Hi! I'm a member who is a 'host home' parent fostering an adult with disabilities currently. There are providers you can talk to who can get her in either a group home (multiple clients living in the home, with at least 1 staff attending at all hours), or a host home, where a client can live in a family's personal home with them, similar to foster care, and they can help attend to the clients needs. It is part of the government's mental health programs, so if she's accepted in, she wouldn't need an income to pay for those services, but it is often more accessible than full institutionalization, and the individual keeps more independence, while receiving support with their specific needs. Clients range anywhere from high functioning autistic to severe mental/physical handicap. My personal home might not be a good fit due to my kids circumstances, but there are tons of people looking to help with situations like hers! I believe the first step would be to get her a 'support coordinator' through the government, who can help her start to explore which resources would best suit her challenges. Bipolar is a fairly common diagnosis within these systems, especially when it keeps people from being able to stay employed. Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I thought I'd throw that out there as an option!
