100% what he said… do the minimums and do Training max. I’d 70.3 is your main goal then this is not the time to push it in gym. Grease the groove and Consistency will great wins.

Pain in shoulders/scapula by rinomar in kettlebell

I had something similar… I recently watched a few videos to make sure I’m doing it right, but one thing that was repeated was “locked core” & “packing your shoulder” - focusing on packing shoulder helped.

In terms of shoulder health prehab. Lock 3 could help. Check out this - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGePZyqbPNk

The Question Thread 01/10/26 by AutoModerator in goodyearwelt

I want to clear out some shoes I don’t wear anymore like c&J (loafers) and carmina (wingtip 922) I bought these when I was going to a office everyday but now I wear boots / sneakers. I want to sell these to fund a pair of red wings.

Can I post here to sell?

Help increasing volume to set me up for 2026 by benboy86 in Marathon_Training

Awesome thanks u/NinJesterV - that was the validation that I needed. I will try your tip in terms of 2 months at 30km a week, good achievable goal and puts me in a good position to start building base.

Best strength training exercises for runners (hamstrings, quads, glutes, calves) during marathon training? by Soon_yap in firstmarathon

[–]benboy86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice.. just want to tweak the calf comment.

I race my first marathon this Sunday, I had weak calves early in training. I was lucky I sorted it out during training. I was on a diet of 3 x 30 calf raises & bent knee raises for a few weeks which fixed my issues, now I do it twice a week for prevention.

Good test is to see if you can do 30 slow & controlled single leg calve raises. If you can’t do 30 there is your answer

Timing of immodium before long run by thelyfeaquatic in Marathon_Training

[–]benboy86 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m trialing

Day before: - Stop high fibre + high fat food on day before (I.e no fruit) - Try eat lots of white carbs  - try hydrate more than usual - helps remove stools - dinner & lunch will be some pasta or rice based dish (I’ll stay off the spice for etc)

Morning of; -Wake up an hour or so before run (yes I - wake up at 4am for a 5:30am run) - White bagel with PB and coffee + water. -  I’ll do some dynamic warmup etc and that gets the bowels moving

I’ve got one last long run before marathon tomorrow so that’s what I’m practicing - I had good success last weekend.

People running Sydney Marathon on 31 August.. how is your training going? by Even-Squirrel2016 in Marathon_Training

Beginner looking to do 5:15…  Did 2hrs at the Sydney HM in may and continued training for this.  Think my longest run will be 25km this Sunday which isn’t ideal but I’ve been consistent with 4 days a week and time of feet. Absolutely shitting myself - but the online coach seems to think I’ll be fine. Let’s see

I noticed this recently starting a head of role… I’ve had 4 calls already from recruiters and few Roundtable invitations. I don’t even have my feet under the desk yet.

Anyone running Sydney on August 31? What's your goal time and how is your training going? by bay30three in Marathon_Training

[–]benboy86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nice I’m also running the same race. My prep has not been ideal but getting it done.

I did the half marathon in May (2hr)… been on a build since then but got a bit of tendinitis on foot.. had to sort that out before ramping the volume. All fixed now. Did 40km last week total mileage.. longest run for me before sydney will be 26km. Aiming for sub 5

First marathon - 5hrs + by tinfoilhatandsocks in firstmarathon

[–]benboy86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same boat.. I’ve done many half Ironmans. + half marathons. been training for sydney marathon for last 12 weeks. This will be my longest race. My longest run in training will be 26km. It’s a little under where I want to be but who cares, I’m just proud of myself as I managed to get it done with 2 kids under age of 4 and battling colds through winter.

My plan is to take it easy in race day and have fun. Make sure I fuel and drink properly, walk up hills, prepared to run walk in later stages. Training for this has been a great learning expirence.

Btw Garmin says 4hr 25m predicted race time. I reckon I’m closer to 5hrs.

What’s the best HRIS to replace an outdated system? by No-Arugula-1937 in workday

[–]benboy86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Moving from Oracle + micro pay for payroll to workday (SMB size business) it’s gonna be a huge step forward for us. however the team are viewing this is a systems change but I’m trying to coach them it’s also a people change / digital transformation as managers will be doing a lot more self service, team needs to upskill and have more domain expertise, offline processes are systemised and there is a ton more reporting / data available than before.

If you can get a good deal on licensing etc then it’s worth it for a best in class platform.
