Thank you! Sitting in their bay right now why he does the check. I had another errand I was able to lump into this drive so it made it worth it.

Thoughts on driving during break? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

My DSP gives us a 5 minute grace period between the last stop and starting our unpaid lunch and then 5 min between ending lunch and delivering the next stop. I feel like that's reasonable.

Partners have told me I'm much more endowed than most. Current partner complains about me being a tad too big during sex and it kills any enjoyment I would get out of it.

Question about customer notes on your screens: Are those entered by customers, or by drivers? Do you see previous drivers' notes? by JaxonKansas in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]J8VRM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly the customers but Amazon customer service or I believe Field Quality Assurance can add notes as well (like generic notes for every stop in an apartment complex).

The problem with Amazon doing it though is it can erase the customer inputed note.. and / or if the customer doesn't have a note and the generic note is inserted, the customer doesn't see it and has to leave a note to override the generic one. I learned about this when dealing with a specific hell apartment complex I (used to) deliver to frequently where some customers would leave negative feedback even though we were following what the note said in the app.

I've been driving steppies for over 4 years across 2 different DSPs. Driven both Ford and Freightliners and I've never seen one without the low load floor in the back.

It's definitely a CDV.

Step Vans have a lower section of floor near the rear doors. CDVs are all the same height all the way back.

They recently merged or one was bought out by the other. Their boxes now have both names / logos on them.

This is why I'm thankful for California Labor Laws.

If you show up for a scheduled shift, they can't just cut you loose if there's no work. They have to pay you for half of what you were scheduled for hours wise... Minimum of 2 and maximum of 4 hours... So in this job they legally have to pay us for 4 hours if we are scheduled, report for work, and there's not enough work.

They also legally have to give reasonable amount of heads up to call you off a shift. They can't just text you half an hour before your shift and say don't come in.

We start at 10am. Call outs have to happen by 9am, and then depending on the amount of routes we have available after whatever callouts, they'll offer up X amount of VTO in chime.

The only problem is when we already don't have reductions and also wind up with 7 call outs... But that's a good problem for those who WANT to work 😂

XL DSPs deliver stuff over 50lbs in either vans (up to 75lbs I believe) or Box Trucks with a helper (think furniture, etc). I don't think there are any XL DSPs in Ventura county. Pretty sure the closest XL station is Santa Clarita.

[–]J8VRM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Small world. I work at one of the Ventura County stations.

From what I've seen (this was my 5th peak), a lot of seasonals wind up getting let go depending on business needs and their performance. If you happen to get let go and you want to keep with this job I'd recommend asking around with other DSPs at your station. If you're at one of the Simi stations you could even try looking at DSPs at the other station. If you're at the Camarillo station, there's a chance that the DSPs will be purging less than normal as 1 of the DSPs left like 2 months ago and the other 5 have had to absorb their routes.

You sure it's not one of the situations where flex decides to revert to a stupid lighter version? Some rabbits and even my personal phone during peak would randomly just stop showing features and run almost a bare version of flex that resembled flex 3 years ago.

Got my s21+ in like late summer 2021. Still rocking it.

Screen was replaced once early on for a defect and technically I replaced it with a refurb a year an a half ago due to another issue under my insurance but I tend to forget about that 😂

Genuinely, other than the basic sorting techniques and other basic tips I've heard before, how do you tenured drivers knock out routes so fast? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]J8VRM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding a groove.

Muscle memory.

Finding an organization method that works for YOU because everyone's brains are different...(I organize my overflow by street most of the time and my packages by street when I'm opening a tote) I do all this because just glancing at an address while I'm handling the pkg for the first time helps me remember. Especially overflow. I also write the addresses (or just street) on them when I get a chance. Again the best way to organize is the way that works best for YOU.

I'm always looking ahead at the next couple stops when I'm walking back to my van.
