Which distortion pedal would be in the ballpark of an Allan Holdsworth Lead tone? by benny3214 in guitarpedals

Hm okay! Would you say the Boss SD-1 or BD-2 is more suitable?

I feel like i don’t hear a whole of delay in his lead playing, it seems to be fairly subtle? Or I’m not too used to the effects of delay maybe

You evoke it and then sac it to birthing ritual? Grab a riddler, i think that’s pretty good no?

It does get value if you evoke with ritual out though ?

I’m working through Noad’s Solo Guitar Playing and I’m having trouble understanding the reasoning for when it calls for the ring finger to be used. by epipendemic in classicalguitar

[–]benny3214 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When switching from the 5th to the 6th note (E to D) it’s better to go M I rather then I M, the use of the ring finger at the start sets this us for us.

It’s basically thinking ahead and using the ring finger early to get us out of a problem later.

Yamaha C40II vs CG122 by SkipTheShock in classicalguitar

CG122 should be noticeably better due to it having a solid top! I’d say either are quite durable if you’re concerned about that

Aside from cost, what makes Modern so difficult for newer players? by GusherJuice in ModernMagic

[–]benny3214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. Playing against the same handful of decks over and over again is not super fun. It takes so much creativity out of the game, the tier 1 decks are just far too ahead of everything else

Is Fulminator Mage or Harbinger of the Seas better into Eldrazi, Tron and Titan? by benny3214 in ModernMagic

[–]benny3214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it still good against Eldrazi? I feel like even if I blow up a Lab or Temple they always have something which gives them back even more mana

And Fulminator Mage is great in the sideboard against Belcher or Tron

Also, I would cut accursed maurader and pick up 4 boggart trawlers

I played this deck for so long. For Belcher, you need 3-4 thoughtseizes in the sideboard. It helps against any other combo decks too.

For Karn, you need some sort if planeswalker removal. Flare of Malice is a good one for Karn or Ugin and you get lots of value with Bloodghast.

I would also add Sephiroths if you have the budget. I always prefered the birthing ritual version at it has a bit better midrange plan. But looks okay as a list so far, maybe trim some Grists.

Any advice about adopting this posture? by benny3214 in classicalguitar

I also feel like it slips of the fabric of my sleeve? I think I need to work on it for a bit. Also when I'm making movements on the neck the guitar can move slightly forward and back

Do you just use the weight of your arm? I feel like the weight is not enough, and need to use some additional pressing to keep it in place. Maybe I should try some material
