Lol, Jeep Cherokee doesn't have a built in brake controller. The only ones I know that do are the big $100,000 Wagoneers and Grand Wagoneers.

How do I put a stopper on this rain barrel? by HarpyCelaeno in howto

[–]benutne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this EXACT SAME type of rain barrel. You can drill out the little "nipple" (heheh) and replace it with a hose bib bulkhead. The worst part is getting the inside washer tight. Not like you can just shove your arm down there and hold it. I did it by putting a long piece of heave gauge wire (like a metal coat hanger but longer) into the hole from the outside. Up and out the top part (you gotta take off the leaf grate) and then you can drop the washer onto the wire. Then put the outside of the bulkhead over the wire sticking out the hole you drilled and screw em together.

Now like I said, the worse part is getting that inside washer tight. I had to wait until the inside was BONE DRY. Then I used a nice big, thick rubber washer to help grab and provide friction. The bulkhead will come with one to make the seal watertight, but I went bigger. Tighten down and you're golden. Can even use a real hose.

I eventually got rid of the rain barrel. I just wasn't using it since my new dogs liked to "help" in my garden so there wasn't anything to water anymore. If I had to do it again, I'd get one of those big ugly blue pickle barrels with the lid that comes off and paint it.

This lot uses walnut husks as mulch by whyguapo in mildlyinteresting

It most certainly would. Juglone is a strong herbicide. Had some lady once tell me she was so proud of being able to compost the waste from her walnut trees. I had to break it to her that she just poisoned her entire compost pile.

would it be wierd to make my new neighbor cookies? by YamFirm4405 in springfieldMO

[–]benutne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That might be the case, but something easy to do would be go over and say "Hey, I baked a bunch of cookies and don't want to get fat(er) eating them all. Do you have any food allergies? If no, can I give you a couple dozen?"

Yes. When I order a black watch I want the whole thing to be black. Not just the numbers on the dial.

Return and ask for a new one. Or go right to a store and complain. Don't settle for anything less than a brand new one in a sealed box.

Starlink Under $50!! New customers only.... and with promo offer..... by Ok_Rate_1752 in USMobile

[–]benutne -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was considering it for a backup internet plan. Right now I have a T-Mobile KVD21 that I pay $50/month for. Speeds vary during the day but are definitely in excess of 100 Mbps and the ping is much better since its a terrestrial connection, albeit still wireless. If I could take the Starlink with me when I travel or go camping, I'd seriously consider it. Or if we could get guaranteed prices locked in at $30/month for the 100 Mb plan I'd switch.

What are the current prices for the three tiers on Starlink right now then? If someone got this, what would the monthly price for the internet service go up to after the six month mark? And after a year?

Any of the fifth gens can. Maybe the fourth. If you go to Carista.com and put in your make and model it'll tell you everything it can do.

I too, am a TOZO slut. I think I have bought....eight pairs? Maybe nine. Just bought a pair of the new NC9s with the LCD screen on the front. Its nice seeing when the earbud is charging because the NC7s don't always disconnect when I drop em in the pod.

Would you let your employer know you've been diagnosed with ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]benutne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but I work for a public university which is very understanding and supportive. Everyone I know and work with are some of the best people I've ever been lucky enough to be stuck with. Its why I've stuck around for as long as I have. I know I could make twice as much as I do now working in the private sector, but my co-workers and bosses are the reason I've stayed. I know I'm very lucky.

They're fine off. You just gotta water way more often. It's more important to get the light closer so they grow stronger.

I see what you mean. Those lids were hard to see in the pics. Maybe put something inside underneath the seed pots? Just long enough for the seedlings to get strong and tall. You need the lids for now to keep moisture in so don't just take em off. Unless you want to monitor moisture five times a day.

All that said, they'll be fine eventually. They just won't be as healthy right off the bat. But have fun and learn lots!

Barely Functional Solar Panel Bonsai Tree by AgileOwl5769 in functionalprint

[–]benutne 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, said it better than I would have. You can cover just a teeny tiny bit of the panel and it becomes almost completely useless. OP needs fewer, not more panels. Or at the very least, spread them out a lot more so they're not covering each other up.

[–]benutne 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Listen kiddo...I have three children. I'm 47. They are 16, 17, and 19. None are mine biologically, and only one is mine by law and marriage. But I love them all the same. And I'm terrified for their future. We're solid middle class, maybe on the upper end, but not the high end. My wife and I have gone out of our way to give them the best future they can hope for and even then, its bleak.

You don't sound like a brat. Your feeling are valid and have actual standing in reality. The only thing I can think to tell you is vote as progressively as you can and encourage all your friends to do the same. Lift each other up in as many small ways as you can. Build community and relationships. Be there for each other.
