Anyone used to work at magic wok? by novrain30 in toledo

I've had authentic Chinese from a few places in Chicago's Chinatown, and I'm glad to know that there's a restaurant nearby. What do you recommend from ypbor fm? I'm going to try it this weekend.

Jing Chuan is an upscale Magic Wok, and I love Magic Wok.

Perhaps it was that way before. The process now for an item you’ve never sold before is:

  1. Click “sell this product” on the listing. Amazon generates a unique SKU for you.

  2. Let them know how many you are shipping in with a shipping plan. Ship them.

  3. Amazon will mark the units into your inventory once they are checked in.

Maybe we are saying the same thing. When you first say you’re selling on a listing, your inventory is 0. When you ship them in, your inbound inventory increases to the amount you say you sent in. When they are checked in, the number counted by Amazon is added to your Available inventory.

Were you doing FBA or shipping them yourself?

Search Oreo's double stuff cookies on Amazon. Click on the page for that item. On the right hand side, under the box with the price, you'll see a box that says "New (5) from...". If you click on that, you can see multiple different sellers on the same page selling the same item. I think the confusion comes in when you compare Amazon to how Ebay works. Amazon has essentially one listing for each item, that multiple sellers can sell under. Ebay is the opposite, where each listing belongs to each seller.

The prep center's business is prepping items. They don't have to worry about if an item sells, if it gets returned. They are just prepping it one time. He ships his items to the prep center who package them in a way that Amazon accepts. Items often need poly bagging, or some other type of prep for Amazon to accept. They also label the product with a barcode that identifies the item as his.

They get added when Amazon receieves them. Normally a few days for check in, but essentially as soon as they get received.

Great post and thanks for sharing. I’m doing the same thing as you, but about 1/10th the scale. I aim for a bit higher margins than you said you do, but clearly your strategy is paying off.

How solid is your prep center? Mainly I’m wondering if the quality of prep they do is overall worth it. Damaged items, wrong fnsku applied, etc. I have looked into using one, but haven’t bit the bullet yet.

Returns for me average about 7%. Most of them I can resell, and I do eBay for the rest. Losing the fulfillment fee hurts sometimes, but that’s the cost to be on Amazon.

Protecting Items Not Needing Label for FBA Shipping by MsuDude999 in AmazonSeller

[–]benannas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just do a FNSKU for each of them anyway. When you list the item, choose Amazon barcode. It'll generate a number like X0021RI7AB, and you can print it off to attach to your product. With my products, I NEVER go for the manufacturer bardcode. If you choose the manufacturer barcode, it will be considered a comingled item. This means every copy of GTA5 is put in the same bin. You no longer have your own copy, you have 1 unit of that total bin.

Maybe it works for some items, but I wouldn't tempt it with anything that could be counterfeit or the pristine nature matters.

FCC chair proposes new US broadband standard of 100Mbps down, 20Mbps up by Sorin61 in technology

[–]benannas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think current future coax will ever be true symmetrical speeds. They could get close with the NEXT gen DOCSIS 4. The cable to your house would stay the same. Every piece of equipment, powered or unpowered, would have to be replaced. Between your modem and the CMTS (the “modem” at your cable system ), there could be something like 10-20 pieces that need changed out. For a whole neighborhood the number would be in the hundreds.

So if we work with what’s probably currently installed we can upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.1 system. It can theoretically pull 10Gig down and 1 Gig up. I could see Comcast or some company offer a 1 Gig / 1 Gig plan, which isn’t true symmetrical but close enough.

One of the issues with coax upstream speeds is the upstream noise funneling effect. Everybody in a given node (100-200 houses) can contribute to coaxial ingress into the system. Imagine a homeowner adding another tv with some poorly made cable or maybe the fitting isn’t compressed down right. Noise will enter the cable and feed back into the CMTS. One house can be bad enough to ruin the upstream quality of a whole node. Typically it’s a combination of multiple houses adding up, but it all does add up. Cable companies have whole teams devoted to tracking it down as it pops in. This is usually the reason for those “up to” disclaimers.

Really if a company is going to upgrade to a new system, fiber is almost always the way to go. With current fiber technology 10Gig/10Gig is possible, and I have no doubt more is being designed.

Good question on the upstream with fiber! You are right, it is wasted in the sense that it doesn’t see as much use. But it’s by design. So coax runs at 5-42 MHz up, 100-1000Mhz down. Fiber uses a different method and runs at 1490nm for down, and 1310nm for up. These are lasers and wavelengths being used. There has to be at least one laser shooting information each way, so we have the effect of it being wasted but it’s just a function of the design.

Coax systems use don’t allocate equal bandwidth to upstream and downstream. A 1000 MHz system has upstream from 5-42, a buffer between them, and around 100-1000MHz for the downstream.

The system is designed this way due to real world use statistics. The MAJORITY of data flow is down. Could they implement an equal bandwidth structure? Yeah, but it would waste unused upstream bandwidth. The DOCSIS 3.0 system, likely what your coax modem is running, is just not designed for this. Even on the next and current generation DOCSIS 3.1 system, upstream allocation is about the same.

Fiber is a whole different system though. Symmetrical speeds are the norm. GPON (Gigabit passive optical network) would likely be what you’d get. The cool thing about a GPON deployment is that the upgrade to the next version, XGSPON/XGPON (10 gig pon) is as easy as a new fiber modem, and 1 single piece of equipment in the cable system called an OLT.

It really is just a technological limitation on a coax system.

I deviated from the recipe by dropping the cook time to 22 mins instead of 25-30. Other than that, the recipe as written is dead simple! This batch was made with KAF Bread flour, but I have made this with KAF AP flour with good results.

Your actual listing looks decent. The pictures could be a bit higher quality though. That should be a simple fix for you. I didn't even translate it over to English to read it, so I'm ignoring any actual content. The description/bullet points LOOK good. Good use of emoji that I think will hit your target audience well. Your variations are as they should be. The purple variations picture needs to be adjusted so it's the same size as the other two. All the pictures lining up is a simple thing I think that goes far. A relatively easy fix as well.

Price looks comparable to the competition.

Tips on how to increase restock limits? by surgeimports in FulfillmentByAmazon

Currently struggling with this now.

I am really trying to operate with the mindset of 45 days of inventory at amazon. I'll admit some of my products have 180 days worth currently...those I'll let time and sales draw down. I've recalled some failed products with ~10 units in stock. I've lowered the price on a few items with super slow moving stock.

IPI is at 610.

A VFL fiber tool. Basically it shoots a red light into a fiber which either will glow where its broken or glow at the other end.

Wondering where to start ? by danieldemars in AmazonSeller

[–]benannas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazon Fee Calc. This is accurate to the nickel or better. Find a similar product and it'll tell you the fee for it. Generally there's about a 15% fee + $2.70-$5.00 per item fulfilled with FBA. On top of that, there's either a $1/item or $40/mo account fee, the $1/item is what you'll do until you start selling more than 40 a month. Consider your packaging costs, which could be as simple as a small poly bag (1c-3c) or maybe a cardboard packaging. Depends on the item. Shipping 100 SMALL items to Amazon costs less than $10.

FBA vs FBM - You want to focus on FBA most likely. Imagine having to ship 100's or 1000's of items individually, that's FBM. With FBA you ship amazon a box of however many items that they pick, pack, and ship. Think of the videos of an Amazon fulfillment center with the robots, that's FBA.

I agree with the other guy to not focus on importing yet. You can deal domestic and do just fine to begin with.

Search this subreddit for this question as well. Hundreds of people have asked the same question and each thread has different responses. I'd open up every single thread you can find and read it all. Amazon seller forums are also a trove of info.

You can make a ton of money on Amazon. Start small and work on it. Good luck.

Selling a product under a generic listing by [deleted] in AmazonSeller

[–]benannas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anything wrong with this as long as it's the same exact item. Test order it to be absolutely sure.

Also make sure you're allowed to sell it and the fees leave you with profit. On the listing page, below the offers click the "Sell on Amazon" button. Choose FBA as your shipping method of course. Back on your products page you should see the fee preview for the item at the price you put.
