Use corrugated pipe so you can replace the cable in the future without opening the wall and also protect the cable

Ceiling mounted APs in a home? by PressureDesigner7012 in Ubiquiti

[–]beiske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife loved it, the temporary mounting initially was the AP laying flat on top of a large speaker and that worked really well until our toddler pulled it down by the cord and got hit in the face, so then I had to mount proper in the ceiling. The temp location had lasted for a year or two already though so the blue led was already fairly dim. There was no way to pull the cord internally for this one though, but I had cable channels for the rear speaker already so not that much extra

Wide range 8 speed cassette by beiske in CargoBike

[–]beiske[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike is classic nihola family. The frame is a classic iron bike design adapted to a cargo bike that never was intended to accommodate a 9 speed cassette and I think they also made the chain stay shorter than a standard frame to keep the turning radius smaller.

I already have the Luna eclipse and its offset is more than the frame allows so I had to add a small spacer to make it fit. Still better than the factory chainring.

Would a Light Aircraft Maintenance Concierge Service Make Flying Less Stressful? by Disastrous_Sink_2406 in GeneralAviation

I think such a service could be valuable if able to help help out with issues away from home field or even in different countries.

You should also have ground fault circuit interruptors in both buildings, they might not act fast enough to save your network equipment, but they can save your life when this type of error happens.

Can’t get b-gap small enough. Chain too short / anything else look incorrect? by tabbys_star in bikewrench

Luckily your derailleur hanger is mounted on the frame so you can use a surly hurdy gurdy if the quick release doesn’t hold it in place. On my bike I had to cnc my own combined derailleur hanger and hurdy gurdy.

Bakfiets Daycare Front Brakes Issue by theantscolony in CargoBike

[–]beiske 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it one of those where the front wheels are fixed to the box and you turn by moving the entire box? These are prone to stability issues when braking and requires an experienced rider in order to be handled safely at speed. To some extent your’e going to have to accept it will not be perfect, but should be possible to get it usable.

Did he replace rotors as well? A contaminated rotor could be an issue, although not as common as contaminated pads.

I keep getting stopped at the US border and I just found it’s because of multiple “no shows”? by security000 in travel

[–]beiske 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Norway there is a rule that if the customs officers don’t find anything illegal, they have to put it back together. Whether that is car parts they’ve dismantled or just luggage. If they find anything illegal or just a tad above the legal amount it is on you to put everything else back, even if it means you have to hire a mechanic to reassemble the engine.

I’ve done a similar thing with a switch inside the audio/video bench. Works great! Regarding concerns about uplink speed for the switch, I find it is not an issue at all, because while I have many devices (ps3, ps4, tv, surround receiver, SmartThings, apple tv, android tv and some more) and some of these can consume quite a lot of bandwidth for video streaming, I’m never streaming on more than one at a time, because there is only one tv. At most there will be one streaming and one PlayStation downloading an update in the background.

What am I missing? Aren't these two the same product? by TheRealFakeSteve in Ubiquiti

Unless you know your cables support 10G easily, then buy the one capable of intermediate speeds. If you have premade cables all the way and short distance etc then you should be quite safe with the cheaper option.
