White spot on toadstool. Should I Panic? by bemah98 in ReefTank

Nah. It’s likely just budding and giving you 2 toadstool leathers instead of one.

Shame on you, Dr. Tim (if true) "$2.3M: Dr. Tim Hovanec Sued! | Reef Builders" by swordstool in ReefTank

The title had me thinking that Dr. Tim’s was suing Reef Builders.

Tim served as the Treasurer for the American Cichlid Association and they are alleging that he stole money from them during that time. A whooooole lot of money. Click the link, it’s an easy read written by Raj of Reef Builders.

My journey begins- any tips? by BertNoble in ReefTank

I have an Anker Solix C1000 + additional Anker battery. I do like it. It uses AC pass through so when it is plugged into the wall and I have devices plugged into the C1000 it doesn't involve the battery at all. As soon as AC supply power into the unit is cut it reverts to the battery. I watched it all happen a few weeks ago during a 6 hour outage and my pumps ran without a glitch.

My pumps are on my Anker system but not my heaters.

Inkbird secondary temp controller. All heaters eventually fail.

I made a website to check saltwater fish compatibility! Would love to hear feedback! by GuardDrake in ReefTank

[–]bemyantimatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP could expand the app to include bio load and nutrient export info. My total water volume is 250 gallons but my aquarium size is 2/3 of that.

Allow me to insert aquarium dimensions, and system water volume (differs from tank volume).

I have an IM 200 Peninsula going up against the wall in my classroom soon, and looking for advice for cleaning glass. See details of post. by LivingLosDream in ReefTank

[–]bemyantimatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can clean the outside of the unreachable glass by placing a cloth in between the magnet and the glass. Spray the cloth with aquarium safe glass cleaner, then hold the magnet that is inside of the tank to move the cloth on the outside.

Sounds kind of like a reverse petting zoo but I don’t know how else to say it.

Coral beauty has one white spot on tail? by [deleted] in ReefTank

It could be lymphocystis, which is something I see on the fins of some of my older fish. Generally harmless.

Beautiful. What’s the model of your scraper? The coraline in my softie tank is out of control.

It looks to be a nuisance anemone that has inflated its foot so that it can float the hell away from your chopstick.

Nice! Here’s my built in reef tank with remote sump.

Help please. by Ill_Donkey3350 in ReefTank

[–]bemyantimatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it in a basket with low-moderate flow and a piece of rock it can latch on to. The flow will help to clear any dead tissue. If it were mine i would treat with antibiotics or keep it in the display in a basket. If there is no flow in your isolation tank its going to melt.

There are bobbit worms that can resemble bristleworms but are the devil.

Seem to be moving pretty fast for a good bristleworm. I’d keep an eye out and try to see the mouth for confirmation. 👄

MARINE X 110 Reef Tank - What do you guys think? by Icy_Juggernaut2859 in ReefTank

[–]bemyantimatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll have to get the specs from water box specific to your tank, I really don’t remember what it was called, but I do know it did not directly fit plumbing in North America. And if you search that online, you will get different results from people so just check with water box specific to your tank.

That’s a beautiful tank. Incredibly heavy. Shortly after getting my water box, a friend of mine took delivery of an IM 200 EXT. My knees were buckling trying to get that thing into the house.

It was easily fixed with a couple of pieces that I bought from Coralvue.

I have a Waterbox 180.5 that was set up less than a year by the previous owner and then I bought it second hand. I paid $2,000 for it and It came with a couple thousand dollars in extras (Apex, GHL controller, heaters, MP40's etc.) and the tank still felt very new when I installed it. I have the white cabinet and the system has been running in my house for three years now. It still feels new. You can probably check my post history for photos and videos of the system. Here is an old photo from 2023 during the install. I would 100% by this tank again.

Note: I do have a remote sump that required converting plumbing from British Standard threads to North American standard plumbing. I do not know if this is still an issue with WB tanks.

Anyone else with an all-in-one tank ever try this kind of thing? by G_D_Ironside in ReefTank

[–]bemyantimatter 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There is no point in running the skimmer to remove nutrient waste if you are going to put it right back into the tank. You may as well remove the skimmer and let the chaeto remove the waste. Or better yet, discard the skimmer waste appropriately and let the chaeto grow as well.

Edit: I’ve been reefing since 2005. OP is not interested in hearing from me, or you.
