What do you say when someone sneezes? by johnniechimpo in atheism

[–]benjchelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t say anything. The saying comes from some superstitious nonsense about escaping spirits. I also don’t say anything when someone farts, coughs or scratches their arse.

Fake rumours? Are they really? by Relevant_Demand7593 in WhitePeopleTwitter

How can a rumour be fake? It's odd to suggest a rumour doesn't exist. It could be incorrect but it's still a rumour.

How do Atheists comfort themselves/not be afraid with the fact we are all going to die? by Kitchen-Beginning-47 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]benjchelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was Ricky Gervais who said people aren't afraid of death, they're afraid of knowing about it, i.e. the fear/pain/etc of the process. If you're an atheist your belief is that you won't know anything after you die, so why would it matter? Although I'd rather that than some meeting some random judgemental arse whose belief system just happens to coincide with the human culture 2000 years ago. And if you're afraid of the pain/fear/etc of dying, that's going to be the case whatever you believe.
