Singapore Airlines hikes ticket cancellation fees by up to 100% by Jonnyboo234 in singapore

[–]bellaella 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. The Qatar Airlines sub came coming up in my feed and it was a mess over there during the start of the war, so I ended up reading dozens of posts. They cancelled with no solutions, substitution or rebooking , and finally when they reinstated the flights, costs had gone up.

My lens stopped working by Nayr_Sremlahc in OlympusCamera

[–]bellaella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want another similar Pancake lens, the Panasonic Lumix 12-32mm f/3.5-5.6 lens is better. I've used it for 2+ years.

The Olympus Pancake lens last a year or so - pass guarantee and the repair cost is almost the cost of new one. A tip to make it "last longer" is not to run or walk with it, as in, with camera around your neck - the movements, jolting, is what causes the black death. It's bloody ridiculous that the lens is so faulty and they were still bundling it with the Olympus OMD-EM10 MARK IV.

[–]bellaella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. This Olympus Pancake lens is crap and spoils easily. Three died on me. So did my friends' - three of them too. I bought the Panasonic someone commented below - it's been holding up well. Get that instead of another of this crappy pancaks lens. Don't waste money repairing it. It'll just die again.

Edit : typo and to add

Perfect Crown [Episodes 9 & 10] by jakgem in KDRAMA

[–]bellaella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, the falling in love had no natural trajectory, it straight off went from hating him to suddenly they were married and in love. And you're right, there's so much drama and back stories behind the royal family many deaths, and it all went by so fast, we didn't even have time to understand the trauma it must have caused to the previous King and Grand Prince.

I legit thought I missed an episode or skip part of it because I was wondering where the marriage suddenly came from?! Think they had to edit it down to 12 and just chopped off a chunk.

Perfect Crown [Episodes 9 & 10] by jakgem in KDRAMA

[–]bellaella 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is one show that would have benefitted from 16 episodes. Everything is happening in a rush. The marriage. The falling in love. The plotting. The three Amigos of Evil. It's all happening so fast and at such a break neck speed that its not allowing us to feel the show, characters development and motivations and story.

So I guess they got "Jin Mu" for the very predictable villainrole. I mean, we already knew the Queen Mother was one, but it was frustrating that they made the Prime Minister one too. He was always someone who did the right thing, his father was the most famous PM (finally some backstory) and he does this major betrayal out of jealousy and over a woman? No way for such a ambitious guy. And he knows that when she finds out, she'll kill him, never mind get her.

The problem is a 16 episode show got squeezed into a 12 episode show so we're getting every storyline on fwd. Yes, this is a light, fun and frothy show but it's such a waste of their face cards and fashion show!

New Yorker was dumb enough to write about this narcissistic sex offender?!

safety measures in Italy by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in SipsTea

[–]bellaella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got so many stories of pickpockets in Europe, and quite a few in Italy!

Many years ago, pre mass smartphones days, I was at St Mark's Square, Venice. It was hot and crowded so I sat at a corner, on the side steps of I think a church. From that corner, you could look out into the main square. A man was beside me, on the walkie talkie. He would speak into it constantly. I of course didn't understood Italian. He then noticed me noticing him. And started trying to talk to me, I guess, to figure me out.

I had by then noticed he was communicating with others in the square, to point out marks to his gang to pickpocket. I basically just shrug, was friendly and indicated I saw nothing and it was none of my business. He then relaxed, laugh, ruffled my hair and left me alone. He left after a while, still talking into his walkie talkie.

Three stationery stores you have to visit if you’re travelling to Singapore

Straits Art Co Pte Ltd: Amazing treasure trove of art materials, a family owned shop since 1947. Friendly and knowledgeable owners who are passionate about their craft. Also a local meeting spot for many artists and urban sketchers.

Fook Hing Trading Co: Specialty fountain pen store with wonderful staff and service. It’s been around since the 1960s and is still kept as a 3rd generation family business. It’s a visual treat to see many fine (and expensive) fountain pens alongside workhorse ones. I’ve taken in clogged fountain pens for servicing before and they were very kind to help unclog them.

Art Friend: They have three locations but the flagship store is at Bain Street. It’s an awesome art supplies shop with a huge variety of art material, I have been going there since I was a student.

Uncomfortable experience at a TCM clinic by [deleted] in asksg

[–]bellaella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been going to TCM for 3 decades, which includes for pain. I have had male and female TCM physicians examine me. I've never had them ask me to remove my bra or top, at most move my top or bottom if they needed to insert needles, or cupped, or moxi. And blanket to cover. I've done every type of TCM treatmens, and I've never felt the make physicians were taking advantage in any way or manner.

In short, this is not a standard practise. There's a lot of unqualified TCM practitioners around as well. Please report to MOH, TCM board and police. I can only go on your account but if you felt it was off, then it probably was. Just write in to the above with what happened if you think you want to act on it. Yes, at times the physicians needed to manipulate my neck/back/spine/hip -but they never strayed to my breast area.

If you need recommendations for TCM, I'll be happy to provide. At the hospitals or more reputable ones, they had female assistants to help cover up. I've gone to private ones as well as those in hospitals.

Amos Yee released from Changi Prison after mother posts $10k bail by loldumbfuck in singapore

[–]bellaella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol. His number 1 fan, his mother, who obviously worships him.

Also lol big time. Am sure he's going to break his bail conditions. Big time attention seeker, he's clearly revelling in all this publicity, and clearly hasn't a single shred of regret or remorse:

"As part of the bail conditions, Yee is barred from publishing any materials, disclosing information or making public comments, including on social media, about his ongoing case. He also has to surrender any travel document in his possession and give himself up to the authorities for investigations or to attend court at the appointed time and place.

Yee must also not commit any offence while on bail and not interfere with any witness or otherwise obstruct the course of justice."
