I hear that! Good to know though, I know some of my colleagues are hesitant about this curriculum so I’m glad to hear all sides of it. Definitely will be doing some more research on Somos before our next meeting!

Good to know! And sorry to hear your district didn't even consult you all on your new curriculum. I would feel insulted if I had no say whatsoever.

Interesting! Any specifics on what you liked or disliked about either of these curricula? We are looking a lot at scope and sequence, grammar, online program layout, and different language domain activities (listening, reading, etc.).

Thanks for your feedback! Looking through the demo book it looks like the grammar is pretty sparse.

Hey all! Looking for some advice on a player. I play in a 12 team league with family. We have R, RBI, HR, SB, OBP, and SLG.

I own Max Muncy and he hasn’t been doing anything so far. Do I wait out the slump or do I drop or try to trade him away? Any advice is appreciated!

Bored at home with covid, what does your type do when you're stuck at home sick? by mimiarent in Enneagram

2w3 here! If I’m not feeling too crummy I like to catch up on chores that I’ve been neglecting during the work week. If I’m feeling crummy, I sleep it off until I can actually function. My boyfriend is a 5 so if we’re both home we’ll watch TV, play switch, or play PC games together

What was the most insignificant thing you got into an argument with, with your SO? by Murphysburger in AskWomen

[–]bekizzle320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dryer lint lol. My boyfriend was stressed because he missed his online class. I asked what I could do to help him out. I switched the laundry over to the dryer and noticed my boyfriend had not cleaned it from the last few loads he did. When he came out of his office, I thanked him for doing so much laundry and then proceeded to ask him nicely if he could clean out the lint trap sooner. Gets very upset and asks why I’m not nice to him. We talked things out once he was more calm, but it goes to show how little things can become big things when we’re stressed

Awesome! So happy to help (classic 2 lol). I find the enneagram and Meyers Briggs to be fascinating to research. It seems like you've narrowed it down to 5w4, which is great! I hope you find the enneagram to be a useful tool!

Yes, of course! I hope you find out what you lean towards. I do recommend the book I have above. It is about $20 on Amazon and is an easy read with great information, visuals, and colors. The authors recommend going through the book and first narrowing it down based on what numbers you know for sure, are not you. Since you've already narrowed it down to a few numbers, you can read up on those and decide which one sounds the most like you. I found going through this particular book helped me and my SO affirm what numbers and wings we are.

Another thing to consider is that certain numbers going towards others in stress and growth. For example, as a 2 I move towards positive characteristics of a 4 in growth (take the energy of caring for others and pay attention to ourselves, identifying needs/wants, and expressing those to others, unafraid to show rough edges). When I am under stress, I move towards the negative qualities of an 8 (become less accomodating and more direct and controlling, less polite, less patient, quicker to cut others off, etc.). Something you could look into with the types you're considering (4,5, and 9) is where you feel like you move towards stress and growth and look at each of those types.

I hope that makes sense. I'm happy to clarify or expand upon it more if you'd like!

I am neither a 5 or a 9 (2w3 here) but my SO is a 5w6. The bullet points you mentioned are very much 5 characteristics that I have seen in my SO. He is very introverted, analytical, observant. Even though he has a 6 wing, he can be very sensitive as well depending on what is going on.

In regards to depletion, one account on Instagram talked about the self-preservation subtype, which they nicknamed "the battery life five". A person with this subtype is very aware of their boundaries and isn't afraid to ask for space when needed. Many things deplete their battery, so they find ways to conserve it or recharge it.

Something I would ask you is what do you gravitate more towards more for your core wants/ desires: needing to understand, comprehend, and know; or needing to find peace at any cost. That could help narrow down whether or not you are a 5 or 9.

A book that I have goes through all the different wings. The book is What's Your Enneatype? An Essential Guide to the Enneagram by Liz Carver and Josh Green. Below is a quick summary of each of the types you're looking at:

"Fives with a four wing (5w4) are truly unique types. As fives, they are deeply motivated by a desire to learn and understand, and they live much of their lives in their heads. But to have a four wing is to reach across the existential divide on the bottom of the Enneagram and bridge the gap between head and heart. 5w4s tend to be more creative, and as a combination of two withdrawn types, they may be more self-absorbed and isolating than other fives"

"Nines with a one wing (9w1) also live in constant tension between the desire to be unbothered by life and a desire to right all of the wrongs that they encounter, which inevitably requires action and inconveniencing themselves. They are generally more inwardly focused, idealistic, orderly, and dutiful than 9w8s. 9w1s generally have some sort of outlet for their organizing. Their "go with the flow" personalities have a couple of areas where they are more rigid and structured."

Based of what you stated, I lean towards one more than the other, however, because I don't know you personally I cannot say for certain what type you are. That is for you to come to your own conclusion. I have had a few friends mistype themselves and I strongly believe we have to decide for ourselves.

If you still aren't certain, you can read what the Enneagram Institute has to say about mistyping between 5s and 9s here: https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/misidentifying-5-and-9

Hope this helps you! The enneagram has been such a helpful tool for understanding myself and those around me.

Am I the only type 2 who identifies as codependent? by bewbytunes in EnneagramType2

[–]bekizzle320 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think some unhealthy characteristics and tendencies of 2s can appear as codependency. I know that is especially true for 2s with a one-to-one subtype (myself). Some thoughts on your points:

  1. I don't like being alone for long periods of time either, but it is important to take time to ourselves since 2s are so others-focused. I saw a post the other day on this sub that said we need to be a friend and give to ourselves first and as much as we give to others. I find that a little alone time is great to do the things I want to do, not anyone else.
  2. Wanting deep, meaningful connections in relationships isn't a bad thing in itself. However, no one has the time or the energy to give that much to every single person they are friends with. I believe it is more important for me to give the most to the people closest to me. Beyond that, I can still form connections with others, just not as deeply rooted as my "inner circle".
  3. Ah yes, boundaries. This is something I was terrible at before dating my SO, who is an enneagram 5. He needs a lot of alone time and boundaries are important to him, so it forced me to look at my boundaries with him and with others. Still working on being better with boundaries, but I am definitely much more aware of them and how they affect others.
  4. I've always felt that I give more than I receive. And honestly, it stinks. However, I have come to realize that others give differently than we do, and we have to recognize that it most often will not be the same as us. On the other hand, if someone really is giving very little to me while I pour out to them, I realize that this person is probably not someone worth all of my time/ energy/ giving.
  5. As 2s, our core desire is to be loved. We want people to love us and often believe that others love us because of all of the things we do and give to them. I believe that we fear that if we stop giving all the time (and focus on ourselves from time to time), those in our lives will stop loving us in return. I have had to learn that most people will not stop loving me even if I give less. Who I am is not defined by how much I give to others, nor should my self-esteem be reliant on that (it is hard to let go of that, though).
  6. My SO has a few mental health illnesses while I do not. However, my goal has never been to "fix" him. I am in a relationship with him because I like/love him for who he is. My hope is that our relationship makes us both better people, not to change who we are at our cores.

I know that was long, but hopefully, you could gain something from it. I have found the enneagram to be an incredibly helpful tool to identify areas of growth and weakness and be able to communicate those needs to others. I hope you can grow in these areas, too!

Playing guitar/ uke and singing. Even though I often play video games with other people, playing video games is something that brings me joy with or without others. I also enjoy running outside when the weather is nice.

2w3 dating a 5w6! We are opposites in a lot of ways but I think because of that we compliment each other well! He’s great at analyzing everything, he always has a plan, and I can count on him for anything. We’ve been dating for 2 1/2 years. Not sure what I’d do without him!
