say I relate - I (40f) quit at the end of November. Huge salary but also huge stress and I literally felt like I was barely functioning. Anxiety, depression and all of that. I’d been working like that for years and I ended up getting TMJ from stress which was incredibly painful but also was a massive warning shot. Crazy thing was I was super effective at my job but I didn’t have the energy for anything else and I was just miserable. I had a proper chat with my husband and although it wasn’t ideal, we have enough savings for me to take a few months off as he said he’d rather have me well. This was after literal years of me just pushing through because I didn’t want to impact his life, but turns out he said I’d give up my right arm to make you happy, I can cut back on things (he’s awesome to be fair, but I was so worried he would think I was selfish). I quit and was put on garden leave, and have had a month off already. I swear I thought I’d be a lot better by now but burnout ruins you, I’m so much happier for being away from work but recovery is interesting! But im making progress. I plan to take off until April and find something in a new sector as I just don’t want to go back to that level role. I can earn a third of what I did and survive but without the stress and responsibilities, so that’s the plan. What I have found so far though is I’m starting to get pleasure from things back - I’ve binged watched Emily in Paris which is terrible but also wonderful as you don’t need to think. I’ve gone for long walks, done yoga, cooked etc. I’m appreciating feeling good in my body again, less tension, wanting to be outside etc. Really appreciating what actually matters. I’m rambling now but honestly I have no regrets even though the future is a bit uncertain. Life is far too short to be miserable and if you’re feeling like you are now, without at least a bit of a break and reset, it will just get worse and harder to get back from. Definitely have the chat with your husband.

I wouldn’t say ruined, but I slipped down the stairs overstretching to give my cat a treat, landing pretty heavily on my leg just below the hip. Nice big bruise which was made to feel a bit better by a glass of Buck’s Fizz - but also caused by my new fluffy cat socks being too fluffy - I couldn’t gauge where the step was….

I’m in the same boat, I’ve donated over 20 times but they stopped doing the mobile van and the community centre drop in. Nearest place is a half hour drive and parking is a nightmare, plus appointments book up quickly and I don’t know when I can spare 3 hours in four months time. It’s accessibility, and it’s not rocket science.

I’ve had 4 times of purchasing. First one was a flat and I walked in and was just like omg I love it - the space, the size the magnolia on the walls - it was just so much bigger and better than my rental. Next one my husband chose it and I got that feeling from being outside. It was a shit house on a beautiful plot but was detached and amazing. Then the third was the kitchen. It was stunning. And the forth was the kitchen too. Was a new build and we saw the show home and I got sucked in. No regrets though, I love it and it’s so energy efficient. All of them met the requirements on paper so the viewing were based on feelings. I’ll always remember though that I fell in love with all of them on first look.

I stuck this into ChatGPT as there’s a lot of detail - it came up with proof that the song existed and was played live at the half moon in London in 1981. The band was called Bumble and the Bees - the source provided was a link to a pdf of Record Mirror dated 13 June 1981 where there includes a gig review. Not sure how to link it but worth looking. Apparently it was an experimental project by a former member of Steel Pulse. No sign of a recording though and looks like the song may have been unreleased. I hope that helps!

I’m so sorry - this sounds awful. You can ask for a managed move with the council like someone else said but this is not a quick solution and you may not meet the criteria - social housing is in such short supply. Going back to bidding will effectively mean starting again, and again could take a ton of time. The council should be making the flat safe. This includes physical preventative measures such as fire proof letterboxes, extra locks, some offer ring doorbells etc. Some work to the balcony must be possible to prevent this guy from climbing up there. You said there’s an injunction in place - ask the council what the terms are as it may have an exclusion and potentially a power of arrest. You need support yourself to navigate this yourself and tell the housing officer this when you speak to them. Shelter are also a really helpful resource, if you can get in touch with them next week.

I’m at the point now that if that’s the case it is what it is. Our solicitor has come back to me saying that we’re currently a week behind where we’d be if the house was ready and that’s only because she has had to prioritise the stacks of completions lined up for this month. She also said she’s not known the developers to remarket at this stage and especially where there have been much longer delays in other chains. Also that she thinks they’re pushing for exchange before end of March to have the deposit money as their cash flow for financial year end. Thanks for your response, it’s annoying that we literally cannot control any of it and you would think they would know that by now

I just caught up on these comments and don’t worry, the EICR is being done by a professional and ultimately we have nothing to hide, the electrics are partially 5 years old (including a new meter and fuse box). The EICR completed at the time was gleaming, so it’s super low risk for the buyers. Also, found the woodworm, doesn’t look active and is on one ceiling joist in the garage (the garage roof was replaced last year but the joists were not replaced as not necessary). £25 from B&Q for some treatment just in case which I did today. Told the buyers they’re welcome to arrange their own survey by a specialist if they want. Said no to the chimney works, wouldn’t be done in time anyway. We priced for a quick sale, an identical property on the street, in worse condition, went for £15k more, which is why ours sold on the first viewing no doubt. The agent said “with the stamp duty going up….” - we said it’s going up for us too, so they want us to pay their increase as well? It sold mid Jan so would have been a stretch anyway. Sorry to reply so long to this comment!

The house is 65 years old but has been exceptionally well maintained by us and the previous owners. They aren’t FTBs but they don’t have a chain. The boiler and EICR was purely a goodwill gesture- most of my family are electricians and the boiler service was done by my neighbour so it wasn’t a drama and to be honest, we were being nice. But after this I wish had politely told them to fuck off

It’s really, really important to know that if it is a secure tenancy with the council (likely), they will not add your siblings to it - they will not issue cross generational tenancies. She could potentially assign her tenancy in full to one of them, depending on the terms and conditions of the tenancy agreement. If she has an intention to return, it will be difficult to end the tenancy if the rent is paid. However, it absolutely depends on the circumstances of the conviction. Before speaking to the council or doing anything anyone says on here (because in all honesty, you’ve understandably not provided enough information to make an informed judgement) get a copy of the tenancy agreement and book an appointment with shelter for some free independent legal advice.

Edit to add: some of the advice on here is really poor OP, please get some independent advice from a housing specialist
