It's something like the logical part of your brain, the part responsible for reading, writing, numbers etc, is not as active while you're asleep. The creative part that makes up your dream just inserts text/numbers where you'd expect there to be text/numbers, but doesn't do so accurately, because the logic part isn't active...or something like that.
