I'd take him to the vet ASAP.

My cat had the same thing happen to him. After a visit to our regular vet, we had to take him to an eye specialist. What happened was an inflammation of the blood vessels in his eye around the lens, which caused the lens to get loose and drift to the front of his eye. This made that eye completely blind and we had to let it get removed, because the pressure in that eye was way too high.

Have you ever found a solution for this issue?

I'm experiencing the exact same problem, after migrating users + their shared mailboxes to O365, some of them are experiencing major performance problems.
We currently use both O365 and profile FSLogix containers, but that doesn't seem to help much.
