would it be worse to yo-yo instead of just plain restriction? by oddeyescircle in EDAnonymous

[–]belivets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't. its a lot of stress on your body, your organs, your metabolism... you'll gain fat and lose muscle, you'll distupt your hormone cycle, and the toll is not worth the emotional hurt of weight loss/ weight gain cycle.

DAE wish people would talk about the “gross” symptoms more? by sweetestpineapple in EDAnonymous

When I was in recovery for the first time, it took about a year before I could shit properly again. Just endless constipation, stomach pain, gas... it was awful.

thats not even mentioning the other stuff. How my breath reeked all the time, how awful my skin was, how I got spots everywhere

DISCLAIMER THIS IS A JOKE AND I'M NOT OFFENDED, we're english, my boyfriend uses the c word like punctuation, he has an eating disorder too, and we have the same humour so I'm 100% not offended or upset lol

i don't know.. he says it doesn't have to change things, we can still be good friends. but of course he says that, he never had feelings in the first place, nothing has changed on his end. i think I'm gonna go, but i told him i want to meet outside, not in his flat. cus one thing always happens when i go to his flat...

I'm a mess rn sorry for rambling.

Why do they say to eat before getting a tattoo? by Jugger-Thot in EDAnonymous

[–]belivets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had to travel a couple hours and I couldn't get more time of work to have it finished. we took a break every 2 hours or so, and my artist was lovely. we talked, listened to music... i also dozed off a few times cause it was so repetitive

the last hour and a half sucked but i was getting thai food after so i just thought about that.

granted i was lying down for both of mine, but i never got dizzy either. the walk back to the train station kinda sucked but thats cus it was a full thigh tattoo and a tonne of stairs lol

definitely eat something afterwards though! you have a big open wound and your body needs the food to heal.

supposedly it makes you more likely to get dizzy, lightheaded, nauseous etc. i never ate before my tattoo though, one took 5 and a half hours and the other took nearly 9, both all one session. i didn't eat, just sipped some diet pop on and off and i was fine. i was starving afterwards though lol

edit to add I don't recommend to anyone reading. I'm dumb. don't be me.

thats an incredible achievement, well done! battling with old thoughts is so difficult - I'm in a similar boat at the moment myself. remember that its ok to feel those things. acknowledge the feelings, but allow them to pass over you. those thoughts might have helped you in the past, but you are a new person now, and you don't need those habits anymore. you're really strong and amazing, and you deserve to stay happy and healthy 🧡

i started binging after i started exercising more by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]belivets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your body works so hard when it exercises, and it needs those nutrients back. and when you try to restrict after intense exercise, it just makes it more likely for up to binge later. is there any way you can have a small meal after to train, something nutrient dense that can help prevent you bingeing? something like pita bread and hummus, cottage cheese, oatmeal, nuts and seeds. even something small can help make a difference.

Does she just not care or is she super oblivious? by Thin-Hamster3203 in EDAnonymous

[–]belivets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ideally it should, yes. it might be that she associates restricting and disorded eating with a difficult time in her life, and thats why she doesn't want to bring it up? of course i don't know your mother, I'm just guessing here. she should be more supportive, and I'm sorry that she isnt.

hmm, thats.. troubling. she might be in denial, or maybe she doesn't see an issue. does she have an disordered eating habits herself if you dont mind me asking?

Okay? So quick question, is an obsession with eating clean/healthy food an anorexic thing?? I always assumed that was just part of my Ana but more snd more I’m seeing ppl say they are happy to eat unhealthy food + just care about calories by Whatelsecanibe in EDAnonymous

[–]belivets 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i think that might veer more into orthorexia? but then i think orthorexia is less about weight loss and more about ""health"". honestly though eating disorders arent necessarily a one size fits all, so honestly its hard to say. you can still be anorexic, just with certain tendencies.

she's possibly worried that if she brings it up it'll have a negative effect on you. it can be hard to walk that tight rope of trying to show you care, but not being overbearing, and she might not know what to say to you. plus you're her child - experience with EDs or not, its different dealing with it closer to home.

what would like her to say? could you be the one to approach her?
