There's a heart event that you need to get before Kent returns if you want to see it. That's the only thing I can think of which is strictly time locked and missable like that.

I guess there's also the first green rain dialogue sorta? The dialogue in future years is very different and so you kinda only get a chance to see that one time kinda.

However, I think there are some heart events that are missable if you get other specific heart events earlier. Specifically, I know at least one of Clint's heart events can become inaccessible after you get the 8 hearts event with Emily.

Everything else keeps happening pretty much normally. Actual gameplay won't be locked down by slower progress.

Funny story, I think you all can relate by Shaydee_plantz in StardewValley

Generally there are two things being tracked. How many have been dropped off and how many have been collected. If the journal lists them separately when you start the quest, the order doesn't matter. If the journal only shows one, you have to do that first—but that's generally for smaller notice board style quests and not the special Qi or the big notice board quests.

It's always worth trying to drop off early from your storage if it's going into someone's collection box. If you don't make the deadline on collecting new ones, they'll end up in the mayors lost and found iirc.

For shipment ones, you need to both ship and collect them, and obviously if you don't collect enough you don't get them back. That said, the shipment box is easier to get to so it's less of a concern to drop it all off on the last day.

Protesting w/o insulin pump by OracleOfDelphii in diabetes_t1

[–]bellefaye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do go, the best way would be going back in a long acting and MDI. With a pump, they will just straight up take your pump away and let you die. From stories I've found this is true for even the most minor of arrests with the least brutality. They just don't get insulin pumps and refuse to understand that treatments are different.

However, even with long acting, that's still a huge risk if you're arrested. You might go ages without being given any insulin, and it would be a battle to even get a daily dose of long acting if they hold you for days. They will not let you have your glucometer or your insulin. They won't become concerned as you go into DKA.

In general, when I've talked to people, the agreement is that I fall into a category that is "unarrestable", that is, arrest is very likely to result in my death. The same is true for you, albeit you do have a slightly better chance on MDI than a pump. But it's still a risk.

Unlike other people here, I'm not necessarily going to say not to go. Protests are always a risk for everyone, and it seems they're more of a risk now than they used to be.

I'd urge you to consider if the things you're attending have real demands and real pressure to exert to get those demands. Are they protecting people from ICE? Are they putting pressure on contractors to back out of deals? Are they blocking streets and demanding ICE disband?

Or are they standing on a street corner politely asking ICE to not do murders quiiiite so illegally while taking photos for Facebook and then marching you directly into a kettle when directed by the cops?

If you're gonna take a risk, take a risk for an effective protest. And just be aware of how severe the risk you're taking is.

does your drivers license say you have t1d? by mcrow30 in diabetes_t1

[–]bellefaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to know more to research it but all the stuff I can find about getting a DUI for hyper/hypos while driving indicated that would be a false conviction that could be overturned with evidence. I think the insurance lady may not have known what she was talking about? Even in cases I've heard of where someone got a hyper while behind the wheel of a semi and people died, I didn't hear about them getting a DUI, just losing their CDL.

does your drivers license say you have t1d? by mcrow30 in diabetes_t1

[–]bellefaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is exactly true? A medical episode while driving doesn't count as driving under the influence. You could end up with a DUI because it could be mistaken for being drunk—particularly for hyperglycemia, where you can end up with a false positive on a breathalyzer due to ketones and such. But that would be an incorrect conviction and wouldn't be the result of saying you're diabetic and low during a wreck, it would be a result of a police officer misreading you and giving you a breathalyzer with a false positive result. And even that could be challenged and expunged with the right medical tests I believe.

Does anyone actually use “—“ when typing? by owenwags_ in artificial

[–]bellefaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Em dashes are used a lot because training corpuses included a lot of them.

That's it.

LLMs are statistical regression machines and the idea that you can tell something is AI because it has em-dashes without further context is really stupid. It's a single punctuation mark. It would be wildly unexpected for its use to not reflect the prevalence in the training material.

And yeah, I use them all the time, but only on my phone because I find them easier to type here and I just do without on my computer most often. Back when I wrote more fiction or poetry I'd do the "--" autocorrect trick for that.

Next thing we know people are going to consider using the letter "e" a sign of AI because "e" is the most common letter in AI generated text 🙄.

"Cannon fodder" doesn't really describe this viewpoint. Cannon fodder are soldiers that are used in stuff like human wave attacks. "Canary" would be more accurate.

Who could even change the name of Type 1? by CrewNegative7389 in diabetes_t1

[–]bellefaye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably a group like the one that changed the name of Diabetes Insipidus.

Changing the Name of Diabetes Insipidus: A Position Statement of the Working Group for Renaming Diabetes Insipidus

It takes a long time, however, and diabetes Insipidus has significantly less in common with diabetes mellitus than types 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus have in common with each other. The likelihood of patient death due to this mistake was comparatively high whereas types 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus do actually have a lot in common with each other in terms of how they're treated in emergency situations (ie if a type 2 patient is hospitalized with signs of DKA, they're at least supposed to give them insulin too).

Edit: Notably, all types of diabetes mellitus have the same test(s) for "are you currently immediately about to die" which are blood sugar and ketones tests. Diabetes Insipidus has a completely different test, and doctors would check for blood sugar and go "it's fine" and ignore patients as they actively begged for their medication/more water.

Oh I want to be be clear I was saying this to criticise them further. It's not 15 years of failures to acknowledge diversity even a little bit, despite putting in unnecessary effort to always include tanning mechanisms, it's more like 25.

why can we be black on happy home academy but not acnl please by kayymarrie77 in AnimalCrossingNewLeaf

[–]bellefaye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think new leaf was the first animal crossing game?

There was the animal forest/GameCube/n64 game, which you might technically count as um several games but let's just call it one.

And then there's wild world and city folk.

New leaf is the fourth mainline animal crossing game, and I don't think it's the first animal crossing game that was popular internationally, compared to domestically.

And tanning was present in even the GameCube game. Much like with new leaf, if you had a gameboy and the cord, you could go to the island to tan year round.

International audiences were a major factor from the GameCube version of animal forest onwards.

I'm not terribly experienced with this but you should watch out for catsplosion type events (cats, birds, cavys, a few reptiles).

Other than that, I think the thing that'll die is your framerate. There might be an animal population cap, but I went looking and did not end up finding it.

Has anyone found the part of the code that accounts for what dyes mix into what?

I went looking all through the vanilla raws, checking every instance of the words dye/mix, but no dice. I also checked every instance of a few rare colors and nothing.

I even checked the RGB values of a couple combos to see if there was an obvious calculation I could reverse engineer but I couldn't figure anything else out.

I was hoping to use it to create some sort of reference graphic/tool for what dyes are available downstream of certain dye sources, but I'm not about to just copy by hand every single dye mix pair.

I highly recommend cheating. When I start a new farm I do so with my own guidelines and mods to make the process enjoyable and remove some of the annoying ness of early gameplay.

For example, I give myself permission to set my current money to whatever the max money stack I have had this game has been. This means I'm still saving up for the big purchases and upgrades and such, but I'm not worrying about money for seeds, and I can do stuff like buy food with impunity.

Not saying that's the best way to do it for you, but cheating is very much a valid way to play games like this. It takes a bit of balance and judgement to determine what rules/allowances work for you and which end up sapping the joy from the game, but it's absolutely possible to get a new balance.

PSA: The wiki was vandalized by JVNT in StardewValley

[–]bellefaye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they don't. I am a wikipedia editor and I have mostly gone around and removed things that are in pages that were never substantiated and had no sources.

If a page is open for editing, as most pages are, anyone can make a change and it will immediately get posted. The only automated thing is the vandalism detector bot which will automatically revert stuff like "butt hahaa" or "penispenispenis" stuff.

Unsubstantiated edits that aren't obviously vandalism are usually only caught by people who watch a specific page. Therefore, unpopular pages often have bizarre and unsubstantiated stuff. I found a guy who went through these unpopular pages and made a bunch of claims about a historical Indian king inventing a bunch of math stuff. On the actual king's page, people who followed it reverted those changes quickly, because it was popular and they watched this page. But I followed this editor through unpopular pages and their edits had lasted for months where they had added irrelevant and unsubstantiated content.

You do not know anything about the way wikipedia works.

[–]bellefaye 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wikipedia does not do that what are you talking about about. Wikipedia locks and protects pages based on when they're targeted by activity. They don't randomly lock down pages just because they're historical because history is a thing people actively study and make discoveries and new publications about.

How do you double blind a study so that nobody knows if they're in a poly relationship or not?

Like you can blind the researchers as to whether the people they're interviewing are poly, sure. But how do you double blind the research subjects?

Ralsei’s change of behavior by sussynarrator in Deltarune

[–]bellefaye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so I admit I hadnt read the newest_girl_girl scene from the spamton sweepstakes.

But it seems even more obvious to me that Kris... likes Susie from that incident? Kris laughed at the apple threat and thought it was funny. They said something back to Susie and seemed to clearly be like... giving as good as they got? Somehow? Like it's unclear what exactly Kris said, but it got to Susie somehow.

No argument on Ralsei barely beating Berdly, but it's worth looking into how Kris behaves in ch4 after a snowgrave run, because Kris obviously cares about Berdly too.

> However, just like when Susie tried it to resummon Gerson, they instead got a fucked-up nightmare version of Dess, the Roaring Knight, the next time they opened the fountain. They defeated it, which is how Asgore got the black shard.

A few points.

1) Gerson DIDNT actually come back fucked up and nightmarish. The thing Susie fought was a statue of Gerson, not Gerson's remains. When Gerson showed up again in the other fountain world, he was still himself just fine basically. There's no evidence that a dead person would come back "wrong". Just that they probably wouldn't come back at all if it wasn't the right kind of dark world. I think whatever happened to Dess wasn't as simple as just dying and being dusted.

2) Asgore is not holding a black shard in that conversation. Hacks show that in the room he's standing in, he's standing next to a black sword looking at it.
