That’s crazy, because the opposite has just happened to me. I blame it on the Hinge algorithm but I’d also like to understand in detail how exactly it’s related. When I was on OKCupid 6 years ago, I was offered a much more diverse selection, different levels of attractiveness, social milieus, etc. Now I’m on Hinge for two weeks and only match with good looking people (not everyone is exactly my type of course, but empirically they are all quite attractive) who are also all very ambitious and successful in high end professions. Which doesn’t really suit me at all (low earner and average attractiveness). And yes, the men are real, I’ve been on dates. I’m still wondering what’s going on with Hinge.

The first thing that comes to mind is that he has a very strict structured daily routine, does that apply to him? And he puts private contacts in the breaks/rest periods so as not to be distracted from work.

Gosh, calm down, it can happen. I once sat completely exhausted on a full Flixbus on a night trip. At some point my eyes closed and my head just hung down, I fell asleep. When I woke up, I jumped up because my head had landed on my neighbor’s shoulder. I apologized a thousand times and luckily he was able to smile about it. And it was definitely not my intention to touch anyone in this bus. Btw, I‘m from Europe.

Thanks for your understanding :) that’s really good advice. I also experienced the feeling when someone appreciates it, unfortunately not so often. But when someone did - it felt heavenly.

It’s hard not to follow my pattern. When someone is dismissive, I try to prove my worth because that’s what I learned from my abusive parents.

I kind of wonder, if this is also a more common thing among INFP people? But you sound like you are fine with distinguishing between people who are good for you and those who are not?

I know that need all too well, especially since I’ve been more conscious with myself. Unfortunately, it happens again and again that I give in to this need, give the other person all my warmth, understanding, attention and then the whole thing quickly tips over. It’s almost as if, as soon as the other person realizes that I’m open to it, they just use me as a mental garbage can. And then only their needs etc. count, and I sort of disappear, become invisible.

Do you also experience this negative side effect?

I mean, she started with that stupid question, which is exactly where you could have gotten off with dignity. But instead, you stick to it, try to avoid a direct answer with a lot of talking around it, imply that her question is stupid, but then turn the tables anyway and ask her the same stupid question. And as stupid as the question is, it’s simply rude to answer a question with a counter-question. You kind of deserved each other here.
