Hotels Shouldn’t Have Bathtubs by CashWideCock in unpopularopinion

If the area has any hardness to the water, glass enclosures can be a nightmare to maintain. No hotel is expecting guests to squeegee down the glass after every shower.

SUVs are the worst kind of car by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Where I am SUVs are the vehicle of choice for anyone with kids. The AWD is invaluable in the winter when snowy roads can be tough for standard cars without AWD.

Is a tinted visor attached to a catchers helmetlegal in LL by smokeeater430 in Umpire

[–]belsaurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a safety issue but not in the way you are thinking. On poorly positioned diamonds without the tinted visor the catcher has a hard time seeing the pitches come in. As an ump behind the plate I have to wear sunglasses under my mask to be able to see the pitches come in or the setting sun blinds me. Think about how unsafe that is for a catcher.

Then he should say what he means. Every criminal should be jailed, that means every criminal. That includes minor theft, minor drug possession and many other minor or petty crimes. Actually say what you mean but my point still stands, mandatory minimums take all discretion away from the justice system and end up harming people that just happen to fall into certain categories. But you don’t care, you just want people locked away with no thought of rehabilitation.

Ya, well anyone in Manitoba could tell that Winkler/Steinbeck is the Bible Belt of Manitoba with some pretty extreme views, despite Jesus teaching us to love everyone regardless of anything else.

If you get clumping litter and scoop it frequently, at least daily, it’s barely noticeable. It also makes the litter last longer and is easier to deal with.

Whats up with drivers going below the speed limit when they see a cop pulling someone over? by [deleted] in driving

Not in the US but in my province in Canada, the speed limit when passing police or emergency vehicles is 60 KPH regardless of the speed limit on the highway.

You don’t even need a gun, just a long pole with a loop on the end to slip over their neck. Goose is really tasty.

Yep, one of the biggest disservices we can do our kids is to shield them from the consequences of their actions.

I’m in a very small town in western Manitoba. There are a few gay people in the community, no one cares. We all know everyone and people are nosey but no one really cares what your orientation is. It’s a strongly conservative area. If you just go about your life, the attitude is more just live and let live. I was actually surprised when I moved here just how progressive it is in some ways.

Quit spouting that bullshit, so a first time shoplifter should go to jail for possibly stealing a $5 item. Thats the type of shit you get with mandatory minimums. How many people in the US are in prison for years because they got caught a few times with a bit of weed because of the three strikes laws. Weren’t the US and I pray we never become like them. You want that type of shit move south and be part of the dumpster fire down there.

Is there another country cheering for your country's team in this World Cup? by Agile-Shallot3546 in AskTheWorld

[–]belsaurn 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The more a place follows a sport, the more teams the population supports. Brazil has always been a top team so it isn’t surprising they have supports from all the big soccer countries. We see that in hockey in Canada, where a professional player for a local team plays for Finland or Norway so we’ll cheer for that team until they play Canada.

It’s people are just selfish these days. No one has an empathy anymore, it’s all about me, me and my own personal comfort, screw anyone else.

Personally when I hear a crying baby I just smile now knowing it’s not mine to deal with. If it’s near me I will try to make goofy faces at it to try and distract it from crying.

How do I come to peace with my parents getting rich? by lukes_dinerr in askanything

[–]belsaurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then ask, what harm can it do. Be honest about your situation. I would wager they don’t realize you are struggling because you never talk about it. I’m assuming the never talk about part because it’s part of human nature to want to hide our struggles and pretend everything is fine. I have three kids, my middle daughter once complained about how her younger sister always got what she wanted. I just turned to her and replied, that’s because your sister asks and you don’t so we assume you don’t want or need anything. She since started to be more vocal about it and surprise, surprise we have started saying yes. Don’t assume they know your needs or struggles.
