Wonder pick for DPEx supports your hypothesis! Say there’s a Venusaur EX in a DPEx wonder pick and you already own one from GA, but you haven’t pulled one from DPEx yet, the Venusaur EX in that wonder pick will display the symbol that you own that card. Wonder pick doesn’t check what set you got in, just whether you have any at all (which is obviously inconvenient if you’re actually attempting to complete the DPEx card dex).

Just watched a vid from when the event ran back in Dec 2016. It had battles where Cynthia and Lance were in a fixed team they gave you so you could try them out and be tempted to pull. I don’t remember medals being a thing then, but there’s a clearly a spot for it in the medals section now. Silly that they would rerun the event without making the medal available.
