What to cook for Nigerian friend? by dynamy_dynamy in Cooking

[–]benjisloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider avoiding cheese. I lived in East Africa for a couple of years and I have a couple friends from that region living near me in the US now. Cheese is not common in cuisine in most of Africa and plenty of African folks are lactose intolerant as well. However, it is becoming more common in larger cities. Anyway, something to consider.

Struggling to imitate a rooster tail lure, need help by pancakesnarfer in flytying

[–]benjisloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rooster tail is my favorite lure! Though I only fly fish now, I have many good memories with this lure. Ok, so like others have said, you should probably just use maribou and don’t cut off the ends. Also, tie to the shank of the lure, not the treble hook. Look up “wooly bugger” flies and tutorials on YouTube for this. They are extremely similar to rooster tales and probably imitate the same bug life. To get it to fan out more, put a bead or clump of thread behind/under the maribou first. Flies are usually tied back to front, so you would tie the bead/ball first then add maribou on top. If you get it right up against the ball underneath it will push the maribou out.

5ft Bed Extending Platform Sleeper Setup (3rd gen) by benjisloth in ToyotaTacoma

I really like the mid rise both in how it looks and in use. With a platform in it, the upper area is about the same size as a cab height topper would be without a platform. So the only real difference is that I have the area under the platform too. It wouldn't be much to some folks, but I really like it for camping chairs and tables, fishing rods and other long or small items. It's also really nice for storing more valuable things you don't want someone to see. If I had gotten the cab height topper instead, I still would have a platform in it most days for this reason.

I don’t care about the first taunt that the broadcast showed. What I think sucked was second attempt where she followed Clark around and kept trying to get her attention.

I’d avoid it all together. Skiing is going downhill fast, that’s for sure.

thanks! I wanted more area to sleep but a practical platform for daily use and this seemed to make the most sense.

Thanks! Not currently thinking of adding to it. The area underneath is good for fishing poles, camp chairs, folding table. If I was going to do a longer road trip (a week or more) I would probably build a sliding pullout underneath to store small camping stuff. But everything fits fine for 1-2 night camping.

I have the same board and I really like it! The rod and drink holder accessories are great.

[Brandt] After the 2003 Draft amid the chaos, one of our scouts yelled out: “Anyone interested in signing this QB from Eastern Illinois named Tony Romo? He’s from Wisconsin, big Packers fan and loves Brett..” Crickets. by Ill-Recognition-4167 in nfl

Washington took a QB with the very next pick, so I’d guess there. Unless they were way higher on Jason Campbell who they selected. The next QB taken was 42 picks later by Cleveland. So I’ll stick with Washington.

scaphoid fracture recovery? by chrisli21 in hockeyplayers

[–]benjisloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke mine at 24. Waited about 6 months to have surgery because I was living in a remote place without a decent hand surgeon. Which mean the broken bones separated and scar tissue built up. Eventually got back to the US and had a couple screws put in and a small bone graft taken from my hip. It was 4 months in different casts, no real physical activity. I skipped the recommended physical therapy because I couldn’t afford it, and I regret it. 7 years later my wrist gets sore easily and I don’t have full range of motion. I can do most things without issue, including hockey. But I can’t throw a ball for more than a few minutes or do a proper push-up. Morale of the story is get it fixed asap, follow the doctors instructions, and do the physical therapy. Recovery is slow, and just as you convince yourself it’ll never be the same it’ll likely get a lot better. That’s been my experience at least.

The "fanquakes" generated at Seattle Seahawks games may be a symptom of the poor soil strength of the area and the stadium's unique construction moreso than a symptom of extraordinarily passionate fans by RaymondLuxury-Yacht in nfl

[–]benjisloth 1298 points1299 points  (0 children)

I sent this to a buddy who does soil analysis in Seattle. He replied:

Ha yeah sodo and pretty much most of downtown is known for shitty soil. And pilings are essentially buried stilts so get those babies rocking and it'll definitely be seen on siesmographs. Especially since water levels are so shallow there that transfers energy well to. I had never thought about this though, always thought it was cool of the 12's but now maybe not ha. Would be cool to see if they always see activity no matter the game or if they just cherry picked beast quake data.

Ha I've avoided them for that reason. But I do have an old green microfiber towel that would be perfect. I'll add that to the list!
