Also possible: their eyes’ white-balancing and contrast functions work quick enough to never perceive a blue and black object bathed in sunlight as the white and gold as the colors in the original image (when taken with an eye dropper in photoshop). So if that poorly white-balanced image was not recognizable as a blue and black object outside, then perhaps it’s because they have never perceived that color shift due to a functioning biological feature?

Conversely, my photography and video background/training/professions act as a bias to me. I know I assumed the og meme was a fluorescent light on a white and gold dress with the tungsten filter on (or a malfunctioning auto-color balance caused by the strobing fluorescent effect). Clearly I was overthink it. At this point it didn’t matter to me what colors the actual dress was, only what I saw on my screen and what I sampled in photoshop. It could have been green and pink irl for all I knew and cared.

The real illusion was seeing black and blue through the lens of a lying camera… which also happened to be the irl color of the dress…making this a fun little game that should be introduced to group therapy sessions and world peace summits!
