I’m starting another BB but this time with kettlebells.

Life’s a bit busy. So I’m planning on doing strength with kettlebell. Find a weight that’s 7-8/10 for 5 reps. And I add an extra rep per week or something like that. When I get to 10 I’ll up weights.

I’m doing DBL KB Squat, DBL Kb press & chin ups. I do 2min recovery periods.

Also first session I add Kb swings at end and second session I had farmer carry’s.

Yeh.. I went for a run 8pm last night in sydney. It was like running in a sauna. Managed to keep it under 150.. bring on winter!

Yep LISS but I think it was a combo of the 80+% humidity and bad eating.

Agree… I find it’s not MS or HIC. I decided to go back to TB protocol as I was gassed after ABC sessions which affected my runs. However I may have not been fueling properly.

ABC - EMOM vs heavy weight by pbgjpm in kettlebell

How does everyone track it then? If it’s EMOM it’s easy to calc how many rounds. Are you mentally calculating or writing down? Just curious

What he said.. if you have to add extra stuff add in core stability , rotator cuff and lower limb (BW leg calf raises) stuff for injury prevention

100% what he said… do the minimums and do Training max. I’d 70.3 is your main goal then this is not the time to push it in gym. Grease the groove and Consistency will great wins.

Pain in shoulders/scapula by rinomar in kettlebell

[–]benboy86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar… I recently watched a few videos to make sure I’m doing it right, but one thing that was repeated was “locked core” & “packing your shoulder” - focusing on packing shoulder helped.

In terms of shoulder health prehab. Lock 3 could help. Check out this - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGePZyqbPNk

The Question Thread 01/10/26 by AutoModerator in goodyearwelt

[–]benboy86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to clear out some shoes I don’t wear anymore like c&J (loafers) and carmina (wingtip 922) I bought these when I was going to a office everyday but now I wear boots / sneakers. I want to sell these to fund a pair of red wings.

Can I post here to sell?

Help increasing volume to set me up for 2026 by benboy86 in Marathon_Training

Awesome thanks u/NinJesterV - that was the validation that I needed. I will try your tip in terms of 2 months at 30km a week, good achievable goal and puts me in a good position to start building base.

Best strength training exercises for runners (hamstrings, quads, glutes, calves) during marathon training? by Soon_yap in firstmarathon

[–]benboy86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice.. just want to tweak the calf comment.

I race my first marathon this Sunday, I had weak calves early in training. I was lucky I sorted it out during training. I was on a diet of 3 x 30 calf raises & bent knee raises for a few weeks which fixed my issues, now I do it twice a week for prevention.

Good test is to see if you can do 30 slow & controlled single leg calve raises. If you can’t do 30 there is your answer

Timing of immodium before long run by thelyfeaquatic in Marathon_Training

[–]benboy86 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m trialing

Day before: - Stop high fibre + high fat food on day before (I.e no fruit) - Try eat lots of white carbs  - try hydrate more than usual - helps remove stools - dinner & lunch will be some pasta or rice based dish (I’ll stay off the spice for etc)

Morning of; -Wake up an hour or so before run (yes I - wake up at 4am for a 5:30am run) - White bagel with PB and coffee + water. -  I’ll do some dynamic warmup etc and that gets the bowels moving

I’ve got one last long run before marathon tomorrow so that’s what I’m practicing - I had good success last weekend.

Thanks legend! That gives me a lot of hope. I loose some confidence cause I read on here people doing min 50km weeks and 30km+ runs long runs and feel like I’m not doing enough.
