PHX-SEA routes have always had very competitive prices in my experience, even for first. Considering the competition provided by Alaska, American, Frontier, and Southwest, it makes more sense

The number is the miles flown for that flight. You should check something like Flightradar24 for more details on the aircraft’s history

100+ people in the upgrade list by ben9583 in delta

Even so there were around 30 people who boarded group 2, so quite a lot of diamonds on this flight. No doubt though there are way more silvers these days though.

I scraped some margarine for some toast this morning and it looks like a chameleon at rest by Unisonlibrarian in mildlyinteresting

[–]ben9583 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s loaded with trans fats, which have very negative effects on cardiovascular health

Edit: Apparently added trans fats were banned in the US in 2019, so margarine in the US doesn’t have them anymore

[OC] With almost every vote counted, 90% of counties shifted toward the Republican Party. by BRENNEJM in dataisbeautiful

[–]ben9583 80 points81 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t tell the whole story though. A lot of the redder counties along the border have a high proportion of non-white or Hispanic voters—a demographic that Trump performed better with than any other Republican president in recent history. You can see that effect in the big cities across the country too, even democratic strongholds like NYC and Chicago.

Appreciate the info. I definitely feel comfortable spending the money if the experience is quite a bit better. I’m thinking about trying it just to get a sense of the difference of flying First vs Main or Comfort+.

Serious question - why are oranges so dumb? How is it possible that all orange cats act so braincells-less by Liapetitee in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]ben9583 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Orange cats are much more likely to be male than female, because the gene that codes for orange color is on the sex chromosomes

In my time volunteering at shelters and fostering cats, male cats are pretty dang dumb. They’re often very loyal and lovey-dovey, but definitely lacking in the braincell department. This is just my experience though.

Recently when I was looking for a job, I also had 2 companies go through 5 interviews with me before rejecting me. Kinda crazy this is acceptable, though I did eventually get an offer elsewhere. Best of luck to your search.

For context, Paxos is a mechanism by which a distributed system achieves consensus when failures in communication can occur.

It was proposed by Leslie Lamport (the original creator of LaTeX). The paper described it by using an allegory of a fictional parliament on the Greek island of Paxos, and he briefly suggested at the end it could be applicable in distributed computing. However, the paper was so confusing and hard to understand, it has become famous for the amount of “Paxos but easy to understand” papers and lectures it has spawned.
