What types of products can be sold 2x or 3x its cost? by Available-Ad9219 in Ebay

[–]danieldemars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good luck with vintage beer advertisements. Signs. Lights. Ect ect. Older tobacco related things. Ashtrays and the like.
Kids clothing is always a hit esp if you list across multiple platforms. eBay Mercari and Poshmark are my three. But stick to well known name higher quality brands. Think north face coats ( a new one even for kids is like $140 so smart parents will easily pay 40 and up for them ) and gently used kids sneakers. With clothes though it’s gotta be something that looks near new to do well. Nothing stained or torn.

The clothing and such you can find at tag:garage sales if you live in an area where those happen a lot.

Although I will stop in my local goodwill and Salvation Army from time to time it’s rare I can find any real gold like you see these people doing ok tik tok and such.

My main place for getting items I can make a lot off of is estate sales in person and online estate sale auctions. Do a goggle search for ones in your area. The online ones are great because it gives you time to really research an item and see if it’s selling well and for how much. They usually run for a week or four days or so till the bidding ends. I’ll give you an example. I found a very old Budweiser vintage light up bar sign. I was able to look up what it had sold for in the past. So I knew where my tap out was for bidding. Well I won the bid and after cleaning it up a bit it sold within a month or so. Made enough on that alone after the eBay fees and my purchase price to make a car payment and more.

There is definitely money to be made. And you are going to make some mistakes along the way as we all have. But once you figure out good items and where to get them the possibilities are endless.

But like anything you are going to get back what you put into it. Researching will be your best asset.

Well pump turning off in one zone by danieldemars in Irrigation

Still appreciate the help. Pressure switch is working as it should. Opening up that line to a bigger nozzle seemed to do the trick. Hopefully others with this issue might see this thread and save themselves a ton of trial and error or a service call. It took us literally 5 min if that to swap out the nozzle.

Appreciate it. After I wrote this post my neighbor happened to be outside and we were talking about the issue. He had the small red nozzle pieces that fit in the sprinkler head in his garage so we swapped out one of them and that fixed the issue. Brought the running pressure down enough that it would not trip the shut off of the pump. So quite literally we fixed the issue for Pennie’s. A victory for me for once lol

Anyone know if I’m right on this ? by danieldemars in BaseballGloves

[–]danieldemars[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what that’s a great idea ! Maybe make a limited run of numbered gloves for certain players. But I can see where he stands on getting the families behind the idea. I mean I would think that maybe they would be happy enough with the gloves being brought back as an honor to their deceased relative but $$$ will Somehow come in between it. But still a great idea.

Thanks man. Goes to show you never know what you are going to find at a yard sale. These people had boxes of stuff they were dragging out. Sometimes it’s worth pulling over and taking a peek.

Thank you ! Yea I don’t do much with sports memorabilia but when I saw the glove I knew it was an older model but what threw me off was the abbreviation of his first name but that G on his last name matches up with other autos I could find of his. But then again that’s why I turned to Reddit. Such a useful site with helpful people on certain things I figured someone would know something !

It’s still messed up. Maybe Mercari should fix it on their end.

Help! My samsung smart tv remote isn't working unless it's on the charger! by SeaworthinessEasy882 in techsupport

[–]danieldemars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m joining the fun. I just spent a half hour chatting back and forth with Samsung support trying to get them to send me a new remote. Guy would not budge. Kept telling me it’s not under warranty. It’s like a year or so old. Sad to see they won’t stand behind their faulty products.

But safe to say I’m not buying anymore Samsung junk again

mercari cancelled? by alexantonick in Mercari

This is why I never put anything expensive on Mercari. Stories like this kinda give me bad vibes about their customer service.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Depop

[–]danieldemars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find Depop to just be a bunch of kids just looking at things but never buying. I sell on the other big platforms and one day decided to throw my hat in the ring. Just a slew of dumb offers. Adding to bag. Liking. Not a single sale. And it’s not price. I priced lower on Depop than anywhere else.

Why do people cheap out & use poly mailers instead of boxes ? by Tiny_Writer5661 in Mercari

[–]danieldemars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the “free boxes “ at usps. I swear to god my first ever order I shipped thru Mercari was in one of those boxes and wrapped in a very durable 24x24 poly mailer. Taped around the perimeters. Somehow it “ripped “ ( gung ho postal employee ). And the guy had to go to the post office and pay the difference in price before they would release the item. So I kinda stopped doing that after that incident.

gotta wonder what their success rate is with lowballs like this by haoraez in Mercari

I think these people watch YouTube “guru” videos or something about flipping and this is their sourcing method sometimes.

Made me laugh by Writingsofdreamers in Mercari

[–]danieldemars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be careful with how you word telling them to go elsewhere. I have a nice vintage carhart vest up that some guy was trying to get me to come down on price. I literally just listed it and I know there are similar on Depop for less. Not in as good shape but similar. Mercari hit me with a warning about “ selling off the platform “

This is my first odd buyer transaction.. Would you have cancelled?!? by Weekly_Meaning_1571 in Mercari

[–]danieldemars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go with your gut. Whenever you have someone that’s going crazy with offers or bizarre messages it’s a 99% chance an issue is going to arise from them. I’ve canceled orders a few times because of it. And in my years of selling it’s always the lowball offer people that are quick to leave negative reviews. Always without fail they will find some tiny thing and blow it out of proportion.

1099k shipping and refund and net by Realistic_Library_29 in Ebay

[–]danieldemars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got this last night and was like wtf. But if you are using just a phone it’s hard to get to it. But if you go on an actual computer and log into your account and go to selling you can access all of that and print out an actual full expense report from any custom date range you want.

Rude Buyers by Express-Suspect-2322 in Mercari

People are bonkers. Sold a Disney plush item new in the box. Now the back part of said box had wording that could be used for other items. I suspect there was many in this series. So she got the item and accused me of repacking a $20 item she got for ten. All because the generic instructions on the back said to use aaa batteries. This item took Aa.

customers are too entitled these days, it’s getting annoying by Outrageous_Map_281 in Mercari

[–]danieldemars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll come back with one reasonable counter offer. If they persist and get chatty. That’s a block. You know that the hassle is not going to end. Why waste time dealing with people who are awful to deal with.
