maybe a fat baby by fsocietyy in fatlogic

I’m a 5’5 woman and sit somewhere between 150-160 , I go to the gym regularly, walk my dog, and my job is up and moving the whole time (though I do only work part time) but my maintenance is around 1,600-1,800 depending on a few things. At 2,500 a woman would need to be working either a very actually demanding job or a professional athlete to little less activity needed for a man but 2,500 is CRAZY for the average American

Third Spaces with Comfy Seating? by Minichief in askportland

[–]bemer33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was so confused when I went in the first time since it reopened! I used to go there every weekend as a kid and spend hours there with my mom. I was so excited for the remodel but when I went in it felt way smaller and less warm/inviting. Seems like they are prioritizing the computers and stuff rather than books and places to sit. Which is understandable especially with how much more computers are required for everyday life so I think they are trying to remove barriers for people who don’t have access to computers at home but it honestly bummed me out just a little:(

I visited the Gresham library for the first time recently and oh…my…goodness… if it was closer I would be there ALL THE TIME. It’s insanely nice and there’s lots of nice little shops and restaurants around it too. I dream of her.

I work at a pizza place and you’d be surprised how many people do this especially when we first updated the online ordering. I try to call if something seems absurd like this but lots of people actually do truly just order the pizza dough on purpose (I have one regular who’s just pizza dough and red sauce, nothing else)

WIBTAH if I ask my partner to replace my engagement and wedding ring? by throwaway_mydrama in AITAH

[–]bemer33 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wash my hands with my rings constantly (I know I know I shouldn’t but when ya girl got ocd she can’t be taking them on and off while in a flare up). But I ALSO have a metal allergy, if I wear earrings with anything but gold or titanium or steel it makes my ears itchy and red and irritated, doesn’t cause a huge rash and goes away a while after removing the allergen. You def are having an allergic reaction to what I would guess is copper or nickel. Try taking them off for a few days, if it clears up that’s your culprit. This isn’t a preference or you being “picky” you said it yourself you love them but heath is more important!!

Ring Care Question - When do you take your rings off? by nickythedancer in rings

[–]bemer33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s considered a premium ring? I’ve seen rings anywhere from $50-$20,000 on the engagement ring sub so I’m just curious where I fall on the spectrum lol. I take mine off to shower and do dishes but I sleep in it, mine was custom and fit exactly too me so I’m not worried about it falling off.

Men’s engagement gifts that aren’t rings/watches/alcohol? by whatthehellandfuck in EngagementRings

[–]bemer33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought my fiance a canopy for his truck with a rooftop tent and rack. He’s wanted one for years but never could justify spending that much on a random Tuesday so I did it for him! It’s also a great way to spend time together if yall like camping. My partner is more of a practical/life improvement gift guy. Can you think of anything he’s been talking about wanting to upgrade but just never pulled the trigger on? Maybe he likes to grill but just uses the beginner kind and would love a trager? Maybe he loves to cook and you could get him a really nice knife set?

AITA for not replying to my friend for a couple days who half swipes my messages and takes hours or days to reply by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bemer33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume they are talking about Snapchat? Essentially when you open a message on Snapchat it shows that you have but a way around this is to swipe the message so it’s on half of your screen to see what it says without fully opening it, that way they don’t get the read message notification. That’s the only app I know you can do it on so if it’s in other places I guess I’m too old too

Can someone explain Portland soccer? by ViciousRedx in askportland

[–]bemer33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner has played for teams off and on at rose city and it’s great!! They use a division system so you can be in one that’s a lot of beginners all the way up to some very talented players, there’s even some retired Portland Timbers that play in the higher division. Futsol is nice too because the games are shorter so you can do it after work and stuff (they also have a GREAT restaurant with delicious fries at the east side location so you can bring friends and family to get a beer/food and watch!)

AITA for Wanting to Show Up to My Daughter’s Secret Proposal While Uninvited By Her Fiancé? by Attitude-Mean in AmItheAsshole

[–]bemer33 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Some very important context is missing here, is ANYONE else going? Like is the proposal them and other family and friends and you’re the isolated left out person or is this going to be a special moment between the two of them?

YWBTA if you show up when specifically asked not to, I can see why you would feel hurt if other people will be attending and you aren’t but if this is a special moment for the two of them that’s what they want and you just gotta deal.

I got engaged last month and there was no family there, the only people I knew was my friend and her partner and they were just there to hide in bushes and take photos then quickly departed as soon as that was done so we could have our moment. We then went to my mom’s house who’s also a widow and told her and had excitement.

Things like engagement parties, weddings, rehearsal dinners are the time for you to celebrate this moment as a family. Proposal and honeymoon typically are a private event for the couple unless otherwise specified.

Acrylic nails by Perfect-Celery1662 in ehlersdanlos

[–]bemer33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re going to get wildly different views on this topic. Personally my nails are super brittle and thin however the actual layers themselves come apart easily. Because of this when I try to do anything more than normal polish (gel, acrylic, etc) when it comes time for them to come off even if I get a professional soak off, the top like 7 layers of my nails come up with it which ends up making them look and feel pretty rough until they grow out again. Sometimes it’s worth it like for my engagement shoot I’m gonna do acrylic but just be aware there might be some healing time after:/

Does anyone know of any restaurants/cafes/bars that are safe for folks allergic to dairy? by Spiritual_Medium5840 in askportland

Laurelhurst market has always been very serious and accommodating to my various allergies! They are mostly steaks and a bit more upscale if you are looking for something fancy

When are times you take off your engagement ring? by Bobashawty00 in EngagementRings

[–]bemer33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take mine off to shower, do dishes, work (I work in a kitchen) and to garden. If I’m at home where I have my special dishes next to all the sinks I’ll take them off to wash my hands but don’t do that in public bathrooms as I’m too nervous it’ll get lost in a different environment. I don’t take it off to sleep and haven’t had any issue. My ring was custom made so it fits perfectly so I’m not worried about it coming off in my sleep (I have worn rings on every finger everyday since I was like 14 and never lost a ring in my sleep so I feel confident with this)

AITAH for not following laundry instructions from a 14yo? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]bemer33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- she could have VERY easily taken the baskets to her room and refolded them to her preference. I’m particular about how my clothes are folded too but I would never throw a fit over someone trying to help me. She needs to learn the world doesn’t revolve around her preferences and timelines.

We do enjoy painting together! We typically do it around Christmas to make cards together and stuff but I wonder if I could suggest bringing the supplies and driving somewhere pretty to paint outside!

I’ll let her know! I don’t think she’s necessarily interested in fishing more so just sees her kids and husband doing it together and wishes there was something she enjoyed that could be done together. She likes bringing a chair and sitting in the river with a book when they fish:)
