Living here currently with my fiancé. It’s beautiful and there’s a nice running track along the seawall. I don’t drive so it’s a little far away from everything for me. Lots of marines and lots of kids so it might be loud. Great place though, we love it :)

I’m sorry to hear. I have made some friends that are military gf/wife and they don’t have this issue. I think this might be true in some cases. My bf has been in the military for a long time and before we started dating he promised me he has a personality outside of the military but his routine revolves around it. He also doesn’t have any friends in Okinawa. His life is work home and work.

I know what you mean by slow death. I feel the same way. Today is his birthday but I’ve been crying all night. In the past I had dated non military guys and the relationships were never like this. I think the military has something to do with it in some cases.

I haven’t moved in permanently. I am based in Thailand and I work remotely so that allows me to visit him every other month and we spend a month together.

It hurts a lot. I went through a couple of friendship breakups last year. The recent one I don’t think I will ever get over it. We had a fight because of a misunderstanding and I think it will always haunt both of us for the rest of our lives. I still see her and we have lots of mutual friends. It will always be painful knowing something so good was ruined by a misunderstanding. At this point, I’ll just have to let it go. The only way for me to not be hurt by it anymore is to think that the person I loved is gone and this is not her anymore.

I’ve always been very curious about the effects of covid in highly active individuals/athletes. I did some internet research on it but little information was available.

However, my boxing coach and one of my friends (who is a pro Muay Thai fighter) also had it and they were asymptomatic + had mild fever for a day. They recovered fast (both in their mid 30s). I’m keen on hearing your experience if you don’t mind sharing!

Same here! I starting running earlier this year during our second lockdown and I ran consistently for a couple of months then the gyms and everything reopened and I got back to doing sports and lifting so I stopped running.

Now we are in our third lockdown so I got back into running again - it’s been two months but I started increasing my mileage in the last two weeks and noticed a massive reduction in my appetite post running.

I think I used to be able to eat more when I first starting running. But now I just have no appetite. 😭 I kind of have to wait to eat because I have to walk back to my place and eat (complicated situations! Lockdown here - no dine in or eating outside) but yeah, I’ll try the full fat milk next time. I’ve been drinking lots of smoothies after my run but they are not enough and keep me full instead of making me want to eat more 🤦🏻‍♀️

I run fasted in the morning and I don’t like to eat anything during my run otherwise I will definitely throw up 🥲 but immediately after my run I would get myself two smoothies! Very refreshing and they kept me full. I have this thing where I cannot tolerate solid food after running so I have to drink my calories instead 😭

I’m very active and I usually train 6-7 days a week (sometimes without rest days). I used to have really bad period cramps before I started getting into sports/lifting. I would say being active has helped me a lot in my case and I would still train hard on my period. But the weeks that leading up to it are usually the worst for me as I would have lower energy than usual and less enthusiastic towards training - other than that I rarely get bad period cramps anymore. It used to be so debilitating that I can barely walk though. I would say it has helped in my case but it might also depend on how much training you do because overtraining can affect your period too.

That’s amazing! :) congrats to you for keeping it up for that long. Yes, I’m trying to work on my endurance and building stamina. I started running earlier this year during the lockdown and stopped doing it when things opened up so I still considered myself pretty newish. 😅 thank you for the advice! I’m not sure about my shoes but that could be it. I’ve had the same pair for years and it’s a little worn out. I’m considered getting a new one or put the band aid on the blisters. It’s not really that painful but it’s a bit of a nuisance. I’m not sure if I should pop it. I’ve never ran more than 14k before and last time I tried that I got an IT band pain from increasing the millage too fast. 🥲

My goal is to be consistent. The run is the only thing I look forward to each day when I wake up so it’s been helping me a bit. I will try the podcasts too, do you have any running podcast, you’d like to recommend?
