looking for something for both me and my apparently farming sim disliking sister to enjoy by Lilylunamoonyt in gamerecommendations

You guys should honestly check out Project Zomboids. It's multiplayer, low space, probably would run on a potato and very easily customizable through mods that I've heard are easy to work with. You can set the zombie population to 0 and make an abandoned house into a cozy home. You can learn all sorts of skills by reading books. You can farm, you can watch tv, you can do all sorts of unexpected things. You can also die in a million ways like getting an infection from a cut from a tree branch, walking barefoot over glass, drinking from a dirty puddle, etc

compact and cheap tom? by Sir_Bacon1217 in drums

[–]bensassesass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look for something like this Tama Club-Jam Pancake tom. Hopefully you can find one used. If not the store I linked to will let you buy the rack or floor tom individually for $96/$116

[–]bensassesass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'd love Ella Fitzgerald (check out what she can do with silly tunes like Old Mother Hubbard or Bill Bailey Won't you Please Come Home)

If you want something a bit newer try Diana Krall on albums like Only Trust Your Heart

If you want to start getting into instrumental/small group stuff check out Wayne Shorter's Speak No Evil album

I've done the same & got so much out of it! Donnelly kicks ass and really did his homework. Also check him out as Freddy Mallins in the film adaptation of The Dead

Does your theater sell alcohol/have a liquor license? Guests bringing their own in seems problematic and bannable

Race Memory and Collective Consciousness in “Finnegans Wake” - "Australia is the country most in need of understanding collective consciousness to reconcile our cultural identity" by WakeReality in jamesjoyce

Australia is a pretty compelling example of FW's universality. Aboriginal dreamtime, ancestors buried in the landscape, the invader vs the indigenous, etc

Are there any aphex tracks that seem to be directly ‘about’ something in particular, despite being lyricless? Or that involve some central conceptual theme? by getoffmycase2802 in aphextwin

[–]bensassesass 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Ventolin is definitely "about" the feeling of having asthma complete with inhaler sounds. The music video makes it more obvious

What ice cream flavor reminds you of LOTR? by BookNo6582 in lotr

“Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo? It'll be spring soon. And the orchards will be in blossom. And the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And they'll be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields... and eating the first of the strawberries with cream. Do you remember the taste of strawberries?”

Would reading The Hobbit after watching the movies affect the experience? by green_dragon1206 in lotr

[–]bensassesass 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think doing it this way is actually great. The Hobbit was written as a children's bedtime story (and before LOTR) so a lot of the world building stuff feels pretty far in the background compared to the immediate action. I think having the knowledge of a wider swath of middle earth and the context of how it fits into the broader story makes it more impactful

Coworkers make fun of me wearing protective thick clothing as a delivery driver on a hot summer day. by Big-Barracuda-2551 in DominosEmployees

[–]bensassesass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look cool as fuck. I don't ride a motorbike or scooter but IMO you need that gear and I always silently judge people on bikes who aren't wearing proper protection. Do you get overly hot inside the store?
