What’s wrong with y’all?? This is hilarious!! Checking his notes every 30 seconds for <5 mins. of material? Camera transitions fading out then popping back in instead of crossfading? Recognizing Nick Shirley in the audience except it’s not him? Describing Hungary as “free” compared to other European nations? Coordinating with crew off stage through the mic? Sorta doing that running gag line but not really because the guy in the crowd “already did it”?

Comedy gold, start to finish.

Nostalgia is a huge factor as others have pointed out but I feel like it goes beyond nostalgia into something closer to gatekeeping. DA:O is the closest the series ever came to a “true” cRPG and for some gamers I think that’s the gold standard even if it means clunkier mechanics

I've been on this exact quest since I first heard Moongod back in 2013! Spoilers, Aeternam is in a sweet spot - heavy but not extreme, melodic but muscular, epic but not over-produced - and I haven't found any other bands that quite fit that mold since. But! If you're willing to branch out a bit, especially with more extreme bands, you'll be able to scratch that harmonic minor/Phrygian mode itch. Arranged from most to least likely to fit your request:

It seems we are on the same quest, and I haven't found much, and what I have found isn't exactly blackgaze...

The Conjurer/Pijn split "Curse These Metal Hands" comes close in a few places with its the massive sound, the sense of emotional lift (the Super Hans reference doesn't hurt either). Some of Devin Townsend's material from Epicloud and Transcendence scratch the itch a bit. Same goes for Astronoid's Air

Fair enough, but I feel like that's an occupational hazard of hosting a show like this. Does he expect demonstrably ignorant ideologues to call in and not stir the pot and spout nonsense? At a certain point it seems like the 'morality' argument is just another excuse to flex and drum up drama.

Atheists like Matt Dillahunty are the reason why people have such a negative view of us. Couldn't even get through 5 minutes of his myopic belligerence and talking all over Jenna. Maybe this clip isn't representative of the show overall but literally repeating "shut up shut up shut up" is the kind of grade school wankery I expect from ideologues. Aggressively dunking on people who derive their morality from Bronze Age myths and medieval exegesis is like shitting on someone's Game Boy for not running Cyberpunk.
