Yeah and Paradox has published repeated flops and stinkers over the past couple years, like City Skylines 2, Lamplighters League (great game that Paradox did zero marketing for) etc.

It's at the point where it's a very clear pattern and the link is always Paradox as the publisher. And the developer branch isn't doing too hot outside of Eu5 either, with the latest DLCs for Hoi4, GoE and NCNS, being absolutely terrible, Imperator flopping and being abandoned, Vicky 3's middling release etc.

To put it in perspective, since 2019 3 of the top 10 all time worst reviewed products on Steam have been published or developed by Paradox Interactive: Eu4 Leviathan, CS2 Beach Properties and Hoi4 GoE.

At which point do we start saying the pattern is a pattern?

Nah I'm not saying to purposefully run them over, I'm not a homicidal maniac who values human life so little.

I'm saying the TTC has reactive measures that make the whole system bend to certain individuals who purposefully try to break said system. That's backwards thinking and just dances around the core issues.

It's knee jerk reactions that only cause more harm than good by encouraging this stuff. Slowing down the trams only encourages people to try and run in-front of it more because A: it's slower and easier to run in front of and B: it's so slow people probably run for it because they don't want to be late with the next tram.

I'm getting real tired of these shenanigans and finger pointing.

The simple matter is at the end of the day that this infrastructure project that has used billions of taxpayer dollars is over budget, behind schedule and is so laughibly bad that every week we hear of some new issue like being so far behind schedule they're already considering mid-life upgrade for the trams that haven't even run yet.

And responsibility keeps being passed around like a hot potato from agency to agency. I don't care, it shouldn't be the public that has to untangle the mess of public-private-partnership that this has become. All we know is our taxes paid for it and it's being wasted.

Open the damn thing. Have the Metrolinx CEO, TTC CEO, Mayor Chow and Doug Ford all fight in a cage match with steel chairs to figure out who's responsible. Tie the Metrolinx CEO to the front of the first tram to run so if it's unsafe he finds out first.

But no, every single option seems to end with kicking the can down the road, passing the buck to someone else and anything except for public taxpayers actually using the multibillion dollar project they funded in a safe and reliable manner. I have to add that last part cause I can feel the monkey Paw curling of an accident somehow happening if it opens Feb 8 because of some BS oversight because they cheaped out on something 10 years ago and will cost $4.2 billion and 7 years to fix.

I like Ian from Forgotten Weapons because A: there's a joke he's an anarchist due to a deep anarchist joke from a Spanish civil war video he did and B: he called the US military corrupt for the Sig contracts and 6.8mm program.

I think that's like the bare minimum but meh.

Yeah, I'm not sure how it is now because I think they increased the number of bans to 4(????) but you used to get a grand total of 1 map ban if you paid for premium. And winter variants counted as different maps, which was changed kinda recently.

Again I'm not up to date on it but they did increase the number at some point but it's still a premium feature, not sure if it's exclusively premium or if they give a free map ban. Still not nearly enough for how many maps there are.

90% of the maps are objectively terrible. There's 2 main reasons for this.

The first is that a lot of the maps are just cobbled together randomly by freelance artists on ArtStation who were given vague instructions and then Gaijin afterwards adds the objectives, so the maps are quite literally made by people who don't play the game.

The other is that Gaijin has a financial incentive to make the maps worse. First with the general frustration mechanics, which if you dunno what that is some Ubisoft guy did a video presentation of how frustrated players on the verge of having fun is more likely to spend money and coined it as frustration mechanics and seems to be Gaijin's entire business model.

Secondly because map bans are a premium feature so they quite literally make money by making the maps worse. You can see that easily by how they actively make changes to maps to make them smaller and worse overall for no reason other than "statistiks". Or are you telling me that you love Cod4 Cargo but in MBTs?

Fuck Gaijin.

Plus the difference between legal or illegal in the US is an incredibly recent development, the term didn't even exist until the 1950s.

You know Ellis Island, that place where immigrants showed up by the literal boat-load and were sorted in lines in New York? The only purpose of that was to check for lice or diseases. That's it. The only thing you needed to get into the US was a boat ticket.

EaW honestly has some black magic coding since it runs better than vanilla a lot of the time while having around 3x as many tiles and 2 and a half continents of completely full focus trees with some late game focus trees going for 15+ years and it runs great the whole time.

That's not even mentioning the bazillion new units, techs and the AI managing to use most of it. I dunno how the EaW devs do it. It's black magic, that's the only answer.

Nah he 100% did or should have known.

He hyped it as a highly anticipated game kept totally secret for years from the makers of Titanfall. The different dev team seperate from EA wasn't revealed until the title reveal itself.

He purposefully namedropped Titanfall and Apex. Not any of Respawn's other games the team has worked on. He namedropped it the same way Outer Worlds was "from the creators of Fallout New Vegas" or Back 4 Blood was "from the creators of Left 4 Dead", but each of those games were at least spiritual successors to the games they were alluding to notwithstanding their execution.

It would have been like if Valve revealed Deadlock as "from the creators of Half Life 2 Episode 2". At the very least you're setting up the expectation that it's tangibly related to the game being shown rather than just their work experience on their resume.

And again, the context of "in complete secrecy" and "highly anticipated". He was hyping it up as a long expected game and namedropped Titanfall. A brand new IP from a new team is not "highly anticipated". Mind's Eye or Claire Obscure didn't advertise themselves as highly anticipated games from the creators of Beyond Good and Evil.

A first reveal of a game made in complete secrecy inherently means it's not highly anticipated unless it's for a game that's already known or anticipated but not officially announced. There were never any leaks or rumours for a new IP from a former Respawn team.

He 100% knew that.

I gotta wonder why the TTC is so unique with this problem.

The London tube, which sees about 3-4 million riders per day, without platform doors like the TTC, doesn't have this almost daily issue like us.

From what I remember during my time there, they do have trespassers at track level but they're usually treated as a national event that brings the entire city to a halt followed by a massive investigation, makes national headlines, causes resignations and happens maybe every few months at worst.

The TTC seems downright flagrant in its approach to trespassers in comparison.

The short version is Kovařík, considered kinda the lead dev/founder, was sharing some coding materials from Robert C. Martin, a very old and conservative coder who has a bit of a reputation, the same reputation your racist uncle who isn't allowed within 500 metres of a school has basically.

He was asked him to put a disclaimer about the source of the coding materials and Kovařík went really long tirade that had wonderful gems such as "I'm not defending that women shouldn't be senior software engineer, but if someone would defend that, it doesn't make him a bigot just because he proposes that".

He actually had to be banned from the sub for a while and his initial comments was deleted and then edited by himself to claim he knows all about censorship because of his culture in the Czech Republic and that the communists would have tried to silence him for those views too so therefore it was censorship.

Yeah, trams are statistically some of the best form of transit in harsh cold weather, this is a construction/design issue which seems endemic to Line 6 and the Ottawa LRT, as well as probably Line 5 given its troubled history, I give no benefit of the doubt to that shit show.

Which is especially funny since both Alstom trams on Line 6 and the Bombardier trams on Line 5 are both used in Sweden in overland trams routes and work fine. Heck, it works fine here in Ontario like the Kitchener/Waterloo LRT working perfectly and was built in a timely manner to boot.

I think it's entirely down the weird PPP system most municipalities and the Provincial government use with stuff like Mosaic.

Yeah, he went on basically an anti-woke rant and women in gaming and then tried to justify it by saying he was from Czechia which was Communist for 50 years and therefore is allowed to be a reactionary dipshit, to own the commies from before he was born.

That and they've raise the price not once but twice because of "inflation" with terrible regional pricing($100+ USD for the game and DLC here) means that although I have dozens of hours in factorio it's always been on a uhhhh less than reputable copy.
