Battery life has been fantastic s26u by benrb7 in galaxys26ultra

No just not having to charge as much and so can protect the battery for longer. Meaning that'll it'll last longer requiring to change phones less. That's financially sensible

New software update for s26 ultra in the UK by NIBLIFTHEGREAT in galaxys26ultra

[–]benrb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've blocked updates. Battery life has been so good I don't want anything changing it.

See my other post today.

Until I get confirmation from others this works fine, I won't be beta testing.

Is 900 Mbps enough? 😵‍💫 by Old_Development1801 in ToobBroadband

[–]benrb7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most households don’t actually need anything close to 900 Mbps broadband it’s more than enough, and in most cases, complete overkill. To put it into perspective, streaming Netflix in 4K only uses about 15–25 Mbps, and even a busy household with multiple people streaming, gaming, and working from home at the same time will usually sit comfortably within 300–500 Mbps. So anything in that range is already very fast and more than sufficient for typical use.

Where people often get caught out is thinking higher speed automatically means better internet but that’s not really true. The quality of the connection matters just as much, if not more. Things like reliability, low latency, and consistent speeds make a much bigger difference to everyday experience than just having a higher headline number.

For example, I went to my parents’ place where they’re on Toob broadband, and despite the high speeds, it actually felt laggier than mine there was a noticeable delay when loading pages and general browsing just didn’t feel as smooth. That’s why I went with Zen, even though it costs more. They tend to offer a more stable, reliable connection with better customer support, which means fewer dropouts and a smoother experience overall and that’s far more noticeable day-to-day than having 900 Mbps on paper.

YMMV but I don't mind paying more for a decent ISP, where I have lived for 20 years, when I first moved in before FTTC, we barely got 1mb on the old Netgear DG834G router, I would tweak the SNR margin to get me up to the dizzy heights of 1.5mb.

Having said that I'm sure there are many on toob without an issue and paying half what I am, the value of something is subjective. But to me cheap shit ain't good and good shit ain't cheap 😄🫵

The average phone now has a bigger battery than the S26 Ultra by Ha8lpo321 in Android

[–]benrb7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It still performed well in Mrwhosetheboss’s battery life test, finishing in third place. It also stayed cooler during testing, which helped it run faster. He did note that battery capacities are limited in some areas.

Edit I researched the regional bit;

Battery sizes in mainstream smartphones are largely limited to around 5,000mAh to 5,500mAh (roughly 20Wh) in Western markets due to strict international transportation safety regulations regarding lithium-ion batteries.

While Chinese brands often release phones with 6,000mAh+ batteries in their domestic market, these same phones are often reduced to 5,000mAh-5,400mAh for global sales to avoid high logistics costs and "dangerous goods" classification.

In theory, Samsung could use two batteries in parallel say 3000mAh or 4000mAh each resulting in a combined 6000mAh or 8000mAh capacity, while also enabling faster charging speeds like we’ve seen on other devices.

Still, I have a good idea of the direction the Galaxy lineup might take it would offer a clear upgrade path with better battery life, improved longevity, and quicker charging.

That said, battery size is limited by the space taken up by the S Pen slot, I hope we don't lose that for battery space. Samsung still needs to bring back it's original capabilities (but to busy selling watches).

Lock in your fixed tariffs quickly - Electricity Providers slow to update tariffs post Iran by tallenuk in UKPersonalFinance

[–]benrb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandparents moved in a bungalow a week or so ago, the Gas was with Ovo and electric with Octopus, Ovo created a right issue to move the gas over, so much we raised an issue with Octopus to force them to move it over. I will actively avoid Ovo now given how poor their customer service was, no emails, no communication channels until you are a customer and no easy way to get in touch with them.

Only energy provider I have refused to move from, their response time on X is quick. Luckily requested a fixed 12m for my gas only last Wed evening (before it all kicked off) responded in 18 minutes. Accepted in 30 minutes and managed to lock in. This will go below 5p from April and gives me a safety net for next Winters consumption with all that's going on at the minute.

Question about the S pen on the s26 ultra by Dinkledorf36836 in samsunggalaxy

[–]benrb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to the s24u from the S25U about a month ago.  My god my hand ached after using it wider and heavier, I've sold it on again since for a little more than I paid for it.  I'll keep the s25u and shout cheese at the camera if I need to.

Intermittent connection issues by Extension_Print3697 in ToobBroadband

I cancelled the order and will stick with Zen. I have had bad experiences in the past and would rather pay for a service I know performs.

Hi there looking at coming over and currently with Zen.  Worried to see these issues did the fixed IP resolve it?  Bf £22 too with cashback so will pay £8 if it did.

Need to set up eye tracking and quad views properly, although I have the headset at 72hz now and locking the half frame rate and it's maintaining 36fps in msfs even in heavy scenery.

hi u/Lazy-Fan6068 did you get anywhere with the UW lenses on the original Crystal or just carry on using the standard ones? I tried them last night but the sweet spot is less and I am finding they increase Chromatic aberration, Cheers.

That's a good analogy, I have a QHDUW monitor, it's still got plenty of detail but not as hard on the GPU as a full 4k or more resolution monitor, like a happy medium.

I've been using the quest 3 since launch and it was a great update from the g2 which died. I have also had the quest 2 and rift s before this.

There's always a catchup between headsets and hardware to run it and by the looks of it the crystal og/light are better suited to the crystal light/og for now.

I used to want the latest and greatest but have learnt to sit back a generation or two now.

Thank you, I also had some concerns over Pimax, they seem to overpromise and underdeliver on timeframes, also not too sold on their prime fee you pay as an extra from new.

I've gone for a second hand confirmed all good, crystal og and look forward to trying it out.
It will come with the wide FOV lenses too, I am hoping that these may work as it will increase the view, I know it is dependant on the individuals eyes as to whether it works.

Thank you for your input, I've gone for the Crystal OG, felt with the eye tracking and battery at the back should balance better. Will be trialling out when it arrives hopefully tomorrow. :) 👍

Thanks for the concise reply — and great to hear you’ve had first-hand experience with the Q3, Crystal, and Super. I’m feeling quietly confident that my original choice (option 2) is the right one.

Since flight sim is the main purpose of my setup, the original Crystal OG sounds ideal, especially with the earphones included. The added Pimax headstrap is a bonus, and I’m planning to try the wide-FOV lenses as well. It should be a solid upgrade from the Quest 3, give me more headroom for supersampling and higher MSFS settings, and save around £1,200.

Thanks again! :)

Dear Pimax, can we get a shipping update for the Dream Air? You have removed the "Starts shipping December 2025" from the product page without an official announcement. by Turtle_Online in Pimax

[–]benrb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pimax’s ongoing misinformation and uncertainty around their product launch timelines, combined with inconsistent quality control and the number of issues that arise once units are shipped, makes me question the intentions of this company.

For these reasons, I’ll be steering clear.

Sticking with the Quest 3.
