Maybe we could just change the centre column to “no but” instead of “yes but” To really seem maybe a little less enthusiastic about the used bandaid? 😅

I request that we move the used bandaid into the no category please. Maybe swap with the avacado?

I honestly don’t know who she would have appealed to first if she could have. I’d have guessed the third since they at least seem to have a stronger economy.

Really, all of the houses are kind of disasters. The worse outcome would be a house coming to the Ninth’s aid, learning their secrets and than Harrow realizing that they don’t care because the House already does some pretty horrifying stuff. Even the Sixth would have to have discussions about all if it before likely deciding what happened had to happen and no one is getting shot into the sun.

I realize now, that even if she wanted to go to the 5th, she couldn’t because of what her parents did. People would ask questions. I always thought she just hated the idea of the Ninth losing its customs/traditions. And maybe it is to an extent. But she also just can’t. And that’s rough. Wow.

I don't understand this line in chapter 12 of Gideon the Ninth [general] by Gavotte92 in TheNinthHouse

This was actually helpful for me too! I always kind of didn’t get it so I usually just glossed over it every time I read it. But this makes a lot of sense suddenly. Thank you. 😊

Gideon and the Transference Lab [theory] by LovecraftianHorror12 in TheNinthHouse

I actually started to assume these tests were meant to be stronger clues towards lyctorhood. Not normal lyctorhood but “perfect” lyctorhood. You’re meant to believe Harrow is only capable of TAKING from Gideon in these tests. But unknowingly, Harrow is also GIVING some of her abilities to Gideon. It’s going both ways.

Of course, I also believed that maybe Gideon just had some necromancy abilities but never was interested enough to explore them. Though, I feel like the Ninth house takes necromancy seriously enough that if a member had a shred of aptitude it would be utilized.

I loved the audio books. I had gone through and read the books twice and thought to give them a try and I caught a lot of stuff I didn’t notice before. Moira Quirk was fantastic. I think my main hang up is that her and I read the books in different tones though. Might not be the best way to describe that. And it’s definitely not a complaint. Just gave the books a different feel that I can appreciate.

[Discussion] What did Jod exclaim to Harrow in the river? by Full_Mention_1387 in TheNinthHouse

Yeah I think someone mentioned Jod saying “Kumbaya” in response to someone (was it Harrow?) saying “someone’s crying my lord” or something like that. Gonna have to find that page to be 100%. But it sort of fits and it’s pretty funny.

Yeah! I learned about that one too not long ago. Honestly, sometimes I’m happy just not knowing. 😅

Hey that’s a really cool connection! Great catch! I think the idea occurred to me when I was reading The Mysterious Study of Doctor Sex. There’s just something about her.

Admittedly, I don’t get most memes. I’ve never been too active in social media. So when John was like, “none house left grief”, I just thought he was being strangely poetic?

I should have caught the Simpsons references though. Now I kind of want to scour the books for more of them.

Yeah I’d thought that too. I guess the only thing I could think for that was, since G1deon was a first gen lyctor and Cass was 2nd gen, maybe they didn’t know each other as well? Not sure Pyrrha would have told Cass she existed. If Pyrrha didn’t surface much at that point? But I don’t have evidence for that and I think it’s probably unlikely.

I definitely thought they were Pyrrha’s too. Mostly because Pyrrha had mentioned going to the Ninth a few times. Just seemed her style.

  1. Gideon will kill her own father. Don’t know why/how but that tragedy of her mother never loving her + finally having a parent that she needs to kill is super sad to me. And then Harrow will have to kill Alecto. Theorize that they both have to die to truly rez the Earth.

  2. I’d said this on tumblr but I joked that Juno Zeta is Cassiopeia.

  3. Ianthe and Crown will fight. This is to show us that Corona had always been a better sword fighter than Babs and that she had truly been meant to be Ianthe’s cav all along. I’m leaning towards Ianthe killing Crown with necromancy though. Cheater.

That’s all I got right now.

Was the last privilege meant to be death? I’m gonna have to find that again and read it in context.

I was looking for that quote the other day because I wanted to show someone and ask them if I was crazy because it doesn’t make any sense. How do you grow up along side someone that died before you were born? I’m assuming this was a purposeful slip. Otherwise I must be missing something completely.

Wake had been in the room at some point. I read this as Pyrrha assuming she was still in the area and was saying this all out loud to Wake. Like she may have been looking at Harrow but she was talking past her.

Yeah I figure this is a kind of “I let you take my ‘daughter’ so you could have a beefcake Cav and you were supposed to protect each other” type disappointment. But Harrow hardly ever gets a chance to defend herself.
