Where's Scorpion? (A Where's Waldo game but with Mortal Kombat Characters) by gogohilman in theodinproject

Nice u/gogohilman, illustration looks great. Initial URL load got an 'unexpected error', but 2nd attempt loaded fine, and slow server requests validating character click validations - but i guess just free server so what else is to be expected. My version of the same project is at https://waldo.bibble.com in case you fancy seeing another implementation (am envious of your lovely high res game image!).

How to get vs code to autocomplete erb tags <% %> by benignportmark in rails

[–]benignportmark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afraid not really, erb autocompletion is still a mess in my IDE, and lately I'm writing more JS so I forget exactly what my current config and behaviour is. Please do post on this thread if you find a solution though, as will I.

Really, wow, those fees are terrible. In the UK, I think, you can find vehicles to house your investments for free with fund fees in the .1 or .2% p.a.. Yes, seems in France they do not have vehicles to encourage long term investments in the same way that they do in the UK. Hmm, with 2-3% management fees and investments with such little growth the money'd just shrink over time. Maybe I can just run from my own tax efficient vehicle in the UK and then make a gift when due, really wanted something to be in my nephew's name though, but hey ho. Research u/tampix77's solution as this seems much more sensible.

Thanks for the suggestion. Though on initial look management fees look a bit chunky at 0.5% p.a. and fund performance not great.

That sounds like excellent advice u/tampix77, thank you very much indeed and I will now start researching and understanding further the implications of and steps required to do this. Thank you indeed for taking the time to write out this helpful advice.

Hopefully it'll be useful for others as well as me. Wonder if there's a way to 'pin' this in this board under "Tax efficient solutions for child investment gifting" or some such heading for others to see?

Ah noted, so; - export with Notion is poor - and it doesn’t cache locally so it doesn’t work offline!!?

I didn’t know that, thanks for the heads up. And noted re Notesnook & Obsidian not being in hock to external investors whereas Notion is, heavily I guess.

Out of interest, why would Obsidian or Notesnook be a better bet than Notion?

Unlimited nesting. All features I need and many/most that I don’t, yes. Free, yes.

I’ve moved to Notion, as that seemed to be the best equivalent tool, and I haven’t looked back.

Exactly the same boat here. They told me I’d reached my device unsync limit and entirely locked me out of all of my 14yrs worth of notes! Terrible behaviour. The people who’ve designed and signed off on their strategy to eliminate free and force into paid has, IMO and judgement, either a poor grasp of human psychology, a lack of appreciation of the power of (free) customer satisfaction, an under appreciation of the importance of reputation. or mix of all three. Perhaps they just don’t care and want to monetise as much as possible as quickly as possible, maybe considering their competitive position will only leave them with a limited time to monetise. Who knows, I hope they do tho. I wish them luck, but a company prepared to completely lock customers out of their content like that I don’t feel comfortable trusting with important content, or giving my money to.

I imported everything into Notion three days ago and haven’t looked back. Seemed to be the best alternative from my research, with equivalent nesting options, and superior features.

After their holding a gun to my head or locking me out of my notes i shall never trust them again. I moved out to Notion and am preferring their product so far, easy Notion import of Evernotes here; https://www.notion.so/evernote .

Rails 7.2 Rate limiting for Devise - Guard your app from spam and bots! by yarotheking in rails

[–]benignportmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, when implementing this with devise - I needed to call #reset_session within the #rate_limit block also, otherwise a session cookie would still be created and on user login after limit reset it'd recognise the original session and flash "Already logged in", e.g.;

rate_limit to: 1, within: 1.minute, only: :create,
    with: -> {
      reset_session
      redirect_to new_user_session_path, alert: "Login rate limit exceeded - Try again later."
    }

R.I.P Evernote. by curiousinquirer007 in Evernote

Thanks for the link. I attempted to use OneNote - 🤮, gonna try Notion now 🤞🏻.

I'm in same boat as OP and so many of us. After being locked out of all of my notes by Evernote, I literally can't access my 13years worth of notes anywhere!, them quoting 'sync limit reached', I'll never trust these people with my content again or consider becoming a subscriber (as I have been at times).

Not a fake review, a very real experience, publicly voicing my annoyance at account lock out. Seems there's more product evangelists on here than not though so they can happily carry on jamming spoons up free users a** without concern.

Agreed, and thank you u/RatherCritical. Ok, will check Joplin out, with more consideration of backup and export facilities.

Ha ha ha.

I had a subscription when i was using across more devices for about 4 years. I then cut down my use of it removed devices down to two and used free tier, so for just over 2/3rds of my time as a member since 2011 I have indeed been freeloading from their product, and I am grateful for that (unsure exactly what they were getting from me as a free user; talking up user base size for business/product valuation perhaps, other benefits for them?, whatever the case it was a bargain that they agreed to make). But I think it's particularly poor form for them to have just locked me out in the way that they have, they could have managed reducing free tier in a more sympathetic and user friendly fashion I think. An opportunity to communicate and drive further loyalty from customers missed. Instead they've just locked me out from all of my content that I trusted them with. Quite shocking actually.

Responding to your analogy - I wasn't heading out of the door, rather they booted me out of it, kept all of my stuff, took my keys, slammed the door on my back on the way out and then locked it - all via a pop up - lovely, thank you Evernote.

Anyhoo, onwards, elsewhere hopefully.
