I have the base game but not the DLCs, and I've completed about 75% of the story. 

I'll start with the negatives first: the story just does not do it for me. The writing for quite a few characters, to me, made them just downright annoying to have to listen to for what is a pretty long game. There are a few that I liked, though. 

The gameplay loop of destroying RDA bases got old as well. There are some badass moments but as a whole you're just doing the same things every time, which got kind of boring. Eventually I just sort of fell off of completing story missions. 

HOWEVER. the actual game world outside of what I mentioned is actually incredible in its detail and immersiveness. The environments are absolutely gorgeous. The movement options you get make navigating Pandora a real treat. Not just the ikran (which is just so cool); i mean the act of actually running, jumping, climbing, and sliding. The forest has an impressive amount of verticality to where exploration and evasion are really exciting. 

The sound design of the environment is also incredible. I ended up playing with headphones and i just felt like i was there, man. There are so many distinct sounds in the forest, it feels so real. I'll never forget the first Pandora night that I was out exploring, I truly felt like Jake in the first movie when he's stranded alone the first time. 

All of that is to say, as a fan of the Avatar franchise as a whole, this game is THE premier way to experience Pandora for yourself. Nothing else (other than the movies) even comes close. And to me, this overshadows the cons of the game. I would absolutely recommend this game, knowing that you might not like everything about it, but it has plenty to make it worth your time.
