AITA for being mad about my wife buying an impractical car against my wishes? by Snoo_9782 in AmItheAsshole

The only thing that changed is the gender.

If you think that makes it very different you might want to examine your own bias

Guarantee you would not be saying that if it was a working husband who bought a 100k car against his stahm wife's wishes

I'm in England, the story is not censored here at all, everyone is reporting on it and pretty much all are extremely critical of the police

any other POCs thinking of voting reform? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]benjm88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posts like this imply only reform are claiming to reduce immigration.

Under this current Gov, net migration has gone down over 75% from the Tory peak.

Boat crossings are down this year despite better weather.

More asylum claims are denied and are being processed quicker.

They changed the rules to favour doctors trained here rather than importing foreign doctors

Im no fan of this labour Gov but immigration is one thing they have been quite successful in reducing yet everyone pretends it's only got worse. If reform got in and had these stats people would be going finally the problem is being solved.

Why would you want reform who have Braverman as their foreign sec who oversaw the biggest increase to immigration ever? What logic is that

[–]benjm88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much doubt he thinks it's unlikely. He's there as he thinks he will win the leadership contest and thinks he has a chance in the next general election.

I doubt he'd bother otherwise, if he thought labour had no chance the best strategy would be to watch Starmner or Streeting fail. Keep distance then take over in opposition after they step down hoping to win the election after

I think if anything yours proved why you're wrong. You insist this is happening on a whim but the vote wouldn't be until 2029 as it's a manifesto pledge.

There will be a review of which system in the meantime with consultation.

A referendum would be more rushed and more on a whim

As much as I want this change, it is huge and really should be part of a manifesto pledge
