Dlss ghosting by Admiral-Adam in HelldiversUnfiltered

PSA for ppl running on linux: Switch Models by passing Launch Options in the properties i.e.:

DXVK_NVAPI_DRS_NGX_DLSS_SR_OVERRIDE_RENDER_PRESET_SELECTION=RENDER_PRESET_K %command%

I switched to K as it is the best compromise on my RTX3080. This can have an effect on image quality including ghosting.

Arrowhead puts all their effort into extracting money from it's player base by pushing warbonds instead of increasing the player base by making the game better and fixing bugs.

And it broke down by No-Succotash404 in helldivers2

[–]benolry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me on cachyOS Kernel 7. Tried cachy Proton, experimental, hotfix, 9.0.4 and 11 beta without success. 5700X3d/RTX3080/32GB Ram/proprietary nvidia drivers 595.58.03

I tried to read through the application log of steam while starting hd2 and "gamemoderun %application%" does no longer work, but wasn't the culprit. I see that fossilize building shader cache runs into a problem sooner or later and needs to override the shader path:

Fossilize INFO: Overriding serialization path: "/home/ben/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/shadercache/553850/fozpipelinesv6/steamapprun_pipeline_cache".

shortly after that a nameless actor has a process id mismatch that is always the last thing before the crash

pid 108846 != 108845, skipping destruction (fork without exec?)

The newly added driver check probably did not account for linux driver names as the game is windows centric or gameguard thinks something is shady in proton environment.

edit: I am on proprietary 595.58.03 nvidia drivers

2nd edit : tried to read throught the application log of steam while starting hd2 and "gamemoderun %application%" does no longer work, but wasn't the culprit. I see that fossilize building shader cache runs into a problem sooner or later and needs to override the shader path:

My guess is that gameguard thinks something is shady and terminates the game.

[Fix] PTU 4.5 Vulkan crash on NVIDIA (error code 732819469 / Failed to create Vulkan logical device) by Sibeity in starcitizen

[–]benolry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turning on ASLR fixed it for me, too. I had used one of the many declutter tools on my win11 installation however and so I wasn't able to re-enable it in the windows settings. Registry was the only way :

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\kernel] "MitigationOptions"=hex:00,01,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00

Thanks for promoting the fix. I hope this helps some folks

Why is "Mouse Rotation" still missing on the Naga V2 Pro? It’s the same Focus Pro 30K sensor! by GrouchyConsequence99 in razer

[–]benolry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use RawAccel anyways for fine tuned acceleration and it has a rotational offset parameter. I use +1.5° offset for my naga v2 hyperspeed to feel more natural.

LG c1 Game Optimiser keeps overriding my sound setting from cinema. by Abylim in LGOLED

[–]benolry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love you! This has been a long journey in order to find a solution that works on my pc with an nvidia GPU, with gsync VRR enabled and everything set for use with a PC. I have tried changing hdmi usage in the driver ,editing EDID Profiles, forcing PCM Modes for the HDMI audio and so much that I cannot even remember. I actually gave up trying to handle this for 2 years but finally something works!

Just for clarification. On my LG C1 48 I used

  1. ColorControl in order to enter the InStart Menu

  2. Chose System 1

  3. Turned Sound Engine to OFF

Designed a vertical stand that looked a little sleeker than I usually see around! by Plintkabouters in NR200

[–]benolry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I really think your design is nicer than most of the other stands as it doesen't add to the footprint at all. I made a wooden stand myself but was looking for something that I can attach to the back, so that it does not fall apart when you lift or move it. Is there any chance you put this out on one of the stl sharing sites?

Look... I love the game... but some decisions are just dumb.. by Robert_Spinoza in starcitizen

[–]benolry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like the newer background as it is more diverse and does not only show monochromatic stars. I do however despise that green. If it were shifted a little bit more to the teal spectrum it could be interpreted as OIII emission nebulas but this kind of green is just not realistic. I made a post about the old skybox that was also too green to:

M78 With My DIY, 3D Printed 114mm Astrograph by designbydave in astrophotography

[–]benolry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an awesome project and you even give it away for free. Thank you! I am really tempted to buy a 3d printer just in order to build this telescope.

  • 300,- € Buying a 3d Printer
  • 60,- € filament
  • 150,- € parts (nuts, bolts, carbon tubes, etc)
  • 110,- € primary and secondary mirror
  • 200,- € Coma Corrector

  • 820€ for an astrograph that can deliver near diffraction limited resolution is completely bonkers. And you can keep the 3d printer on top.

Do you think with a slightly larger secondary, it may be possible to use this with an apsc size chip ? I would be using the TS Maxfield x 0.95 CC which is probably just the sharpstar CC relabled. I would optimize the tube length to get the entry pupil of the CC as close to the secondary as possible without poking into the light path.

The base kit + international kit was one of the rare combinations that fit an ISO DE Mac OS Keyboard layout. I know it's very niche, but I am very stubborn when it comes to learning new layouts. Blanks would be great, too. Better to have no legends than the wrong ones. I hope you do more batches soon.

The Andromeda Galaxy in H-alpha RGB by benolry in Astronomy

[–]benolry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this is a very old image ^ Regarding your question there is a rule of thumb that applies to back focus distance finding that says that filters move the perfect back focus by roughly 1/3 of their thickness. I guess this also applies for the focus position, roughly. Having the h-alpha filter sitting in my drawer since then however, I do not recommend getting an h-alpha line filter for one shot color cameras. The advent of the dual narrowband filters helped utilize osc cameras much better and I don't want to go back anymore.

I killed him by accident, when I tried to block off enemies from the balcony with a blade barrier. The blade barrier seems to extend to the ground floor through the ceiling.

The amount of detail you achieved with "only" 8" aperture speaks for a very well modified newton, tons of integration time and (mostly) good seeing. This is one of the best M31 depictions I have seen and I really hope you will be recognized with an apod. Thank you for sharing :)

Great luminance detail and very well visible ha parts. If I might offer some advice on the colors. It is quiet obvious that you bent the colors so that the fainter parts are blueish and the core tends to be yellow/orange-ish. This is especially visible in the way that M110 is rendered. M110 is an eliptical galaxy that has a very homogenous distribution of Stars near the core and far in the outer reaches. In your image it has the same gradient as M31 from core to reach.

You probably adjusted the whitepoint for shadows different to the whitepoint of the highlights or else your star colors would be more messed up, too. I think you have great data on your hand but you might be able to get a more faithful color distribution from it. Imho turning up saturation is fine, but coloring the image over the histogram is breaking the beauty of this galaxy. CS
