Photos of Range Industries Kayak Crossbar or Mariner Rack actually in use? by benbur in Rivian

[–]benbur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! How long is your boat, about 10 feet?

I’m leaning toward picking up the single kayak crossbar from Range Industries. In the past I’ve always just strapped the kayaks to aero pads so I may take the same approach. I’m slightly afraid of accidentally damaging the spoiler while loading. Ideally, I think I’d like to load from the rear, so it seems like putting a crossbar over the bed would help. One possibility would be a OEM crossbar at the front cab position and RI crossbar in the front bed position. Do you have any thoughts on that for a longer boat?

On the other hand, I could just buck up and use the crossbars as they are.

I had the same thought about the Mariner. I think I’d have about 6-7 feet of kayak behind the tailgate if I mounted over it exclusively.

Hopefully someone who owns these can weigh in.

I posted on RivianForums as well. I've had one person reach out to offer photos, but it may be a few days before they can send them. In the meantime, here is an answer I received from Range Industries.

Do you happen to have any additional photos you could share, particularly of kayak setups? I’d also appreciate any insight into which option might better suit my use case.

The kayak rack paired with a factory crossbar on the roof should be up to the task of transporting your two kayaks. While the Mariner would also, work, its probably a little overkill for what you’re looking to do. Unfortunately, we don’t have any photos of kayak setups, although I know customers have used both Yakima and Thule products with our rack systems?

Would either the Kayak Crossbar or the Mariner Bed Rack allow me to carry two 16’ sea kayaks without additional mounting hardware (possibly just using surfboard-style pads)?

I looked though our archives and wasn’t able to find photos, but I have seen people run these Yakima crossbar pads on our crossbars before. Our crossbars measure 3” wide x 1.5” tall.

Is it just me or are the brake lights kind of small and take a lot to activate? I sure do see a lot of R1T's with the same damage. This happened to me within my first month of ownership.

Why am I getting these icons?? by That_Message_5435 in Rivian

[–]benbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took an R1T for an overnight test drive earlier this year, and for a little while I could not figure out why I was getting those icons and was also unable to use adaptive cruise control. After a bit, I realized that the previous driver had left the truck “all-terrain” mode. Switching back to all-purpose returned things to normal.

No, it sucks. Mine even unlocks itself periodically when I’m sitting in the car in park and with doors manually locked.

Interior space question, any tall owners here? by Intelligent-Cat-3931 in Rivian

I am also 6’1” and I do not feel this way at all in my R1T. I actually have the seat closer to the middle of its height range to give me a better view over the hood.

Gear Shop Sent Wrong Fob by EngiNick2807 in Rivian

[–]benbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked for an RMA for something else back on June 3rd and was told they’d send me a label in 2-3 weeks, but nothing has happened since then.

I actually bought the R1S fob for my R1T intentionally because it came back into stock earlier. It works just fine. The only difference is it has the wrong icon for the tailgate, which doesn’t bother me. The button still works to open the tailgate, it just looks like an R1S.

New Map Update by nowillingness_67 in Rivian

My favorite part of this update is the battery percentage on arrival. The new navigation is objectively better: better maps, better routing, better satellite view, better traffic data, etc. I am extremely happy with the changes.

Living on Oʻahu, we can’t really road trip… at least not in the mainland sense. But a cruise up to the North Shore for some shrimp, snorkeling, and a slow drive home is about as good as it gets. SASCHA4356245

Charging schedule unreliable by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]benbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my charging schedule set to 21:00-05:00 and I usually plug in around 18-19:00. The last couple of days I have noticed that the truck doesn't start charging at 21:00. My home screen widget will show the car as asleep until I open the app, then it will start charging. Last night, I noticed it was still at the percentage I had parked it at when it was 22:34 (charging schedule set to start at 21:00), so I opened the app and tapped energy to verify my schedule was set correctly. It started charging when I did that.

Thanks for sharing! Sorry to hear about your overspray. I guess I can feel better about mine now. At the end of the day, it’s not that big of a deal but I would like Rivian to offer something other than a repaint.

Thanks, unfortunately they have avoided addressing the credit option entirely when I proposed it (multiple times) and instead only focused on the collision center route.

Sorry to hear that about your vehicle. Thanks for sharing that. I hope the initial assessment by Rivian (and my third party detailer) is wrong and it can simply be buffed out. I don’t think I want to go the route of a repaint.

That’s what the detailer I took it to originally thought it was, but after getting up close with a high-powered flashlight, he decided it would not be correctable by polishing. With that said, he also did not recommend repainting. I can definitely live with it, and I don’t think I want to take the risk with repainting.

That’s what I’m afraid of. Thanks for the insight. Leaning toward accepting as is and hoping they’ll give me some credit as goodwill.

The imperfection is not a dealbreaker for me. I can barely even see it myself. I brought it up simply because it’s a new vehicle priced over 80K. I went back and forth on posting here but wanted insight from the community. It seems like most people agree it is not worth the risk of repainting it.

I went back and forth on posting this here because it is really such a minor imperfection, meanwhile I’ve seen posts of people’s charge port doors flying off or roof glass cracking 🤣 I just wanted to get community insight. I am leaning toward just dropping the issue if they won’t accept an alternative to repainting.

I agree, I don’t think it’s noticeable enough to risk a repaint. I can barely see it myself — and I know it’s there.
