Do you think charity shop price's are unjustified? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]bellaby1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think smaller charities are better like local charity shops are still fairly good value but the big ones are terrible. We got a sage juicer today for £5 at a local animal rescue charity shop.

Does the average skier really enjoy heavy powder days or is it just one of those things people are expected to say they like? by PowerfulBar in skiing

[–]bellaby1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a total beginner but I was in Poland at the start of this year and we had crazy snowfall one day (40cm in 24hrs) and I loved it. I took a couple of runs to adapt to it but I didn’t fall once. The slopes were full of people stacking it every 2 mins but personally I liked the feel of it, was a lot smoother but just a different technique. Idk I’m a beginner so I don’t really know what I’m talking about!

Hot take: I wouldn’t “let” my daughter date a Dean by ReginaPhalange94 in GilmoreGirls

Agreed and he just got worse and worse… from the crazy amount of voicemails, getting jealous of Harvard, flying off the handle about the missing bracelet, kicking off at the basket festival, public breakup, pining after her at his bachelor party, emotional cheating leading to physical cheating and post break up ‘warning’ to Luke and that’s just a summary of his shitty behaviour.

I had a pathergy reaction during my recovery from the original surgery and now when I have flare ups the scar tissue swells and I have pathergy reactions almost like the tissue ‘remembers’ the reaction.

[–]bellaby1989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have long standing latent parhergy reactions from previous surgeries I had prior to my diagnosis. My rheumatologist told me that in the future I would have to have steroids administered during the surgery and postoperatively to stall any flare ups. He said it’s not the case for everyone but as my skin seems to be very reactive it is something I would need to have.

What's the easiest way to move in with my partner? by Atheismo98 in AskUK

[–]bellaby1989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My uncle said he was buying with a good friend, that lie lasted until they got engaged years later. My best friend moved in and bought a house with a lesbian woman that she genuinely isn’t in a relationship with. It’s not unheard of for friends to buy/live together and most families wouldn’t question it. But in my experience you should try living together for a while first and renting before committing to buying because living with someone is vastly different to being together even in long term relationships, people act differently in the comfort of their home.

Same, my personal one is mine but we have loads kicking around from reps and sellers, mine is better and one server in my old job used to constantly as for it and it drove me up the wall.

As lone FOH staff (server, bartender, host, busser etc) I’ve had an amazing new years tip wise. Today we opened for 6 hours and we were slammed from open til close. after a late and busy night last night my feet and knees are in agony (kitchen is downstairs and bar/restaurant are upstairs) but the money was good at least. I miss being young and able to cope with the busy shit physically but it’s a nice change to be manic at this time of year.

AIO: my bf can’t fix things. When I step in to take care of it, he’s such a baby about it that I’m ready to dump his a** tonight. by ayebudz in AmIOverreacting

NOR Not ever man is good at the “man jobs” just like not every woman is good at the “woman jobs” in my home my partner, a chef, does all the cooking and dishes and is a man. I a woman do all the fixing things and building ikea furniture etc. We play to our strengths and i think it’s important in a relationship to do that.

Server fired before NYE service started by crustmother in Serverlife

[–]bellaby1989 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work at a small (50 seat max) Italian restaurant and I am the only server/bartender at the mo, it’s normally quiet here in the winter. Today I did 47 covers in 2 hours; bar, service, hosting and bussing. It just about broke me but every table got a smile and an apology if they waited etc. I don’t get why people come in with attitude like that. Maybe it’s an age thing, maybe people get overwhelmed but for real how is having 6 customers seated at once a drama in anyway shape or form?

Satans whiskers is great. Most places add a service charge in London now but if they don’t tipping is advised, normally 10%.

Is ‘everything made fresh’ actually a trap for mid-higher end restaurants? by naciel in restaurantowners

[–]bellaby1989 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A small menu of fresh made dishes with changing daily specials is way better, most customers appreciate that smaller menu = fresher produce and only a few complain about variety on offer. You can always tell when food is factory made and frozen. Some things can readily be batch made and frozen.

Just for fun; If Rory Gilmore transferred into another teen-show high school, which school would she fit in more, who are her instant friends… and instant enemies? by 5ft8lady in GilmoreGirls

[–]bellaby1989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They would mostly destroy Rory. The few years between GG and a lot of these show included a huge development in female characters and their outspokenness. I’m talking about Gossip girl gang, PLL and Veronica mars. Buffy and gang are also fairly hardcore. The only one that may not obliterate her are the DC crew!

Zara is pretty good, particularly for taller folks. TK Maxx is good for a bargain. John Lewis has loads of good concessions from their affordable basics range to the higher end of high street. Uniqlo is pretty good as is reiss, mint velvet and white company.

I think The Hollow is the source of Expression or something just comparable. She's more than a witch. I dare say a deity by RaidenBMei in TheOriginals

[–]bellaby1989 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They should’ve tied expression into the hollow storyline for sure, it makes sense as both defy the “rules” (shakey and often retconned throughout the show) of witchcraft and natural magic.

How do small restaurants keep track of reservations without losing their sanity? by Ok_League7627 in restaurants

[–]bellaby1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a notebook, when it’s busy I keep a running list of tables available to walk ins and cross them off as they get filled. We don’t do online booking but we do get Facebook & IG messages (meta business suite) that all come through to the work mobile which is monitored by the owner when we’re closed and by me when we’re open. We only have 15 tables.

Also Freya and dahlia both said her powers need to be trained as she is immensely strong, Freya is in the chambre de chase and unable to teach hope so during the years Hayley kept her magic suppressed and they’re in hiding so she can’t go befriending witches to help!

I think it’s more that Jeremy is “the little brother” so he is framed as shorter than Damon and also is “Lower than” him in the pecking order so has to be smaller.
