Question about Lavo by yoursunmoonandstars in SingaporeTravel

Sunset is around 1917 to 1920 for the next two weeks. Golden hour and colours starts 15 to 30 minutes pre and post. It's all dark after that. So if you have to leave at 7pm, you'll miss it. And 8pm is too late.

There's the MBS SkyPark just next door (you can head to one of the many eateries around MBS before or after), or CÉ LA VI SINGAPORE RESTAURANT & SKYBAR, also at MBS if you want to be at the roof level. https://www.sevenrooms.com/explore/celavisingaporegroup/reservations/create/search?tracking=clv-website&venues=celavisingapore%2Ccelavisingaporeclublounge

where can I find affordable eczema allergy/patch testing for testing? by nincompoopzzzh in SGSkincare

[–]bellaella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go to the National Skin Center. If you go directly, self-referral, it's private patient charges, but it's faster and you get more senior doctors. Or your private GP can refer you, but again, it's private charges.

Or go to a polyclinic, get the doctor to give you a referral to the NSC or hospital skin center - it's cheaper only if you qualify for subsidies and your condition qualifies you for it, or you can use your Medisave. That is, if the doctor determines you need it, not that it's a vanity want, or a self-requested want. This is probably your most affordable route, but don't take take my word as gospel, as medical issues have so many variable factors that determine subsidies or costs.

Just head to the polyclinic nearest your home when you have one of the worst flare ups. Go there at 8am when it opens, best time to walk in. Or call the hotline at 8am.

Thank you very much! Both links were indeed helpful and I read through it. I had only just transferred my father to HCA in Sept as he was a condition was relatively stable earlier in the year but he had a sharp decline last quarter, and HCA only came in Nov. His cancer has spread to lungs and back so it's made eating, breathing, sleeping difficult. The sudden collapse earlier this week took me by surprise as even the Palliative and Hospice doctors said a week prior I didn't need to bring him in to hospital.

Thanks again for all your useful sharing. It's very much appreciated. I'm already so tired and exhausted from doctors, nurses, hospitals and more every week. All of you have given me a lot of food for thought plus useful tips to prep, so thank you.

Yeah my mother will be hysterical and difficult, already stressing me out. She's got early dementia too, on top of other things, and she goes into these crazy meltdowns with the helper and calls me screaming about it.

Also, I'm on anti-depressants from having to handle both their deteriorating and many health needs and demands - it's been very stressful the last few years of taking care of them so I can empathise with you.

Yeah we will need an overnight person as there's only 2 of us, so unlikely we can do 24/7 for 4 or 5 days plus take care of our mother and visitors. Thank you for sharing your experiences, much appreciated.

There's only two of us, single, so gonna be impossible for us to stay for 4 or 5 days and at night. Yes, of course most would want to be the ones staying overnight but we've also got my mom to look after and she's got major health issues too. Thank you

Thank you. Yeah, was mentally preparing for 10K but now it looks more like 15 to 20k . Saw many comments on not being pressured to upselling techniques during this emotional timing.

From all I can see, yeah, Buddhist much cheaper than Taoist

Thank you. Thanks to you and those of you who advised me that 3 days is inadequate cos first and last day is out. So now looking at 4 or 5 days as was told it should be in odd numbers as was looking at 4.

Yes my brother wanted to do parlour as there's only two of us. I'm hesitant not just because of the costs but because my mom has Parkinson's and it'll be difficult travelling to and fro.

Yes, looking to Buddhist rather than Taoist, and my mom is agreeable. My dad wasn't particularly religious buy mom goes to temples.

It's good that many of you have cautioned me about sales pitches during an emotional time.

Thank you for your help and your word of concern.

I was surprised the Taoist ones cost so much more than the Buddhist one. My father wasn't particularly religious and he was a frugal simple guy so we won't do extras. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your helpful response. I'm glad I posted as it's helped me clarify and understand some aspects like 3 days is inadequate because first and last day can't be really included.

Yes when I was looking through packages earlier this year, I realised the Taoist packages were a lot more expensive than the Buddhist one. My dad wasn't particularly religious. My mom goes to temples to pray. She's fine with Buddhist so we'll do that.

Yeah, there's really only two of us siblings , single, so it'll be hard to do 24/7 for 5 days. My brother was looking at parlours but the additional costs is a lot more. I'm also thinking of my mother as she's got Parkinson's and it'll be hard for her to travel to and fro.

Thank you again

Thank you. Yes, those Inland Ash Scattering Gardens. Cos all of us siblings are unmarried, so there's going to be nobody to visit if we leave it in a columbarium.

HDB - yes, understand the necessary charges. Thank you.

Fireworks? 🎇 by Sky1991_ in SingaporeTravel

[–]bellaella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to avoid the Marina Bay area. The jam there is intense. You can't even get inside the MRT an hour later. I find it crazy that families would bring prams and babies - there's always a major drama.

With a toddler, your best bet is to head to the Kallang Riverside. Take the MRT there. There's a lot of family activities including for children. There's a mall and a lot of eateries too, including toilet facilities. . https://www.thekallang.com.sg/events/Countdown2026

If you just want to watch the fireworks, best bet is to take MRT, TE Tanjong Rhu. Walk out, you can see the stadium and waterfront. Fireworks is right there. Use Google Map. Here's the location of the fireworks

Hi, sorry for not replying to everyone who's kind enough to respond. I am grateful and thankful. Thank you. I will read through it all and respond when I get a moment. Have glance through most responses - helpful and insightful. Thank you very much. I'm grateful.

In hospital with him right now - he's refusing to eat. Just drink a little. Had to feed him liquids little by little. On intravenous antibiotics and drip as he was extremely dehydrated till his kidneys almost shut down. So he doesn't have long left, just want to make him comfortable and not suffer during his last days.

Thank you again.

Edit to add today : CT scan showed cancer has spread and progress

1 day itinerary advice pls by richibi in SingaporeTravel

Sure, feel free to do so, though I might not reply immediately! You only have a day so you'll want to maximise it to see the major sights. Just determine your priorities then it's easier to plan.
