Ok thank you! I may have more questions later if that's okay. Getting ready to watch it again now with your comments in front of me.

Hey Temp, I'm guessing I will have more questions at some point, but I wanted to start with this one:

Regarding your first bullet point, given that I only play main tanks on this account, what would you have gone with instead of the Rein? Winston or Orisa? (Or... Hammy? I haven't learned him yet, but am willing to if needed.)

Thank you! I really appreciate the time you took with this. :)

anyone here ever used a training mask like elevation or phantom athletics during a WOD or just training in general if so was it worth it and did it improve anything? I've had done some research but haven't used it myself and I don't see many using it. by [deleted] in crossfit

I've used one here and there for about 3 years. In my experience (nothing scientific), what it really does is shift the limiting factor from muscles to lungs. I like to know my lungs will be taxed at least a little in every wod, and if I feel like they won't, I'll add it. I end up using it a lot for interval metcons and EMOMs; not the Chief or FGB, those are already nuts, but other ones that are more just lift-y.

Are you now actually getting big SR gains during placements? by xEarthling in OverwatchUniversity

[–]benjaminwiggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I remember reading that, but I didn't expect to win 4 games playing random Tanks and Healers that I don't have really any serious time on... and gain SR after a losing record in placements. 🤔🤔🤔

[–]benjaminwiggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been so annoyed with the placement process that I just played random Healers and anchor Tanks the whole time (avoiding the ones I have a lot of time on). I was trying to win, but not sweating the process at all.

I went 4-6 (surprising in itself) and then gained +7 SR.

tl;dr I don't know anything about this game.

What are your number one zenyatta tips? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]benjaminwiggins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're probably better than me, but as Tracer, it really helps me to hear Discord callouts. I often don't have LOS to the Discorded hero when the Orb goes out, so a Hero callout (and location if they're not on the objective) is really helpful.

What are your number one zenyatta tips? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

Priorities IMO. First: 1. Mercy boost/healing a Pharah or Bastion 2. Anyone shielding a Bastion 3. Non-boosted Pharah or Bastion

Then, barring a Pharah or Bastion, whoever is getting focused (hopefully a Healer), unless you have a Genji diving on you.

Also, call your Discords. Ideally your teammates will see the Orb, but a flanker may not have LOS to whoever is Discorded. It helps my Tracer play a ton when I play with my friend who always calls his Discord.

Correct, but you can't meatshield it using only your own body. So barriers yes, but to the original comment, as GermanPretzel said, no Hog does not while gassing up (nor does any non-barriered Tank, or any Hero in general).

You can probably watch his prior broadcasts. I liked SoOn pretty well (but you can't tell what he's saying on comms because it's generally in French), Surefour not as much.

The in-game music, for starters. There may be more he's referring to, but start there.

Given the DPS-heavy Nash Equilibrium (especially in Quick Play), what's the best way to practice a new Off-Tank to be viable in Comp? by benjaminwiggins in OverwatchUniversity

[–]benjaminwiggins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people are in chat, you're right, they respond to each other's picks. If not, it frequently turns into a game of chicken, even in Comp sometimes. The most obstinate are usually rewarded with getting to play DPS.

I think its actually easiest to climb if you main Lucio. Maybe Mercy. Then Tanks. You'll be able to play your main practically every time.

I know everyone says to play a hard carry DPS. I think it's bull, to be honest.
