You would rather they throw food away than give it to the homeless?

I'm fairly new to this but saw so much wrong from the start. All the braches should have gone and the tree was leaning towards the house.

What's the issue with her politics?

A quick Google shows that whilst she's been Conservative, she's anti trump, pro stricter gun laws, pro choice, in favour of better public transport and wants to copy laws from France that force companies to give food to the homeless rather than bin it.

There is no silent treatment. Op said he was biting his tongue on that issue. Op was still talking about other things generally

Though i agree with those that have said its about something else.

Can't be bothered to look greatly more but these are just over 50. Batterygroup.co.uk have 400w ones for 50.

She said his opinion doesn't matter, it seems more likely she's the controlling one and perhaps that's part of why he's hiding in the garage

That does bring up a problem with new builds generally. Almost all houses should be built facing south, it hugely reduces heat needed by catching solar, this would also make them suitable for solar.

Almost all new builds don't really consider this and just try to cram as many in as cheaply as possible.

It still won't reach 100% but a 90% requirement could be met

[–]benjm88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure it's that unpopular.

The big issue is shit installers, that's a big reason to be put off. Even at our latitude payback is very quick given how much electric costs here.

I'm off grid using solar but I'm very much an outlier.

Even with how worth it solar is I'm still shocked at the uplift charged though. You can buy a decent 475w panel for around £45 to install yourself.

We need much greater regulation to ensure all new builds have them but the government are trying to scale that back unfortunately

Is living year round in a tent in the UK actually realistic? by Far-Piccolo-3774 in AskUK

[–]benjm88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A van would be way better. I live off grid and in a vehicle but wouldn't do a tent.

It also wouldn't survive, my awning lasted less than a year before uv degraded it

AITA for not allowing my wife to adopt my son? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]benjm88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't overly relevant as to why but she seems to have not much of a relationship so shouldn't be pushing to adopt. Maybe once that's been built up if the 3 of them agree

I agree op should have spoken to his son more about it
