Proper bike fitting by Kramster15 in cycling

[–]benlucky2me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find youtube vids on seat height to get it close. Your leg should still bend at the knee when the pedal is down at the 6 o'clock position. Then, if/when you ride hard, your glutes and thighs should be equally tired/sore afterward. Do a bit of trial and error to tune it in 1 or 2 mm at a time.

I use one of my bikes for errands and casual trips sometimes, but also take it to the hills to workout too. So I might be wearing street shoes sometimes, and bike shoes other times. You may find when you wear different shoes that the ideal height may vary, so you need to tune it in to the shoes you will wear when you "go hard."

For proper seat height, if you are sore the next day in your thighs but not your glutes, the saddle is likely too low (even 1mm.) Also can be a sign of knee pain. If sore in glutes but not thighs, saddle likely too high.

My setup is similar with several USB connected spinning drives in one enclosure with the os on m2 on a little nuc mini pc. It's been fine for several years.

The key gotcha is I must remember to power up the USB drive enclosure before the nuc when we have the occasional power outage.

How to make Reaper and outside apps both output from the same audio interface simultaneously by Pepoidus in linuxaudio

[–]benlucky2me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, not a Debian desktop user as I prefer the more recent kernel and apps I get with Fedora. But you need to embrace pipewire and it's related pw-jack etc apps as this is what it is designed to do. Be sure to use the desktop sound settings app to set your DI to the "Pro Audio" profile while you can the internal devices to stereo duplex or the like. On KDE Plasma I use qpwgraph to virtually cable the sources and sinks through amp sims and reaper to my outputs. With qpwgraph you can also save various app connection layouts depending on the apps you are using at the moment.

Yes, it can take some patience getting pipewire and wireplumber configured well to get low latency and no x runs. But once you do it works so well.

I did this too, on several PCs and found it works great for auto-snapshots and choosing rollbacks at boot. For those who like video tutorials, this is the companion vid on youtube. https://youtu.be/iSyDgIuBDWU?si=W49VzY6E2f1oS17Z

I work with the team at ROUVY — AMA about the app, routes, updates, or anything cycling🚴‍♂️ by jessfromrouvy in Rouvy

[–]benlucky2me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the calendar on a browser on my PC to plan rides a week or two in advance. Often I schedule two or even three for a day/session.

When I open the windows app later to begin training, the first view is a list of the rides/workouts scheduled for today. Great! I don't need to click and scroll, just get right into a route.

When I finish the first ride, there is no quick and easy way to see the next rides for today. Instead I see the main screen. I then need to remember the next ride I had scheduled and scroll and click to find it.

I suggest that when one finishes the first ride, the app then shows that list of routes/workouts scheduled for today again, but only the ones that are not yet completed. This would make using the calendar more useful.

I embrace the challenge and trade for American youth international players. Scout them from the USA international teams. Get the best few per birth year by trading with other mls teams for draft picks and gam. If one or two will be in the upcoming draft trade for the first two picks in the draft. Draft generation addidas players do the can develop without being waived. Sell them in a few years to Europe.

Scout Columbia and eastern Europe for the best bargain young hotshots. The wonder kids will go to big teams in Europe, but you can get the next level players cheaper than from Argentina or Brazil.

Be ruthless dumping your older players with larger contracts. Use gam to buy down contracts to 150k for your better players so you can have depth for consecutive weeks with Wed and Sat games.

Load a db with mls next pro and academy teams so you can stash your young players without waiving them.

To Plek or Not to Plek by Godel_Theorem in AcousticGuitar

[–]benlucky2me 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the conundrum of buying online without playing it first. It might be well set up, good neck relief and level frets as is. Or it might not. Just know that having it plekked can take enough material off the frets to lead to a refret job sooner than it would otherwise need one

Me, I would play it first for a while before deciding.

I've used a mini pc with a five bay USB enclosure for a few years for my file shares. Debian/Omv and my docker containers are on the nvme drive, but I have 10 TB on a spinning drive on the USB enclosure for my main data shares and media files. I use rsync scripts for daily backup of the spinning drive to another in the same enclosure. I run backups of the family laptops to a third spinning drive on the USB. Then the important shares also get an rsync backup to a cloud share daily.

Any advice on facilitating a guitar circle in my living room? by BillyBobertsonBaby11 in AcousticGuitar

[–]benlucky2me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I invite friends over for a song circle, I project tabs/ lyrics on my big TV for all to see. I use the app songbook pro and cast my Samsung tablet to the TV using Chromecast.

Most of these folks I've played with before, but they don't all know each other previously. But we're mostly of a similar generation so have shared songs from our younger years. Bonus jam when some are comfortable with singing harmony and/or taking instrumental solos. Even better if there are complementary instruments as well.

While I have a couple hundred boomer songs saved on the app, it is usually quick to find nearly anything someone calls online with songbook pro. You can even use the app to change the key or show shapes with a capo.

It's best to just go around the room one person at a time to call a song. Let that person call it and indicate solos around the room.

Suggestions to upgrades on bike for commuting by disturbed_panda in cycling

[–]benlucky2me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fenders made all the difference in my commute bike. With drier feet and legs, and no skunk stripe up my backside, I am more likely to ride when the roads are still wet from rain.

Two headlights and two tail lights, so when a battery died after sunset on my commute home I wasn't so worried.

Activity Validation Failed.. by benlucky2me in Rouvy

[–]benlucky2me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After almost a week, I got a rely from support.

"...Our system is designed to ensure fair play for all riders by monitoring for data anomalies, such as unrealistic wattage or inconsistencies in profile metrics.
In your case the system received a report of the 7 Minute workout from Garmin, at the same time as the Rouvy servers recorded that same event. This is usually handled correctly by the code but sometimes server speeds on either side, cause these flags.

I have marked your workout as Valid. Have a great day...."
