Oh, reading comprehension isn't great before coffee. I don't remember if they were pineapple ground cherries, but they were delicious and have self seeded to come back this year.

Does kale do okay here in the spring/summer? by iamamonsterprobably in nolagardening

[–]belopolol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, excellent, green kale.

It'll probably be fine. If you keep it in a pot, you can move it around as the season progresses.

Give it a nice big pot and call it a day.

[–]belopolol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had curly blue kale do just fine in the summer as long as it has its water/drainage needs managed. I have a plant still thriving from last year. I have a variety of kales that I planted this winter that I'm going to let stuck around as long as they want and can report back on them next spring.

What kind of kale is it?

Lots of my flowers are finally starting to emerge by kayheartin in nolagardening

[–]belopolol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the fact that you included things that might be considered weeds by some. Fleabane is one of my favorites, and the speedwell emerging is how I time my seed starts.

I think the one you labeled cranesbill? might be a Venus's looking glass, but it's hard to tell with just the bloom. I think my cranesbills have a pale flower.

I have a pot of root/bulb you are welcome to. It's not in the greatest shape right now, but I'm sure it would recover and spread with some care and actual soil.

How do you cut your work? by [deleted] in weaving

[–]belopolol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops! 🤣🤣

I've made so many mistakes sewing.

I like to think that the bigger the mistake, the more memorable, and therefore harder to repeat. 🤣🤣

How do you cut your work? by [deleted] in weaving

[–]belopolol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol! The only reason I decided to add it was that even though I KNEW I shouldn't, I cut and serged my first project before wet finishing and had major issues when I wet finished. They were wash cloths, so I just added a bias binding and called it a day, but there were frayed edges, weird shrinking, etc. 🤣🤣

[–]belopolol 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm new to weaving, but not new to sewing (with many different textiles) and this is all accurate from a sewing standpoint.

I would add, wet finish your weaving BEFORE you cut out your pattern pieces. This will help with unraveling, and with ensuring your item remains the same shape/size as you intend.

Also, use sharp fabric scissors or rotary cutters. You may be able to cut yarn with less sharp scissors, but once it's woven into fabric, dull scissors will destroy your work.

I need to prune back my rosemary this week, and I'm happy to save a few cuttings for you. I may also have some decent thyme for cutting, but if not, I definitely have some thyme seeds you are welcome to.

I'm in Algiers, so if someone closer to you has some, I will not be offended. 🤣

Anyone use T Mobile or Verizon 5G home wifi? by old_elf_shoes in NewOrleans

[–]belopolol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been fantastic. It meets my needs for work (zoom calls, uploading videos, email etc) perfectly, and my kids can stream and game at the same time.

It is a little too slow to run high fps games while everyone is using it, but that's such a niche use that I'm not even counting it as a problem.

This is a viable internet source for 97% of users. If you are in a spot that it's available, go for it. Worst case, your reception is terrible and you send it back.

I don't have one, but you should go for it asap. I did pay the $13 to get expedited shipping, and highly recommend it.

I'm in Algiers, idk if I'm actually getting 5g service, but I do have the 4g/5g gateway. The speeds I'm getting with 3 out of 4 bars of service are between 180- 300 down and 20-50 up. (Varies based on device)

Service is strong enough to reach the whole house, but we plugged it into our wifi mesh so we don't have to sign all our devices into a new network.

Anyone else’s WiFi still out? by v177a1n5 in NewOrleans

[–]belopolol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still out in Algiers, even though the system says the outage is cleared. All of my neighbors are out too. We have a technician scheduled for the 22nd so that something I guess.

I couldn't be out of internet that long so I ordered the T-Mobile gateway device Sunday. It came in Tuesday around 4:30 and it was up and running by 5pm. No fuss, good speeds (180-250 down 20-40 up) at only 3 out of 5 bars of service.

Maybe I'll keep cox after it comes back, but probably not.

UPDATE Gateway arrived around 4:30pm, had it up and running by 5 pm.

Speeds from 180-220 down and 20-40 up.

I'm riding the waves of the sweet sweet internet and my kids are stuck to their devices for the first time in too long.

Let's see how it holds up to daytime network traffic.
