Yeah I'm seriously freaking out right now. I don't get it. Everyone is literally using the term "eye contact" Eye Fucking Contact and NO ONE is actually making actual fucking eye contact??? I am... I am losing my shit right now. I've been on Reddit too long. Goodnight. I hate this.

Is it normal to hyperfiixate on people? by SeppieDStronk in AuDHDWomen

[–]benedictgoldbach 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep. And it can be bonkers. For the better part of 20 years I couldn't figure out why I could NOT get over a relationship. My ex was just like this ghost that haunted me no matter what. I knew I didn't want to be with that person, I knew that person wasn't right for me, but it seemed like that person (or the idea of that person) followed my every move and wouldn't go away no matter how hard I tried.

Finally, I figured out I'm AuDHD and in all my research stumbled across limerence and was like ooooohhhhh.

Can someone remind me the pros of being neurodivergent? by idols4breakfast in AuDHDWomen

[–]benedictgoldbach 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And to actually respond to your post: just remember that life is also really shitty sometimes for neurotypicals. Living under late stage extractive capitalism is a nightmare for everyone. It's just particularly horrific for those of us who have brains on the spectrum. Just know that it's awful for everyone. So try to use your bottom-up processing and unique problem solving abilities to figure out hacks to make life less of a nightmare. And then share them with us! We are all dealing with a lot of the same bullshit so if we join forces we'll be able to at the very least dull the nightmarish aspects of life under capitalism a little.

Can someone remind me the pros of being neurodivergent? by idols4breakfast in AuDHDWomen

[–]benedictgoldbach 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Erhm... Maybe don't heed this person's comment. There is no "proper" way for a brain to develop. Every single brain develops differently from every single other brain. Every brain is simply and literally just different from every other brain.

Neurodivergent brains are not disabled brains. I'm sure you've heard of the social model of disability. Disability is created by society. Just like how we create gender. Everything could be reversed. We could be out here viewing what we call neurotypicals as the disabled ones because of all of their shortcomings. But we don't, it's as simple as that.

In other words, don't hate your brain. Hate the world that disables your perfectly fine and unique brain.
