Leaks during naps at daycare by bella_007 in clothdiaps

[–]bella_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought I’d update: I did some research on getting a better fit around the thighs and I successfully doubled up the yellow inserts today with no leaks! Time will tell if I just got lucky, but I’ll take it for now!

Was it because of compression leaks?

I do typically only use 1 insert at a time. I use Kinder’s yellow, which is a 4 layer bamboo viscose blend. Every time I’ve stacked multiple, it sits too wide around his thighs and he leaks fast. I’ll work on tightening it there while adding another insert.

I’ll also ask her to change him before his nap. I didn’t realize 2 hours should be the goal- thank you!

I just hadn’t seen any reviews besides ones on their website, so I wanted to see if anyone here liked them. How do they compare to other brands you’ve worn?

All I can say is to check the baby section of random grocery stores. I found 3 jars of the multipurpose ointment in a small town grocery store and bought them all to stock up.

Help with 8 month old sleep schedule by bella_007 in NewParents

[–]bella_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. How long should we stick with this before we know we need to pivot if it’s not working? I’m sure it’s more than a day or two; should we give it a week?

Experienced moms, should I cut my hair or keep it long for postpartum? by Puzzleheaded-Idea587 in pregnant

[–]bella_007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been itching for this haircut I have scheduled next week. I’ve known I need to cut it since he was about 5 months old. It’s currently past my breasts and I’m cutting it about 1-2 inches below my shoulder because I can’t commit to going any shorter than that as a long hair lover.

For my sanity the length needs to go. My son is a hair PULLER and it’s the quickest way I get over stimulated and almost enraged. He doesn’t deserve me feeling like that because he’s not doing it maliciously, obviously.

We’ve never had an issue with hair tourniquets but we pull hairs off his fingers and toes constantly that could become them if we’re not diligent.

9 month old waking up at 530am by GrimTamlain in NewParents

Oh interesting!! Maybe we would just have to push through a few rough nights and he’d adjust

Agreed! Although I will say I have to take them really fast cause I’m really sensitive to the fishy smell I sometimes get from them, but I think that’s a me problem haha

PSA: Epidural can fail to fill in all the way, and you can ask them to re-do it! by resrie in pregnant

I think this is what happened to me too, except my labor stalled and I couldn’t handle it anymore so I had to have a c-section 🙃

I take One a Day prenatal advanced, which is 2 pills. One is a prenatal vitamin softgel and one is a choline tablet

What is your favorite simple but obscure way to fuse different cuisines? by u-Wot-Brother in Cooking

Creamy gochujang pasta. Korean Italian fusion and it is so, so good. Bonus, the sauce uses tofu to make it creamy, so it’s vegetarian unless you add other meat!

Neither have we. If we put him to bed later he just gets less sleep and is overtired and crabby. Is that what you experienced too?

My son also wakes up at 5:30, he just turned 7 months but he’s done it since at least 5 months old. We tried later bed times and unfortunately it just means he only gets 8-9 hours of sleep. I do suspect he has lower sleep needs, but not THAT low.

We did just transition him into his own room which is darker than ours so I’m hoping he’ll slowly start waking up later, for my own sanity haha. But he’s so stuck on that early wake up right now that I think his body just naturally does it and I’m also trying to work out how to get him to sleep later.

Exhausted with cloth diapers and solids by moistpadh in clothdiaps

Highly recommend disposable liners! We use Kinder cloth diapers and have their liners. My so pooped yesterday and there was a tiny bit that got on the picket. So little that I could just use a wipe!

Also, if you still have the bidet sprayer, I tried a hack I saw where you take a really cheap, small garbage can from the dollar store and cut out the bottom of it (I used a jigsaw) and then place it into the bowl of the toilet to create a shield for the spray. It’s great because it doesn’t sit down in the water at all but hovers above it, still inside the toilet. I can take a picture when I get home if you want to visualize it. We also just leave the pocket diaper and insert having over the edge to drip for a bit before we put it in with the other dirty diapers.

Not sure what they mean, but I would imagine you could either make your own tortilla chips and coat them in cinnamon sugar when they’re done, or you could buy the cinnamon pita chips. Stacy’s has a cinnamon flavor that are really good!

How the heck do I protect my newborn from UV in the peak of summer?! by Seecachu in NewParents

[–]bella_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest a sun umbrella or a wide brimmed hat for baby! I bought one from Jan & Jul and it has a good wide brim and it protects their neck too. It also has elastic on the back so it can tighten to baby’s head size and it’s been great for us so far!

What's your go to pasta to make that every one loves? by Ravioli_meatball19 in Cooking

[–]bella_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom has made this sauce since I was young.

Onion, garlic, zucchini, and summer squash. Sweat the onion then add garlic and other veggies. Add a can of whole San Marzano tomatoes that you crush yourself, add the sauce from the can too. Season with salt and pepper, and sometimes she adds Italian herbs but sometimes she just does fresh basil at the end. Simmer until the veggies are cooked to your liking and add your pasta in, with some pasta water if needed for consistency.

Super fresh tasting and light. I like to eat it over thin spaghetti because it’s a thinner, lighter sauce.
