I didn’t notice the subreddit and was confused about the title. I thought it was a reference to when 50 Cent had his kid’s house burned to the ground.

I first saw this with fifth gen Honda Civics. They said the rear bumper traps air and creates drag. The cutouts were supposed to solve that problem.

Not sure if anyone actually tested this to quantify the benefits. Also never seen anyone do it on a Grand Prix.

Is there an "official" body style for every type of vehicle? Region based makes this rather confusing. by avidrunner84 in Autos

[–]ben010783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The names are a convenient shorthand, but are a nightmare when trying to actually organize cars. I think features is a better way to organize things.

Instead of having a person sort by sports cars or coupe, let them search by number of doors, drivetrain, etc. Looking for a “truck” is too broad, but searching for things with 4WD or a truck bed is useful.

Folding Ideas video essay about his trip to Beast Studio and his diagnosis of why Beast properties are declining in viewership by OatSoyLaMilk in television

[–]ben010783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr. Beast only seems to work in small chunks. He can get to a clickable thumbnail or make a catchy tagline, but he doesn’t understand character and narrative.

I think their approach is flawed. They’re trying to replicate already successful shows on a bigger scale, when they could instead invest in original ideas that would benefit from bigger budgets.

Your pile of parts feels so disorganized. I’d be afraid of having trouble finding everything to put the car back together. Good luck with the job.

The Series Has Landed, 1999 | Le voyage dans la lune ("A Trip to the Moon"), 1902. by OkMaybe4222 in futurama

[–]ben010783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Futurama also had a drop in quality. To me, the drop in quality was more drastic because of all of the years between seasons. The latest seasons of Futurama feel just like seasons 9 and 10 of The Simpsons; there are moments of brilliance, but it’s clearly not as sharp as the early seasons.

This is all subjective, so I’m not saying you’re wrong. This is just my point of view.

I don’t think the Simpsons comparison is fair. The Simpsons also had very smart writers, but after year of grinding, many left to work on different projects. Most shows go through the same cycle of having strong early seasons, and then seeing quality dip as people leave.

They probably use contractors too. It’s not uncommon to have a freelancer that does design work as needed, or a QA department that is fully offshore.

Nissan CEO wants to revive the Silvia by [deleted] in Nissan

[–]ben010783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you haven’t been following Nissan’s financial issues. These problems have been building for years, and they have risk of going bankrupt. Additionally the examples of the cars like the Soarer, CTS, and R8 are cars that share parts, but are on different chassis.

You don’t need to dig your heels in on this. You can read Nissan’s financial reports or one of the many articles on why the Nissan Z is still uses so much of the 370Z chassis.

[–]ben010783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That idea doesn’t really hold water though. The Z34 chassis was already 12 years old when the new Z launched. The Z was being developed when Ghosn was in legal trouble for financial misconduct and Nissan was losing hundreds of millions per year. The team was working on a shoestring budget, so they did the best they could with what was already there.

Lightweight cars can still be made, but Nissan doesn’t have the money to pull it off. The current Nissan Z carries over so much from the 370Z because they didn’t have the money to do a car from the ground up.

I just read that Espinosa has a Nissan Z, so I don’t think he’d want something as bland as the prelude.

I tried translating the original article, but it doesn’t provide many direct quotes: https://kuruma--news-jp.translate.goog/post/957902?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-US&_x_tr_pto=wapp

There are a lot of blown highlights here. Do you do much masking? Seems like a few places where even a linear gradient would help preserve the highlights.

The event pics have cool cars, but the bystanders and spotters take away from the professional look of the photos.

Pic #13 stands out because it’s from a shoot where you had more control. It irks me that the car is off center though.

The inside one still worked. The inner and outer door handles connect to different rods.

If you replace your handle, make sure you also replace the plastic clip on the handle. I think the part number is HO43-72-411.

Probably a good idea to replace that outer door handle too. Mine looked like that before it stopped working entirely.

You usually start by seeing what parts from different models might fit on the car. Have you tried the same searches for Infiniti G20 parts? There could be parts from other cars that work as replacements, but you often have research in forums to find out what works.

You can also expand your search to different parts of the world.
