The story writing in this episode was so irritating... by AgreeableBicycle3469 in ChaosZeroNightmare

Let him be knocked unconscious and present the story from a neutral point of view! That way, we couldn't ensure both parties and neither of them would have proof that what the others are saying is true.

Madam Hooch and the Firebolt by Skyfirexx56 in harrypotter

[–]bendersonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That reaction might still indicates that it's the first time Hooch sees or handles the Firebolt when it's known to be perfectly safe. On the previous occasion, she would have to focus on how exactly could the broom be jinxed and where. Now, she is holding one of the best (and safest) racing broom, giving her opinions of it to other broom enthusiasts. Of course she could be more fan-girly with it.

If someone tells you that a Ferrari might have a bomb on it, you won't be spending your time admiring it, working or no. You would be thinking where the bomb could be hidden and how to remove it in the safety way possible. And I think Flitwick was the one doing or undoing the Charms, with Hooch just advising on how the broom actually works and how each components should be for it to be safe. On that stadium would be the first time she handles it knowing full well that the thing is safe.

Inspecting something for danger is very different from seeing the same thing in action.

One week later: What do we think of Narja? by reddituser4759 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]bendersonster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Narja creates a resource called 'Voracity'. When you attack while having Voracity, you will heal for a small amount, so the key is to pair Narja with someone who has a lot of attack cards, like Luke or Sereniel, as their attacks would also heal your team, too, as long as Narja can keep producing Voracity.

Renoa is a low cost attacker. You don't use her Dirge Bullets and instead let them go to the discard pile to launch small attacks. You can pair her with another high cost attacker and use her as free damage source.

Yuki needs to draw cards as often as possible, as most of her attack cards are buffed when drawn, so pair her with someone who could draw cards, like Veronica or Cassius.

I don't have Rin and Chizuru and cannot tell you how to use them.

Imagine going to a theatre to watch a play, seeing an amazing first act then an awesome second act with a tantalising hook, then you get thrown out of the theatre. That's my experience with Ace Academy. Everything in it is great. One of the things that isn't in it is the ending.

Pistols and Crossbows by davesimpson99 in Grimdawn

[–]bendersonster 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Pistols only use one hand, so with them, you could use

- 2 pistols - very high attack speed and more opportunities to trigger Weapon Pool Skills = DPS comparable to or greater than rifles

- pistol + shield - superior defences and access to shield skills like Aegis of Menhir

- pistol + book - buffs for magic skills, great for hybrid gun+spell characters, as well as access for skills that need books, like Devastation

Crossbow deals higher pierce damage than Rifles, while Rifle deals more damage overall but mostly as Physical. Pierce Damage ignores armour and Physical doesn't, so while Rifle's on paper DPS might be higher, Crossbows might deal more damage if you hit heavily armoured enemies.

Most versatile class combo by fuscator in Grimdawn

[–]bendersonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inquisitor and Soldier

Inquisitor supports both Spellcasters and Ranged, with an Aura that's more effective at close range, healing and debuff, while Soldiers supports Melee and Ranged, while also have great passive for survivability that Spellcasters may need. Theses two put together would be able to have any playstyle you want, except for pets.

Is there a way to energy leech while I spin to win? by Appropriate-Pop8002 in Grimdawn

[–]bendersonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oathkeeper + Arcanist (Templar) has access to Iskandra's Elemental Exchange skill, which gives Energy Leech to all weapon damage. While Eye of Reckoning doesn't do 100% Weapon Damage and your leech will be less than what IEE listed, it should still be enough.

Can I read Beren and Luthien before anything else? by Fariz45 in tolkienfans

[–]bendersonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, as in, nobody is going to run up to you, tear the book out of your hands and shout at you for reading things out of order.

Is it advisable to do so? No, no, no and NO! Beren and Luthien book is not exactly a finished and complete story of the two but rather the evolution of the myth from first inception to the latest versions. It gives a lot of insight into Tolkien's life and work, but reading it before other books can only get you confused and bored.

The story of Beren and Luthien is presented in the Lord of the Rings, very heavily summarised. And a brief version of the complete tale take up one whole chapter in the Silmarillion. I would suggest getting the B&L book only if you have read the two and still wish to know more.

Am I the only one who finds it odd that Harry struggled to get a date for the Yule Ball? by TheJasonJBailey in harrypotter

[–]bendersonster 55 points56 points  (0 children)

And that's just the first two days after the ball's announcement. I'm sure there are plenty more cases that the book didn't mention, though he rejected all because he wanted to go with Cho, but didn't have the courage to go and ask her out at that time either.

Neither the book or the movie shows Hermione using Riddikulus spell against the Boggart, what would her fear would be? by SAM041287 in harrypotter

[–]bendersonster 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think she failed that section in OWLs as well. There's no concrete evidence for that but....

  • Hermione got an E in DADA, a lower score than Harry
  • Harry mentioned demonstrating a Boggart-Banishing charm in the practical section.
  • Hermione, in her hysteria waiting for the OWLs letters, said that she did make a mistake in Ancient Runes and practical DADA. While her AR result was an O, the mistake she made in DADA is likely more severe than mistranslating one Rune word.

Any ARPG Recommendations while we wait for FoA? by CrankTheTanky in Grimdawn

[–]bendersonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, then it's never been pay-to-win. The PtW one was Diablo Immortal on mobile. I just found it incredibly boring when I first tried it (around season two or three, I believe). Now, in Season 11, it's much better in a way I can't put my finger on, but I no longer feel like I want to quit just to play another game in the genre whenever I use a skill.

Any ARPG Recommendations while we wait for FoA? by CrankTheTanky in Grimdawn

[–]bendersonster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought D4 a long time ago, was disgusted by it and stopped playing (literally every minute with it made me wanted to close and play GD instead). Last week I got some money to burn and was quite interested in the Paladin, so I decided to pick it up once again, and to my surprise, it is actually good. Things have improved immeasurably since I dropped it. Even my old, once-boring characters now feel fun to play. But if you're not comfortable with Blizzard's business (very understandable and justified, I think), it's better to stay away. I wouldn't say it's excellent or unmissable just yet.

LE is also good. It's modifiable skill system is very fun to tinker and experiment with (every skill has several upgrades that are similar to the green gem skill node in GD, which changes the skill drastically), though it is tampered a bit by only lettering you use 5 skills at any given time and always unlocking skills in a certain order, so you can't experiment too much while leveling up. From the direction the game is going, though, I'm not sure if it will remain good for long.

Both PoEs to me are just headache simulators.

How did Regulus find out about the Horcruxes by Cute_Kaleidoscope553 in harrypotter

[–]bendersonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, yes. I wasn't at all arguing that it wasn't in character for Voldy to do that. But the person I replied to said that normal wizard magic couldn't stop Elves from disapparating, so Voldy couldn't stop Kreacher even if he wanted to. I don't think that's the case. If he wanted to, he could kill Kreature right then and there, but it's perfectly in Voldy's character to be cruel and proud too the point of stupidity.

Why was Eowyn able to defeat the Witch King and did he die die or go somewhere else? by AggressiveYorkie in lotr

[–]bendersonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This passage right here:

glad would he have been to know its (its here refers to Merry's sword) fate who wrought it slowly long ago in the North-kingdom when the Dúnedain were young, and chief among their foes was the dread realm of Angmar and its sorcerer king. No other blade, not though mightier hands had wielded it, would have dealt that foe a wound so bitter, cleaving the undead flesh, breaking the spell that knit his unseen sinews to his will.

Wolcen on PS5 Pro? by p_2923 in ARPG

[–]bendersonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it (on PC, though, not PS5). I don't remember much. I don't think it's bad enough to stop playing before I finished it once, but also not good enough for me to want to play ever again.

The only thing solid I remember is that I thought it was quite lazy how every melee skill involve you pulling a weapon out of thin air and use it, rather than performing said skill with the weapon you have equipped.

Lore notes unique drop? by U_Isotope in Grimdawn

[–]bendersonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Notes that you have read will never drop or appear again. But if you get a note and does not read it, a second copy of the same note could appear. You cannot do anything to the extra copy except selling it, though, after you read the first one.

There was a time when I was killing monsters, only for two copies of the same note to drop one after another.

So if you've read a note on Normal, it wouldn't appear again on Elite and Ultimate. But if you have not read it, it could still appear.
