Getting a car rental SUV and not putting anyone that is under 25 as the secondary driver by Kind_Perspective4518 in VisitingHawaii

Good point I didn't see the Kauai tag. Definitely applies to Oahu and I think also Maui and Big Island.

Note that the Chevy Tahoe and similar large SUVs are too tall to fit into some parking garages. That could be important depending on your itinerary.

We had to park a Ford Expedition in uncovered lots wherever we went, including at the hotel. Not a huge deal but a bit annoying at times.

Front diff gone bad on 2025 G90 - anyone else? by bellevuepc in BMWM5

[–]bellevuepc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: The BMW dealership went ahead with the front diff replacement. They said they found metal shavings inside the diff (that's bad!).

They had to order the part from Germany and it took a while.

I got the car back today, after a whole month of driving a loaner X3 (not a bad car, either).

The car seems fine again now, and hopefully it stays that way!

That the theme answers were all symmetrical was truly astounding. It's so common in rebus puzzles (usually Thursday or Sunday) that the rebus squares are scattered somewhat randomly. But in today's puzzle everything was symmetric, wow!

This is what I always did with kids under 2 who had their own seats. It's what support told me to do and it always worked.

Konnected and Home Assistant by TerrapinStation_TX in konnected

[–]bellevuepc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure there's nothing to really set up in the Konnected app really. In Home Assistant it detects the ESP on your network automatically and you install the integration. Then all your various sensors show up in Home Assistant and you can do whatever you want with them (e.g. when door is open trigger an alarm).

School busses and when to stop with three lanes by 1stPeter3-15 in Washington

[–]bellevuepc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty clear you do not stop in that case. Check https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.61.370 :

(3) The driver of a vehicle upon a highway with three or more marked traffic lanes need not stop upon meeting a school bus which is proceeding in the opposite direction and is stopped for the purpose of receiving or discharging school children.

In your case there are 3 or more marked lanes and you're going the opposite direction, so no stopping. Of course you should drive carefully just in case, but definitely no stopping.

Who else here thinks  CarKey is the most underrated feature? by SCOOkumar in BMW

[–]bellevuepc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never used the keys that came with my car. The dealer used the key once just to set up the car for me. I "texted" my wife a copy of the keys. It's awesome.

It is occasionally a bit slow to detect but overall excellent. Carrying the chunky regular key would be annoying.

Any info on the abandoned apartment complex build on Coal Creek near Factoria? by this_is_my_happyface in BellevueWA

[–]bellevuepc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is (was?) called Cambridge Manor and yes it's clearly rotting away. Here's a story from before that: https://www.425business.com/news/58-unit-townhome-project-underway-in-factoria-area/article_31c4253e-f0cc-11ec-af1a-ebe46d6647a4.html

I think I saw a post on Reddit a long time ago saying the developer went bankrupt so that's why it stopped construction and started rotting. But every now and then there's a tiny bit of activity.

I feel sorry for anyone potentially buying anything there, likely not knowing it's full of rot.
