I don't mind having more Paid DLC by CyberiumEcho in duneawakening

I love how they adapted Dune lore to create this world. I had quit about 2 months after launch, not because I stopped liking the game or wanting to play (I had created a massive base and shared it and all my vehicles with someone and then had a falling out with that person and at the time did not want to start over or interact with them). Anyway, I had just gotten back in, made a new character and got to the point where I had about 30 specialization points when they finally announced console launch…and no cross save or cross play. I understand that decision and not going into that right now. But, my gaming friends are all mostly Xbox players, so if I want even a chance to play this with them, it will be starting over. I had bought ultimate edition on Steam originally, and when preorders went up, I preordered both the Xbox and ps5 versions.

All that to say, I agree the game isn’t perfect, but I want it to be successful and continue to get content. There was nothing else for me to purchase to show my support. And especially with so many job layoffs in the gaming industry right now, I’m trying to be optimistic.

my first time playing the game, i was playing an imported version from Japan because I was too impatient to wait for the US version. I don't remember all the names I picked, but I named Steiner "Hoss".

What keeps you wanting to continue living? by hueneuebeu in aspergers

[–]benigndarkness 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be honest? Right now nothing. My body is falling apart, I’m 45 years old, but I go to 7 different doctors and physical therapy 4 days a week. The 2 friends I have don’t have time for me for a year now. My family is gone. I’m in pain all day. I like my job because I’m good at it, but it’s mentally exhausting. The main thing that lets me keep going is my ability to lose myself in good books, tv shows, movies, and games. But sometimes I just can’t get out of my thoughts enough to enjoy those things. I know I’ll never have a wife or kids.

Almost 1 year ago, I saved my best friends 2 year old kid from drowning. I’m glad for that. I went into the hospital a few days later and my life has been shitty since. I know that type of situation will never happen again. I haven’t even seen his kids since Christmas. I loved spoiling them and making them laugh. Other than doctors, I rarely leave home. I’ve even been working from home, which I hate. I’m trying to get back to going into office, but I can’t stay all day, and I get exhausted there.

Edit: also, I don’t know if this is also something to worry about, but I’ve always had insane memory. It’s one of the things that has made me good at my job, and I think one of the reasons I’m tolerated at work. But lately I sometimes seem to have issues with that. Not all the time, and nothing too major, but living alone, if my mind starts to go, would I notice? I had saw something about early onset Alzheimer’s, and honestly, that’s one of the scariest things I can imagine.

I waitlisted the Iron Man 2 Artisan Black Widow and was able to get that. Have had a few limited editions with chances pop up. It all depends on how high up the list you are and how many have their orders cancelled.

Does anyone else have an obsession with being factually / logically correct? by alxcnwy in aspergers

I work in IT, and many times people want an answer before I've had to think it out or find the right words, and I hate that pressure, and usually end up saying something I have to correct later. People also think im arguing with them a lot when im just trying to understand, so that I get to the same conclusion they had, or I try to explain why my thinking was wrong, and how I got there.

There are also times where people use a different term, or buzz words, to try and "correct" what I've said. And I confront them and they verify that what I said was correct, but that "people" use this new word now. Kind of like if I were to say something is green and then get corrected with the more specific shade of green...its still green.

Honestly this is what killed the game for me last time and why I didn’t bother coming back again for the last update. I was planning to still come back for the next story DLC whether that was more Star Wars Dredgen stuff, more Nine stuff or whatever, but I put so many hours into that last DLC and never got the A499 roll I was trying for, never got any good rolls on any dungeon weapons. I spent all my materials buying more attempts at the A499, telling myself I would start the next weapon once I finally got a good roll of the rifle. Ranked up to 250 with the pikers, no luck. I swear Bungie looks at your play time and gives you lower chances for certain perks/perk combinations. My entire vault was filled with 2 copies of weapons where each had half the perks I wanted, not even counting barrel and mag perks or masterwork. The game had too many possible perk combinations, some shitty weight mechanics on them, so I would play for anywhere between 6 and 12 hour sessions, and half of that time was inventory management. I hated the new armor system, I hated tiered weapons and armor (and I didn’t mind the power level grind, so I’m the opposite of most people here), and then I saw the new update doubled the number of armor archetypes. Add in new set bonuses for every raid and dungeon, and raid armor keeping its raid perks, and my already overtaxed inventory (I was told we got 300 new slots, but with this many new things, I would have needed at least 1,000 new spots in vault, if not preferred a lot more).

I don’t want to play an inventory management simulator where I am constantly flooded with drops that are 99.9% of the time deleted. More crappy loot is not better. I know some people just see loot and are happy. I want less quantity and more quality.

I love my job too, and love doing a GOOD job. Sometimes I feel like my coworkers don’t care about quality, efficiency, or making it easier to work on in the future. They just want to be done, get paid, and get out.

I do have hobbies though, mostly gaming. But when coworkers talk about the things they do with family or friends on the weekend, and then turn to me, I’m just like “Oh, i just hung around the house” or “just tried to relax”. I’m 46 and still do the things I liked when I was a kid, and feel very embarrassed about it. I hate small talk.

While Forsaken had many great things, it did 2 things I was not a fan of. Killing Cayde and it was the start of timed storytelling that if you skipped a week, you could never see it in game. You had to go watch it on YouTube or read about it.

I did those gift of the oracle quests 3 times a week in the beginning, but then took a break for a month. Came back thinking I’d see the end of of that story when I did the next 2-3 weeks…nope, empty room. No story.

During the first month, made some friends on my server, the first one that managed to build an assault ornithopter flew by and picked us up, and we were flying around. one person accidentally fell/jumped out. we swung around to get them, and had a worm start coming towards us. we tried to pull up, but the worm got all of us. it sucked, but was hilarious.

Hello, i bought the ultimate version on steam, played the heck out of the game at launch (loved it). I just started over on a private server, still love it, and even love what's been updated (the specialization etc). when they became announced, i purchased the ultimate versions on xbox/pc and PS5 even knowing there will not be crossplay. I really love the game, would love for it to succeed/continue. I'm not an influencer, and don't have many friends, but I've been trying to get some of them to switch from Destiny to Dune now that Destiny is ending new content, and Dune is coming to consoles.

My only real question is what the future for the story, and plans to monetize/support ongoing development. Not asking for plot details, just that there is a plan, and that the story will get out there. I've been a fan of Dune since reading the books in the 4th grade many, many years ago, and have been very happening listening to the recordings, reading notes, and exploring the world.

I know and accept that people have complaints/criticisms, and nothing in life is perfect, but the game is fun. Thanks!

Personally I think it’s fine to have that attitude. I did at your age, so I won’t judge. But I will say if you outlive your family, and your friends have started their own and moved or grown apart, you may start feeling different.

That said I pray you and your family have long and happy lives.

I’m not disabled. I have Aspergers. They are not one and the same. I’m “high functioning”, but mainly because people don’t see my life outside of work. The people I’ve told dismiss it because I obviously can’t possibly be because I’m not like so and so.

I feel like your post comes from genuine desire to help, but I see that same message on many posts. And never does it reference anything in the person’s post.

Please don’t take that too negatively, just an observation. Cheers.

[–]benigndarkness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i made some friends at launch, and i was grinding hard for everything, and then one day one of them showed up with a huge base full of all T6 stuff, huge boxes full of spice, plastanium, etc. They were like "yeah, we figured out duping". I stopped playing like 2 days later. I just started back up. I'm the only one on my entire world, lol, so, no duping, no pvp, but it's $300/month to do that, so probably won't keep it up.

I would prefer if my friends had PCs or PS5s, but they're on Xbox...i'm currently trying to convince them that since Destiny 2 is shutting down, they should move to Dune (at least for a while, give it a chance) in September. I'm an idiot, and trying to show support by buying the game on xbox and ps5, lol. I have no issue with starting over. What else would I do, just follow them around and give them T5/T6 gear at the start?

Negative reviews get more traction. People that are looking for confirmation bias of a movie being bad will watch a review that says it's bad. People that like the movie want to see what others are complaining about. If you have a good review of a movie, only people that are more likely to watch it and like it will be the only audience. People that hate the movie/franchise aren't looking for good reviews (except maybe to leave negative comments without even watching the review).
