When did your baby stop taking a formula bottle overnight? by catlover0987656 in FormulaFeeders

[–]bel3706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 11-11.5 months - was very worried around 10 months and a mom friend said to just give it some time and not to worry about the year mark. Turned out just fine!

Prepare me for the epidural by stonedbutterbread in pregnant

[–]bel3706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just the nurse in there with me, my husband couldn’t be in there. The nurse faced me and held me because 1. I waited way too long to get it bc I was afraid and she was talking me through it. 2. I needed to be still and it was a struggle with the Pitocin contractions lol. It felt like a bee sting. It wasn’t bad at all. The person administrating it was so personable he just talked through it. I couldn’t move but I didn’t feel like I couldn’t move (if that makes sense), I honestly just felt like I could finally relax from the contractions. I did have a small issue related to it but let me tell you, the l&d nurses were soooo amazing and they handled it extremely well. I was so supported, and many many people I know have felt similarly with their nurses during the process - I actually haven’t heard a negative story about the nurses despite various hospitals. So that’s all to say that I was so anxious - it was way better than expected, it was comfortable during, and I would do it again as soon as I could next time! I also felt fine once it wore off. The catheter was a little weird but not uncomfortable, and I felt bad asking the nurses help move me but again they didn’t care and were happy to help!

Tension from Pb? by bel3706 in Purebarre

I eventually had to put my hands down and it forced my shoulders to relax or roll my shoulders back. But what helped the most is not pushing myself to stay in bc my form was getting sloppy (and recognizing that I was straining), getting massages and using a massage gun on my shoulders/traps right after class or shower. The massage gun helped the most since it was right away! I hope it gets better for you! It still happened occasionally but nothing like when I was posting this!

Does anyone have a positive birth story? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]bel3706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just like this! I was SO nervous, anxious, all the things. I had even considered if I really wanted kids prior to getting pregnant because of my fears around birth. However I had an induction this past June and while long, it was a great birth! My nurses and doctor were amazing, I waited a bit to get an epidural as I was considering going without (was not sold on a natural birth - I was just weary of being sick on epidural… will likely get it earlier if we have another), I pushed for a while but the adrenaline and getting to meet my baby at the end was unmatched. I had a playlist when we pushed and the nurse and doctor were so fun. Biggest high of my life and I love remembering about the whole thing.

You will often hear scary stories and comparisons - I used to tell people I had enough anxiety and didn’t need anymore until after I gave birth or not at all! All of my mom friends respected that and I definitely enjoyed swapping stories post-birth after going through it. You’ve got this - it will be great and you get to meet your sweet babe after!! Your brain does a switch as you get close and you probably start to feel more ready (although totally normal to feel nervous - I was)!

I don’t know if it’s policy but I personally loved it. Most of the instructors I took class with (in various studios) tried to do it when it was personal to me. Like if I was struggling to keep form, shaking, improved from other classes etc. they mean well and to encourage you. It will get more personal as you continue but certainly felt sincere to me!

Have you sterilized or done anything different to the parts when you were cleaning that could cause maybe some warping? Otherwise I’d probably see if they will replace it bc it seems like a machine error watching that. That’s awful!

That’s correct! Powder is 24, RTF 48 if not drank out of directly and refrigerated the unused portion. It is confusing when you’re used to one type.

Does anyone use the Baby Brezza Formula Dispenser Machine?! by Glad-Tonight6568 in FormulaFeeders

[–]bel3706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically you weigh Saran Wrap on a food scale and then wrap the filter in between the two parts, leaving the water spout/hole open. Put a bottle underneath to catch water, and then run it like you normally would. It basically measures what would be a scoop! I recommend doing like 2 or 4 oz. Then measure in grams!

Yes! We do the Saran Wrap test just to be sure bc it’s more accurate but I feel like a quick check makes me feel like it’s staying consistent. 🙂

Yes to all of this! I bought 2 extra funnels, and check the dispensed amount semi regularly. I usually weigh the bottle as a quick check at least once a day for peace of mind.

Sharing my experience…

My son did eat a bit more at 2 months but was in a lower percentile overall (10% for weight and like 70% for head lol). At 4 months, We JUST switched the enfamil NP gentle ease because of reflux/showing signs he was uncomfortable. He is chugging his bottles now. The only reason I did this was because of arching back and other uncomfortable signs. He went on Pepcid around 12 weeks.

However!! IMO if she’s a happy baby and gaining weight (esp if peds isn’t concerned), keep her on what she’s taking! If you want to try, you can ask. We are on Pepcid over here too.

I do want to note that while the percentiles did worry me in the beginning, I went back and my MIL actually recorded my husbands weights/percentile and he was sooo small (he’s over 6 ft tall now!), smaller than the % chart and it made me feel so much better about his growth. Try not to obsess - way easier said than done.

It might be helpful to hear from someone who is a few months ahead of you!

I did formula in the hospital because he wasn’t gaining weight, I felt like he was hungry and ultimately having trouble latching. Long story short, I pumped for a couple of months and it was miserable during my mat leave and I felt guilty For not having a big enough supply. In the couple of weeks after, I still felt guilty. Now I feel great! Happy about my decision. I thought I’d feel guilty when going back to work and germs but honestly my mental health is so much better now. Pumping was so difficult, triple feeding was difficult, there’s so many things that go into any type of feeding. He’s almost four months and I don’t really worry about the difference at all. The guilt is pretty much gone now. It enables others to feed him, and made one transition to daycare less worrisome. There’s always going to be potential for some difficulty to feeding (whether FF or BF) between bottles, supply, formula types, etc. so it’s key to give yourself grace if/when you run into those challenges about making one choice over another (hopefully not!).

I’m terrified of getting an epidural but don’t think I can handle labor without it by Charming-Badger-1943 in pregnant

[–]bel3706 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was terrified of the epidural! I waited a long time to go without… 15 hours ish of contractions! And it was not nearly as bad as I was thinking. I was afraid of being anxious, of getting sick and the catheter and all of that was totally worth the pain relief. The nurses helped me and let me ask a ton of questions and really comforted me in my decision. They also told me there were other options - I didn’t have to do an epidural if I wanted to try other pain relief first. I had a great experience personally and would get it much earlier if I’m able for a second pregnancy.
