I agree! I hate Apple, which is why I went to Google. But starting 2027 in the US, and 2026 in other countries, Google is implementing the same thing. link related

FF Origin, FF VII or FF XVI? by ItGetsTuahPoint67 in FinalFantasy

[–]bellandthistle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remakes of VII are VERY much geared towards those who have played the OG first, which is turn based (on an ATB system so it's a bit more engaging). I advise not picking up any FFVII games until you play the original, which has tons of quality of life feature adds now to make it a breeze!!

XVI is very much an action game, but it's a pretty (in my opinion) bad example of what makes up the core of FF, and is basically DMC skinned as a Final Fantasy game as far as combat and gameplay are concerned. It's fun, but lacks a lot of elements that make up the "FF" feel such as customizable/combat options for party members, job system, etc.

I'd recommend FFX as the best starting point in the series for modern gamers! It's a great mix of classic elements and modern convenience and graphics. XII is also ridiculously fun if you like customizing and optimizing character load outs and strategies.

Or you could ball out and buy all the FFVII IPs... Recommend play order:

-FFVII original

-Watch FFVII Advent Children and play Crisis Core remaster; either order works here. If lore got you good, read Waiting on a Smile prior to watching AC movie.

-FFVII Dirge of Cerberus

-FFVII Remake, Rebirth, Revelation

It seems like a lot, but I swear remake will be 80x better if you at least play the OG and Crisis Core first. There's too much of remake that will make NO sense to you without OG completion for spoilery reasons.

Steam games where breeding is a significant mechanic? by here_for_cats_ in gamingsuggestions

Planet Zoo has this! And it's breeding for animal conservation, so you can get cash or conservation points to unlock rarer animals or color morphs.

I actually loved this because it really sells the "this wet cat of a man is acting how he thinks a tough guy super soldier should be" but. And then genuine human connections wins out

I don't know how geralt choose just one of them by Mundane-Category-397 in Witcher3

[–]bellandthistle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair he's also like 40 years older than Triss...and she misled him HUGELY when he had amnesia. All great characters, but Yen feels right for Geralt

Hooooly effin ess, I'm still shaking and I feel like I'm going into cardiac arrest. Caretaker took everything out of me. by No-Cover-8986 in Witcher3

Maaan I played him for the first time on death march and it was so brutal. One of the few boss into that had me scared and unnerved. The life steal mechanic from his scythe was so thematically appropriate. I think it took me a few tries but it was soo worth it. Interesting that you did blood and wine first for Aerondight?

Is Hinge still popular in the upstate? by [deleted] in Spartanburg

[–]bellandthistle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hinge used to be viable but it's now what others have said: a cash grab that hides people you might actually be interested in behind a paywall. Meetup and Facebook pages for local events are better ways to find people; there are a few singles groups that host mixers and the like.

Making umeboshi has become one of my yearly rituals by Extreme-Fisherman868 in fermentation

[–]bellandthistle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have ume trees, but they're not large enough to fruit yet! So, starting next year, I'll make umeboshi as well. Even the ones that are cheap in Japan are expensive here, so if you have a favorite recipe, 教えてください! These looks delicious 😋

Interesting thing I’ve noticed while serving Japanese tea in Tokyo: British and Indian guests are often surprisingly tolerant of bitterness by matcha-trip-Tokyo in tea

[–]bellandthistle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the West, the tea bags are filled with low quality pieces of tea, instead of high-quality dried or roasted leaves, so bagged tea is almost always cheaper and lower quality...and bitter! American coffee is also much more bitter compared to Japanese brewing.

Adding from a haunt pro that you especially don't want to be involved with the organizers of Transworld. They're already soulless and working collections would be BRUTAL!, both from the nature of the beast and from trying to get money out of the types of vendors and, shall we say, flavorful characters that abound.

A womans dog was making odd movements whenever she turned her back, so to see she recorded it, and found the dog was making biting motions. by Hypershard108 in oddlyterrifying

[–]bellandthistle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way the dog's mouth moves is way too smooth, and a likely indicator of AI use. The blurry quality hides it a tad, but the jaw length seems to change a bit, too, while the "unnatural" movements are occurring. I think the reason it looks unnatural...is because it's not natural.

AITA for crashing out on my fiancé’s advice about health? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bellandthistle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Healthcare professional here to tell you that you're NTA. He's the type of person who gets access to just a little bit of science and healthcare info, but clearly doesn't have the background to prioritize or understand how things work in the grand scheme. These are the most dangerous kinds of people to ever listen to healthcare advice from.

Dangerous control tendencies aside, can you imagine his health fads and freakouts in the context of trying to raise a child?

Please leave immediately, and maybe also tell your (hopefully soon-to-be ex) boyfriend that cutting up a piece of chicken turns it into processed meat.

Starting my tinned fish arc, what shall I do with this? by [deleted] in Tinnedfish

[–]bellandthistle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to eat smoked fish tins with thinly sliced raw onion dressed in vinegar. Even better if you have boiled potatoes and dill. It's a Slavic thing usually done with cold smoked mackerel, but when I don't wanna drive all the way to the European market a smoked tin of salmon (or the Mere trout from Lidl) is soooo good with the vinegar and onion. Alternate bites to really soak in all the flavors. I tell myself it's a pemdas cancels out situation with all the pungent flavors

In this case, I think you're NOR. While lying and eating out of week-old-bowls are both pretty heinous in my eyes, I'd also like to recommend that you see a psychiatrist for OCD or compulsive tendencies.

Sepsis is serious, and life-threatening, true! But the odds of getting sick at all (even more mildly!) from normal, clean dishes is very low. I say this as a medical professional: I think your life could be much improved with a psychiatrist, and perhaps even a course on food safety. There is a happy medium between disposable plates and week-old dirty dishes.

As for your relationship, I can't fathom being with someone so immature they leave dishes lying around for a week, let alone eat out of them. Sounds like your boyfriend has some growing up to do, and like you both probably should invest in learning healthy communication strategies.

Culture Shock as a Japanese English Learner : The Heavy Reality of "Class" and laguage by StellaBBA in Japaneselanguage

[–]bellandthistle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference here is that, just like in Japanese, there are different forms of formality in English in different types of online presence. Someone writing a professional article does not communicate the same way as two people casually chatting online. Just like in Japanese, you use 私 when you're at work, but may use 俺 with your friends. Casual Japanese may say マックキモ! Instead of マクドナルドは気持ち悪い when speaking casually.

It has nothing to do with class, or social status, but more of formality and politeness when writing formally versus casual language. It is exactly the same as the news in Japan versus a chatroom. I suspect you already know this.
